Niko_of_Death June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 So we have guides as a subforum and on the front page, however the tulpa community seems to have differing opinions of guides. I've heard from some that guides are bullshit and shouldn't be trusted, say guides work for them, and some are neutral on guides. What's the general opinion on guides?
Stevie June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 Reading several different guides is only going to teach you the variations on what is the same general method, dude. Once you learn the base method, and where that overlaps (or doesn't) in a few different guides, you'll be able to tweak it youself and know what you're doing. I'm all about using the guides more as "this has worked for at least a few people, so there must me something to it" rather than as something set in stone. Using the guides to figure out what methods work for you and what don't is how I think they're meant to be used. Even if you don't use them at all, they're still good to read. The more knowledge you can go into this with, the better. We're all gonna make it brah.
sushi June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 I'd say it depends on the guide. Some of them are absolute crap, while others are pretty helpful. The GAT is trying to sort the crap from the good ones, but I think sometimes good guides don't get approved for silly reasons. You should probably look through the approved guides first, but if you're still looking for more, try the unapproved guides. "Some things have to be believed to be seen." - Ralph Hodgson
nivereno June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 Guides are personal experiences put in presentable form. Pretty much anything about tulpa's can be bullshit for some people at random since the only rules that exist are the ones that you and your tulpa believe exist. Big thing about it is that guides help you learn when your new BUT new people also think that if they follow guides stuff will work out, which is not always the case. Also a very important thing is that not everybody reads/understands what you write the same way especially if the stuff is not very professionally written, sometimes people even manage to take something you think is for sure helpful and manage to find something completely terrible for anything in it by reading between the lines. Luminesce June 3, 2015 June 3, 2015 Guides are for people that don't know what they're doing. They're useful. People that know what they're doing probably don't need them, but they could learn from them. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
Linkzelda June 4, 2015 June 4, 2015 Who's to say anyone knows what they're doing for sure other than the personal assurances they create that what they're doing is pragmatic, only to find that they're not a special snowflake anymore? No strong opinion on guides, I guess. 7 Hours of Active Forcing 8 Hours & 29 Minutes of Active Forcing 10 Hours of Active Forcing
Eden June 4, 2015 June 4, 2015 They are useful Imo, because when you have basically no idea what a Tulpa is for example or how forcing works in general, or what Is possible with the Tulpa phenomenon, you get a good idea of it after reading some guides. Ofc, people shouldn't strictly follow any guide without thinking on their own, but I think every guide mentions that so, yeah. Paranoid Llama June 5, 2015 June 5, 2015 I'm pretty new to tulpas, and I gotta say I don't really have a good idea on going about trying some things (imposition, possession, etc.) with my tulpa. It really helps me get a better understanding on how to go about trying techniques. They're pretty useful. I'm not going to listen to you guys since you are all probably just talking to yourself and don't really have a tulpa like me.
