I made one without even acknowledging its existance, screw doubting that the one you are working on will ever reply to you. It's an odd process, but I'll tell you that doubts don't effect it much at all, at least from what I've seen.

Splooshie123 July 5, 2012 July 5, 2012 WAKE ME UP! WAKE ME UP! *SLAP* YOU'RE AWAKE! Guest: Visual and auditory hallucinations are possible. Just ask any drug addict.
Slushie July 5, 2012 July 5, 2012 Yeah, down the right chemicals and you'll be amazed how easily your brain can make up things that aren't there. People on certain deliriants, for example, will have an entire conversation with someone only to realize later that the person was never there and they were talking to themselves. Tulpas are a similar hallucination, except induced psychologically rather than chemically. Oh, and sentient. Astral project on my face, brother!
Guest July 5, 2012 July 5, 2012 Sometimes. Am I the only one who refuses to accept non-audible linguistic communications from their tulpa?
Sands July 5, 2012 July 5, 2012 Am I the only one who refuses to accept non-audible linguistic communications from their tulpa? I certainly hope so. Think about it, poor guy/gal trying their best to tell you something in a way they can and you just ignore them. Sands July 6, 2012 July 6, 2012 They'll just have to wait until they can speak properly. It's better than accidentally being parroted by me. It's for their own good. You could think that, but looking at the surveys tulpas have filled, what have most disappointed them or made them feel like they're worthless seem to be not trusting them and thinking everything they do is you, when they do it on their own. The gap between sentience and being vocal can be really long. In my case, I thought my tulpa to be sentient and capable of thought right from the start, but it's hard to say if that was the way. Nevertheless, he seemed to be able to understand some of my speech even before he had a form. I noticed that puppeting and parroting fears only made my tulpa to seem more like a puppet and not very active, once I let things come and go and trusted him, he would actually start doing things on his own. Puppeting them to not move is also puppeting and I feel that it's just as bad or worse than puppeting them to move. You are not letting them do what they want and as such, make them more like the puppets you're afraid they'll end up as. I do have some fears and I understand that some of what he does might be me. But he's done plenty of unexpected things and when I ask him to answer to yes or no questions, I don't even ask him to nod or shake his head. I ask him instead to cause me pressure or pain on eithe side of my head, which I can't really do on my own. They're, well, people too. They want your attention and they want to do things with you. They are capable of that before they can speak. The long wait - even if they understand your fears - might be too much. Hell, once I didn't go visit my tulpa in the evening and he was pretty down and clingy the next day, something I thought I'd never see from him. If he were a puppet under my full control, he would've probably been just standing there and smiling happily like nothing was wrong, as I didn't understand how lonely he could possibly feel.
