Gloomynoon March 9, 2021 March 9, 2021 (edited) Just as the title says. I was wondering if the Tetris Effect could help with imposition. When I close my eyes after playing something for too long I see brief glimpses of it. Maybe that could help with visual imposition? (I just looked this up and found a tips and tricks for it, sorry. I should look before I post! You can still answer if you want. Man and here I thought I had a good idea...) Edited March 9, 2021 by Gloomynoon
TB March 9, 2021 March 9, 2021 (edited) I was thinking about this too somewhat recently. Some weeks ago while tired I was looking through perhaps hundreds of anime drawings over course of several hours, far longer than I typically spend on just doing that. After I was done, I realized I was seeing characters with my own eyes while they were still open. They were transparent though, but that seems to be a step above seeing them behind eyelids with eyes closed, or seeing flashes of mental images in the minds eye. I have tried imposing my tulpa before, but the farthest I would get is like a halo of her outline with no color or form. I feel maybe if I could have images of her to stare at for hours on end, maybe that'd do something. Sorry for not a definitive answer, but that is at least my experience (I had not seen your edit before my post. I am not sure I knew of a tips and tricks post about it or not. Hope my post is still relevant) Edited March 9, 2021 by TB Creation for creation's sake. we draw things Resident Dojikko
Guest March 9, 2021 March 9, 2021 It's possible. When we spent long periods of heavy visualization, sometimes we got "free glimpses". Hypnagogic is the best example of free and amazing visualization though. The thing is, it requires intense effort and you really should be having fun inherently to that effort otherwise it'll be very tiring.
GrayTheCat March 9, 2021 March 9, 2021 My visualization will become Minecraft or Puyo Puyo centric after playing for a little while. I think if you binge watched anime, that may give you a boost in your visualization of Myo because your brain will want to process things in an anime style. I'm like never going to check this account. If you want to ask me something, you should check our status on Ranger's account instead. Meow. You may see my headmates call me Gray or sometimes Cat. I used to speak in pink and Ranger used to speak in blue (if it's unmarked and colored assume it's Ranger). She loves to chat. Our system account
YukariTelepath March 9, 2021 March 9, 2021 I had a strange experience of seeing (?) mahjong blocks after playing a lot of 3D mahjong. Typically if I played mahjong for a while that day, I'll see mahjong in my mind's eye as I fall asleep. But after playing more than usual for a week or 2, I had a fleeting sense that I saw the designs on blocks in the real world... but not exactly the real world, but not mind's eye. Like I said, it was weird. It happened 2-3 times one morning and then stopped. I wouldn't consider it reliable for imposition, but I also wasn't using any technique or strategy. For imposing a tulpa/headmate... maybe you'd get some effect if you had a good 3D model of their form which you could look at and rotate and zoom in/out on for long periods of time. Luminesce March 9, 2021 March 9, 2021 (edited) Hmm, I never thought about this. - Well, I think the Tetris Effect would be very hard to induce on purpose for any relevant tulpamancy imposition, as despite getting tetris syndrome pretty frequently it exclusively happens when I play a game for 6+ hours a day. But for just learning imposition as a skill? I have to say, the visual overlay I sometimes get from the tetris effect is slightly more similar to imposition than I would've thought to give it credit for. It might help you start imposition if you get lucky on what it's about, but... First, the tetris effect manifests more as involuntary open-eye visualization for me, meaning it by no means has any immersion in the actual world. I'm seeing the visuals clear as day, but they don't feel "real" like imposition does. So I'm not sure it would help as anything other than a starting point because it's a sort of hallucination. Second, none of the times I've ever had tetris syndrome would've helped me learn imposition, personally. The most visually impressive examples I've had were Pokemon Shuffle, which was basically Bejeweled, Factorio, which was a bunch of moving 2D conveyor belts (and sometimes the enemies in the game swarming), and I got it for Deep Rock Galactic recently, again seeing the enemies/health bars approaching me. Only that last one took place in 3D space, and yet it still felt completely flat. Used for imposition, at best it would be imposing a 2D screen. As nice as this topic sounds theoretically, at least in my experience of the Tetris Effect I can't see any practicality coming from it. The real question is if it can help with visualization - tetris syndrome has given me the most vivid waking visualizations I've ever had. Edited March 9, 2021 by Luminesce Hi! Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
