I know it's been forever, part of that was because I took a break for 3 months and the other part of that is because I went insane and started drawing my headmates!

 

The first day I came back I drew my pfp, and now I have 4/11 people in my system done! Ahhhh!

The goal was to make these really fast and that is true for the first three for sure! I made mine in like a couple days, then Ryan, then Fhern almost immediately after. Dream I took longer on because I was struggling to get his face right

Welp, some house keeping before going onto the art posting:

• There's a new system picture! Has been! For awhile now! :D There's two of them! :D :D :D *cries*
  • I even have a bonus picture of what our system looked like as a system of 18.
  • I guess I'll add everything here in a spoiler tag and uh... Actually I have an idea. The next post I make can be dedicated to just the silhouettes.
• Discord doesn't want to host images anymore. Big whoop, who would have thunk. Instead of hassling with replacing Discord pics all of the time, I'll switch to Imgur. I'll still add stuff as forum attachments
  • All of my pics that were Discord links (the like 3 of them) seem to have a source of... nothing??? Juuust in case I just uploaded file attachments of everything. No, I can't be pissed to upload Imgur files, I realized in retrospect it's too much work.
• I'm going to have to re-upload everything anyway, anyone who's talked to me on Discord will know what I want to do. Now the real question is whether or not I'll actually go through with doing it...
  • Okay so update on this. What I wanted to do is poison my art with clip art to mess with AI generators because funny. There's just one problem with that- even with creative commons stuff, most people don't even want you modifying art or not giving them credit. So basically, I would need to steal art to effectively poison my art, which I feel defeats the point. So I'll just upload images as is.
• Actually I should put the disclaimer of whether or not I'll do anything in here. At least I feel like I can make the next post the thing and fix the OP, yada yada. Welp, at least you know some information if you notice anything broken or whatever.

Aaand then I started working on Exabier's picture but I started to hate it.

 

[Exabier] I mean, it doesn't look exactly like me, but I don't hate it. I just like having something at least vaguely colored in, at this point all I have is a green outline of myself. I asked Ranger to fill in the face and the hair.

[Ranger] I also hit a wall with another problem- as more and more pfps were made, it became increasingly and painfully clear that this wasn't a good art style for pfps. I mean, this is how it looks for my headmates:

 

 

Mine and Fhern's don't look too bad, but that's because our face happens to contrast with darker surroundings. My Goku hair didn't really need to be edited, but I specifically remember making Fhern's hat shadow darker just so his face pops more. With Dream, Adriel, and particularly Moltosha, there wasn't really a good contrasting background that would conflict with the color of their suit.

 

Gray's pfp on the other hand, while older, would in theory have this problem too- sure, the dark hair, but his face would look pale against the background. I think it's the thicker black outline saving the image.

 

And before even getting to Evergreen, we used the "Evergreen dance" picture we had for forever and it looks FUCKING PERFECT

So this lead to Gray making new pictures for both Jared and Exabier, at like the same time. He got excited working on Jared, and then Exabier got pissed at him since he doesn't have a picture yet. He hasn't finished either of them yet, but so far he spent more time on Exabier:

And it wasn't only until like last night or whatever I realized that the lines may be too thin for Exabier. His image is huge compared to Jared's. Thankfully, this is all still in the sketch phase, so nothing is a lost cause.

 

Note to us: pick a zoom out size or draw a consistently sized box and stick to it so we don't end up with this problem.

 

Speaking of pfps, well, I'll come back and edit this later maybe 😏

The other thing I want to show off is this picture I was working on. (Shh, don't tell Lucy I posted this here)

Okay so this one is a huge pain in the ass given how I do outlines. I have the outline colored in red so I can change the colors later using a hacky method where I use Paint.net's color changer setting. This has the downside of me needing to make every differently colored outline on a different layer, AND making it really hard if not impossible to get the line colors to be the colors I actually want them to be. For previous ones like Adriel's picture, I had to eyeball it and thankfully I was able to save the settings to apply to the other outline layers that should be the same color. But for this work? Ugggghhhhhh. I haven't given up on it yet, but at this rate I may as well redo all of the outlines with a different approach.

 

If I don't do a new approach to this one, I want to test it on another picture. Actually, I want to do a test right now, but I want to finish this post first so keep an eye out for an update (if I actually do it lol)

 

So never-mind, I don't have self-control and I decided to do the experiment anyway!

As a side note- I worked with the rough line and color layers at the same time.

Ryan and Blue decided to integrate and they settled on the name Jared while online their persona is Jerry. We call him Jared anyway. Jared insisting on being both blue and red at the same time, which broke me and Gray. Evergreen, who thought it was funny, drew Jared.

Chrome, Tom, and Gerodious decided to integrate and change their name to Adriel. Since Tom has optional demon symbolism and both Gerodious and Chrome have angel symbolism, Adriel decided to become a nephilim. We put off adding Adriel because we were intimidated, and then Blue added Adriel to the picture.

 

It was after Adriel's integration I started doing role calls, felt like someone was unaccounted for, and realizing nope, my system shrank.

Bune and Keatan integrated and changed their name to Ian. Interestingly, Ian is an adult, but he's mentally "younger" than everyone else, feeling like he's about 19 years old. I added Ian to the picture.

This was the original version we made. We badly wanted a system picture, but we were not confident in our art ability (and even now as of 1/24/24 I don't think I could pull off a proper system pic either). The approach was "just doodle something" and the idea of these rainbow silhouettes dawned on us. We can't remember if Gray drew it or if I did.

As for the changes: Evergreen and Fish integrated and decided to keep the name Evergreen. Fernardo and Hope integrated and changed their name to Fhern. Unfortunately, Spirit and Jasper passed away.
