HackofAllTrades April 9, 2013 April 9, 2013 Yeah, I told my mom about it. She is an extremely open minded and nonjudgmental person. I eased into it by explaining it as an interesting find on the internet, turned it into a "what if" and eventually just spilled the beans. She's interested in process very much and isn't worried that much. Granted I don't really update others or tell most people about it, I still mostly keep to myself about it. But my mom is awesome anyway.
Tekidek April 9, 2013 April 9, 2013 I'd never tell my parents and I don't have any friends (except one - but I'm still analyzing the possiblity) open-minded enough to tell them about Tulpas. My mom is a extremist christian, and my dad... he just wouldn't understand it.

My mom is a extremist christian, and my dad... he just wouldn't understand it. It's actually the opposite for me friendo. Super religious pop, and fairly religious momma. None the less, I say it's a good thing to be able to have the ability to explain to them at some point. At least I think it's possible... once one had the right mindset to argue for your tulpa, and the general consept of tulpalamas, I'd say you had nothing to worry about. Tulpalamas are no more demons or hell spawns than yourself, or anything else within your mind. Besides, what's the worst they could do? Yeah, I told my mom about it. Eldamaur April 11, 2013 April 11, 2013 I told my parents right away, along with all the other people I talk with. I've already been into stuff like lucid dreaming so it wasn't too far fetched compared to the types of things I usually get into, so I didn't see it being a big issue. As it currently stands my mother doesn't want me talking about it around her, and my father is indifferent. It beats having to hide it, though. Granted, I haven't told them a thing about possession, and I haven't told them I have a Tumblr because I don't want them reading it. My tumblr
Eldamaur April 11, 2013 April 11, 2013 She's the type of religious where if she doesn't understand something she thinks it's somehow "not biblical." She refuses to learn more about the subject to where I might be able to assuage her fears, but I suppose ignorance is at least better than her outright forbidding me or the like. My tumblr
Splooshie123 April 12, 2013 April 12, 2013 Well, they say ignorance is bliss. And those religious types seem pretty blissful.
Flexionsensor April 12, 2013 April 12, 2013 And those religious types seem pretty blissful. You need to meet my mom... Seriously, I don't see the point of telling your parents, family or even friends! (If you have them... Which you very likely don't...) Me, I'd be ridiculed, ostracized and likely institutionalized for this "extremely dangerous mental experiment, young man!" "DUDE! That's wrong! You don't do that! That's like giving a kid a knife and telling him that it's a neck massager!" Shameless self promotion!

I agree... but if you're backed into a corner about it, then I say come clean about it. Just to get it out in the open, but only under the scenario it comes up.

I say come clean about it. come clean about it. Yeaaaaah no. Let's face it, when they already doubt my sanity, (I don't act normal around anybody... Not even myself...) the worst thing I could possibly tell them is that I'm trying to make voices appear in my head. I will avoid the scenario of telling people about this site, even if they find out about the tulpa phenomenon, I'll just be like "Oh cool... Yeah, I'm too lazy and that sounds creepy..." And blow them off. "DUDE! That's wrong! You don't do that! That's like giving a kid a knife and telling him that it's a neck massager!" Shameless self promotion!
