Chatbox Moderation

Recommended Posts

This is out of hand.

For those of you who attend the IRC chatbox joint on this website, the mods are horrible. Yesterday, I get kicked for using ONE LINE in caps, and there is no rule against caps, unless it is excessive. One line is not excessive. I wasn't flaming or anything, i was just making a damn joke. Eventually this issue was taken into the .mods section or whatever, and the mods,(excluding Rasznir, who was actually trying to solve the problem) just had an attitude with me the whole time and used the "We're mods we're always right" to justify their position, and ended up just coming and leaving whenever.

And then today, some random brings it up again and tries to fight about it, and i get kicked again? For defending myself?

This is ridiculous. These damn kick happy mods need to be addressed.

I agree completely.

It just seems like no one cares, because nothing is being done, despite all the complaints.

At any rate, I was thinking about going to someone myself, yesterday, when I witnessed YoursTruly being as kick-happy as can be.

I realize that off topic discussion is not allowed in .info, but someone came in, asked a quick question that didn't have any immediate relation to tulpas, and he was kicked instantly. No explanation. For all anyone knew, he could have been going somewhere with that.

But nope.

Kicked.

YoursTruly allowed plenty of other off topic discussion. He or she probably has favorites in the channel, and allows them to speak of whatever they wish. When someone else brought up that the discussion was going off topic, he was kicked.

Someone else asked YoursTruly why that person was kicked.

Kicked.

It was absolutely ridiculous.

Another person did indeed spam the channel, and was kicked for it.

He later came back, and made the same face that he used to spam it in the first place. He was asked if he was about to do it again; to which he replied "No".

Kicked.

Another user went to .mods to complain about it, but the explanation he received was basically "Mods can kick anyone for whatever they want. Kicks are a warning, and not a punishment".

Excuse me, but on what planet do people get warns for not doing anything wrong?

You don't warn someone for doing something completely acceptable.

The horrible mods in .info are one of the main reasons I don't go on. Because they allow circlejerking off topic when it's people they like. But when someone they don't does anything.

Kicked.

Oh, and also.

Keep in mind I don't necessarily by any means think that all mods on the irc are bad.

My problem is with the ones that are. There is some completely legitimate moderation that goes on.

It's just that no one does anything about the horrible power-abusing mods, which is why I'm here posting this.

>complaining about mods

Come on guys, this is #tulpa.info you're talking about. I'd like to be proven wrong just once, but it never happens.

Also how come Niichan's posse is still somehow in mod position when he's no longer a mod himself? They all abuse their power just like him, YoursTruly being just another one of them. And he's in some kind of position of power anyways even when he's not a mod, according to the rumors? What is this bullshit. He never had a reason to become a mod in the first place, he was just made one by Amadeus. And this is what happens when you don't take care of the problem and follow it through all the way, he's getting so many complaints and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one getting most of the complaints about shitty modding. Remove all of the rotten core, don't just scrape a little and hope it doesn't show anymore.

I once mentioned I had been kicked by

why do I even bother

a certain mod MQQSE twice for no particularly good reason.

Said mod immediately kicked me saying that makes three times.

Yes. Exactly.

He came back and made the face again. Once. Notice that he was asked if he was going to start again after he made the stray face.

Then he said "No XD" and was kicked.

In what way is that spam? He answered the question.

He should be allowed to put whatever the hell face he wants to, after his answer, or else all users are using emoticons wrong.

Now if he had simply said "XD" again after that, then I think it would have been fine to kick him.

Boogaloo, You're not going to do this, yes?

No XD

YoursTruly was asking if we was not going to do it. Boogaloo responded that no, he was going to do it. Evidenced by the fact that he used the same face in his response.

Case closed.

Oh, please.

You can't possibly justify it like that.

That has to be one of the most common misconceptions in the English language.

People rarely pay mind to the "not" in sentences like that, and would simply say "No, I'm not going to do it again".

If I were in his shoes, and had no intention of spamming, I would have said "no", and not "yes".

But would you have said "no XD"?

In any case, regardless of his intention, that was the way it was interpreted, and that's good enough justification for his being kicked.

Not me personally.

But you can't possibly pull that shit as if it's the reason his being kicked was justified, either.

So now mods are in control of what faces are being used?

I agree that if he were to continue using it in excess, even in "excusable" circumstances, it would have been fine to kick him (but at least fucking warn him first). But him using the face once in a response like that is absolutely no reason to kick him.

Think about it; he could have just been laughing about the stupid spam he just posted, and say "No, I'm not going to do it again xD".

That's a possibility.

Frankly, I don't believe that was the case. I think he very well may have been doing it to spam more, but it is not a moderator's place to assume, and kick people based on what they might be thinking. It's their job to kick when someone actually does something worth kicking them over.

And I don't care what anyone says; making one face, one extra time does not warrant being kicked.
