1. I am still NOT a roleplayer no matter what

2. My friend is NOT lying to me, and she is not delusional either... And you MUST agree with me because I am telling the truth...

....I have no reaction image suitable for this....

... dude, this whole thread makes me wanna laugh XD Why is this on the front page? I was expecting a bunch of boring complicated crap when I clicked on this board.

ANYWAYS, PBC, you're being too defensive. I believe you, I do, but shouting at other people on here that you aren't a roleplayer really is gonna make you seem even more like a roleplayer. If someone accuses you of being one, tell them calmly that you aren't one and they're more likely to back off. Or, if they don't exactly accuse you and say something offhandedly like "I'm kinda skeptical about you and I think you may be a roleplayer" then just say that's alright and that you know yourself you aren't one and move on. Worked for me, I got accused like this right after my first post.

Second, saying everyone "MUST agree" with you is, again, gonna make less people believe you. Honestly, nobody "MUST agree" with you. They MAY agree with you. I know many won't. The thing is, you just seem almost too sure of yourself, which is letting others, who think what you're saying is ridiculous, to think you're just a joke. Just lay off a bit, okay? It'll let more people take you seriously.

So then, onto this actual topic. Fictional characters existing on other planes? Okay, I actually believe this. I don't really have a reason why I believe this, I just do. It seems right to me. I mean, if we think about it logically, there's probably countless of other dimensions and planes that hit every scenario you can think of. This would include all videogames, books, and movies. Basically, every world we can think of and create probably exists somewhere else. However, something may have taken up Severus's form in a way to try to trick you. You say you're sure it's the real him, but if you don't mind me asking, how are you so sure? (Also, how are you so sure that your friend isn't lying to you either? Like I said, you seem so sure of yourself, but you aren't giving anyone else any reason to believe you.)

But if you're saying you want to physically create him... I'm afraid I don't believe that's possible. It's almost too ridiculous to be possible. Like Xeare said, you'd have to create matter out of nothing, and unfortunately our world just doesn't work that way. It may work like that in other worlds and planes, but not here. The most I believe you can do is give him a sort of tulpa-like form, where you will be able to see and touch him, but no one else will be able to.

Well, that's my two cents.

I have heard more than one author say that characters take on a life of their own and that these characters begin to dictate their own lines. I have read about a psychic who could "see" characters in a playwright's apartment. On a side note, if anyone came here for validation of your beliefs, you may or may not find it. What is important is what you believe and know in your heart. That is what you run with. Unless you just want a good argument.

Time to shift into my metaphysical thought process to handle this situation correctly.

The spiritual side of me shares the opinion that PBC is trying to explain with great difficulty. Basically that the astral is full of things that in our reality are deemed fictional, because there's always a place in the universe where such a thing exists. Whether it's made real by another being's thoughts or if it is simply a coincidence that the two are one and the same I am yet to decide.

Now: This is going to sound offensive and so PBC, I don't want you to get upset about anything below this sentence. I believe somewhat in astral too.

For people who are looking for another way for this to be real, just think about how tulpae are reliant upon belief. If PBC believes with all her heart that this IS Severus Snape from the Harry Potter universe, then she's quite lucky to have been able to make a tulpa and break down the barriers of reality with ease. Still believable to me... so it's still just another tulpa.

Xeare, I don't think "infinite possibilities" work exactly like that.

Instead, I prefer to think of it in terms of subjective probabilities.

Each moment you may have an infinite number of potential future experiences following it, but some of those experiences may be more probable and others less probable.

Currently it seems that the most probable continuations are those where we're locally implemented in this "universe", this conclusion is based on the unreasonable success of induction based on past data, but will this continue to stay true in the future when this "universe" will become less and less able to support implementing "me"/this consciousness? Who knows, probably not. I'd be inclined to think the distribution of such probabilities ends up changing the less this 'physical' universe is capable of supporting us (Anthropic Principle).

While I do think some forms of multiverse are likely, I could even go as far as buying some causally disconnected versions, but I don't think it makes sense to buy experientially disconnected versions - that is, you may find yourself implemented in other worlds and experience continuity there too, it's only a matter of how probable that is and what is required for implementing our consciousness.

> doesn't exist from our universe's perception

Why would the universe perceive anything, or need to perceive anything, or why would this perception, if it existed have anything to do with our own self's perception? Just because we're embedded in some structure does not mean that we couldn't experience continuity being embedded in another structure as long as everything that is required to support our consciousness and continuity would be present there.

...I'm sorry, but I don't get this joke. It's a dog, and it barks internally. I don't get it. Could you explain it?

The idea is that there's something similar showing someone who looks frustrated with the caption [screams internally]. This is to show a great deal of stress/frustration/hatred that cannot possibly be effectively dealt with externally. (i.e. There's no way to punch someone in the face over the internet, or punching said person would be frowned upon by society) The end result is that the best course of action is just sit there and [scream internally] until your rage has subsided.

Okay, but...

He knows his Tulpa is actually a dimension-shifting spirit, because 'His Christian friend that has a strong 6th sense' told him.

Which is the bad part?

1, He takes the word of that one person as gospel(Hilarious pun), and refuses to listen to you guys?

2, His friend's characterisation begins and ends with eyepatch Christianity? (Movie Sins reference, which is doubly hilarious because Sin and Religion. And also Final Fantasy Ten.) To this guy, his friend is just 'Christian friend', and nothing more? No other details or traits, just the one thing?

3, He believes his tulpa is better than other tulpas, because his claims to be real-er?

4, He believes that sixth senses are better than logic?

5, He trusts someone else's sixth sense?

6, He never once stops to wonder if his friend is: messing with him? Trolling him? Screwing with him? Having fun at his expense? Taking advantage of his Tulpa Belief? Exploiting him? Or, if he's legit, then still: What if he's wrong? He might have a sixth sense, that doesn't mean it can't be wrong.

Short version: It'd be nice if this thread was just ignored. I'm tired of seeing it floating around at the top of this subforum.

Blunt command: Stop promoting this thread by replying to it with how much you think it's inane and absurd. Go make a new one that suits your ideals.

Extended lecture: I personally find leaving people alone with their own beliefs is more effective than pouring energy into explaining (angrily) why I so adamantly disagree with them. But when I feel the urge to contest someone's mental constructs -- for example, if they've asked for input, seem open, or are potentially being harmed by a 'maladaptive schema' -- I gently nudge some information their way and encourage them to make an effort to learn more.

Dissecting the OP's lack of critical thinking and offering vague insults and peremptory opinions to displace misled beliefs seems completely fruitless. In other words: You're all probably wasting time and energy that could be focused on new, interesting, and thought-provoking topics that might actually benefit people.

Of course, if you really find personal fulfillment in pointing out the shamefully obvious ad nauseam to no or ill effect on a confused person, carry on...
