Tulpa Evolution

I'm interested in hearing about how everyone's tulpae have evolved over time or from the moment of conception to creation and over time. This can include personality or appearance.

 

Here's my story. Edwin almost wasn't Edwin. When I decided to create a new tulpa, the name "Ciero" came to mind. He was going to be a sort of punkish, angsty boy with red and black hair and was going to be part Skibby (a made-up creature that's a mixture of a cat, a squirrel, and a rabbit) with Skibby ears, tail, and claws. He would also have a full Skibby form he could assume.

 

For about two days I mulled over the details. About ten minutes before I set to forcing to create my tulpa, Edwin's name and design suddenly came to mind, instantly booting out all ideas I had for Ciero. It was as though my tulpa knew what he wanted to be before I ever formed him.

 

I feel a little bad for Ciero, though. It's sort of like a fetus aborted at conception. He didn't receive the gift of life. Maybe one day I'll create Ciero. He'd probably be like a younger brother for Edwin.

Hmm, with three tulpas I feel like writing one or two would be unfair and all three would be too much text... Oh well, I'll write a bit about each. Better too much than too little I guess.

Starting from the eldest:

 

Desmond:

When I first started to design Desmond, I had in mind this talkative, playful and happy tulpa who would keep me company and stuff. Well, after I mixed up the form of a white fox, the personality here and an earlier accidental tulpa together he picked the name Desmond and grew a lot in a rather short time. He became childish, sarcastic and pessimistic. Nowadays he's slightly more mature. Later he made his own human form.

 

L:

The second tulpa's appearance was designed by Desmond, and by the image I got from him I tried to build L's personality into a perverted and mischievous bad-boy. Instead he turned out to be caring and friendly, somewhat sensitive personality. So we worked on that instead. The name was born when Desmond and I tried to come up with one, and Desmond gave the starting letter L, and nobody came up with anything else.

 

Nevira:

Nevira is the first one to turn up close as planned. I made her appearance and she took it on herself as a "gift". Her personality was planned to be caring, positive and talkative, and she added "feminine" and mature herself as she grew. She's the youngest tulpa but acts more mature than either of the earlier ones.

Markus was originally supposed to be a guy :P Her original form was a super awesome spy guy in a suit... that lasted maybe about a month. After that, she changed through a bunch of different forms. She looked a bit like Near for a while, then looked like a completely black silhouette, and now she just changes her form every couple of weeks. Sometimes it's just small changes, but sometimes she'll just show up with a completely different form :P As for personality, I never sat down and worked on any specific personality for Markus. That, and I've never really been good at describing people so I won't try. There's too much for me to really put into words. :P

Toby sort of appeared when I was a kid as an imaginary friend and he never went away. I never went through a process with him so much as just spent a lot of time with him and he kind of grew from there.

That is just beautiful. ;u; My first "imaginary friend" would be about that old if she were still around. Her name was Kenny, and I had her when I was about four or five. All I remember about her was she was my age, a little taller, and had straight brown hair. My memories of her are as vivid as though she were a physical person. I remember actually seeing her.

 

Corvis, my last tulpa, changed a bit. He started out thin and kind of pale and walked about with his shoulders slouched. Gradually he became more muscular, tanner, and stood up straight.

 

Edwin so far has only gone through a couple of changes. He decided to give himself black tips on his ears. He's also adapted to being a lot less shy and nervous around me. But I think that's just from me spending time with him. He still blushes and gets anxious at some things I say and do, and he's definitely spastic in public. Still, he isn't as bad as I initially imagined him to be. I figured he wouldn't be able to handle a horror movie, but it turns out even though he spazzes out, he loves them! I liken him to Markiplier with survival horror games. XD

Fenchurch was originally going to be a child. For a few years I was going to use the name Orbit, then Mab. That was before I was really sure that this tulpa stuff was possible. When I found this community, I wasn't really so sure I wanted a tulpa. I worked on a HUD servitor for a few weeks. Then I decided to make a tulpa, but I didn't want to go with what I'd thought about doing in the past. I picked everything about Fenchurch in a hurry, and it was pretty arbitrary, but I'm happy with who she became.

 

Sometimes I think about going back to my earlier designs for a later tulpa. But of course I'm not making another tulpa until after Fenchurch is imposed.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me with Edwin. It's so easy to over-think and get lost in the details that I always find it better to come up with a design on the fly and just go with it, letting the details iron themselves out over time. It makes the tulpae so much more real when they develop their personality on their own. I always worry about coming up with too many specifics and trapping my tulpa into a form that it doesn't like but feels it cannot change.

Aura's story is pretty much a big wall of text, so I'm just going to skip the first five years of it. I've got it written here if anyone wants to look at it.

 

Anyhow, about two years ago Aura started disappearing for a few hours at a time. Three weeks later, she shows up with Jason to introduce me. Apparently he's her Tulpa first and mine second.

 

It was right after that when Aura shifted from being a Tulpa to becoming an Alter, but that's yet another story, and we don't have that one written yet.

 

Lucia was created by all three of us, and she went almost completely according to plan. The only unexpected event there was her personality, which we had intended to be fairly serious and hard working, ended up being insanely bubbly and energetic. Think Pinkie Pie meets young Naruto, and you might get an idea of Lucia.

I've always found it interesting that tulpae can create other tulpae. Edwin seems to enjoy his alone time, so I don't imagine him wanting to create another tulpa. But then again, this is a thread about how tulpae change and evolve. So I suppose anything is possible.
