JD1215 June 14, 2012 June 14, 2012 Actually, I bet Guest has the right idea about dedicating enough attention. I have a hard time juggling five, I can't imagine trying to pay a good amount of attention to even more. x_X WTB: Rare Tulpas
Guest Anonymous June 14, 2012 June 14, 2012 Even if you did make that many, I don't think it's the best idea. It might be straining your mind a bit too much (the person with 5 tulpae reports having some mild headaches) and you won't be able to dedicate as much attention to your tulpae as you'd like. Do you have 8 best friends? I cut off communication with literally everyone in real life, saving a quick grocery trip about once a month. A year or two ago I'd go a month or two without even seeing another person. Soon enough I'm going to hopefully be entirely disconnected from society once I buy some land. But that's for another thread. I see this as advantageous when it comes to tulpas as I won't have to maintain relationships with anyone, allowing more room for tulpas. It will also prove to be an interesting experiment to see if I can remain coherent by just talking to my tulpa, or if both of our speaking skills will degrade into a series of grunts.

But that's for another thread. Good luck with your experiment. I was mostly worrying that it might require more mental resources than a regular human would require and if overusing the brain that much would have any risks. I don't think you'll lose your memories because you and your tulpae will keep reinforcing them. The memory loss would apply to a regular human more because their memories of speech and other abilities wouldn't be reinforced. I think having that many tulpae could even let someone survive (physical) isolation for very long periods of time without having their self ground to nothing. Certainly worth experimenting with, as long as you're doing that of your own volition.

ShyGuy65 June 15, 2012 June 15, 2012 7+-2 is only how many numbers you can hold in your head at once. It was determined to be connected to auditory imagination, as Asians can hold more numbers in their heads and their numbers are all one syllable. There were some other languages involved too. >inb4 Asian mathematical master race But other than that, I don't think it would be a good idea to have many more than 5, as it would be hard to give them all the attention they want. You might go in your bedroom, and never come out again because your social life is entirely tulpae.

Guest Anonymous June 15, 2012 June 15, 2012 Hey, I have two friends. TWO. Your left and right hand don't count.
ShyGuy65 June 15, 2012 June 15, 2012 No, those are just general acquaintances. My friends are my mommy and the man who hides in the closet when my daddy comes home.
