Interesting thread. Take this as you will, coming from someone who doesn't even have a Tulpa, genuine or false. Say that Tulpas aren't sentient, just a complete delusion. Say that it all follows the general idea of "tell yourself a lie enough times, and eventually it becomes true." If the "Tulpa" you created appears sentient, feels as if it is beyond your control, and acts like a separate entity, should it matter? Then it's real to you, and that's sort of the driving idea behind Tulpamancy to begin with. Of course the idea of a truly sentient Tulpa is beautiful and it would be sad if that wasn't the case, but that's just my philosophy and two cents.

Edit: And the definition of Tulpa is relatively vague to begin with, so applying such labels further complicates the phenomenon.

Very eloquent and well said Vaugard and this is a great point. :-) I love it!

However, let's not lose the main point of the OP. It was really not about the actual true nature of all tulpas. It was about the probability statements sometimes being posted concerning how many tulpas on the forum are authentic and genuine. My point is there is no way to know and making such statements reflects right back on the writer.

Anyone who thinks someone else doesn't have a tulpa doesn't know what a tulpa is. Not a single one of us as a true "tulpa", as the term was invented for. It's now an umbrella term for any supposedly sentient autonomous thoughtform. I've said this before, but pretty much none of us have exactly the same type of thoughtform despite calling them the same thing. I don't think my tulpas are the same thing as those who say their tulpas are constantly doing stuff in the wonderland when not being thought of, etc.

It's almost impossible to say "You don't have a tulpa" in any technical sense, we usually just say that when someone's own explanation of their thoughtform doesn't fit the general idea of a tulpa. If they say they do have a tulpa and that it does meet our terms, we can't really say it doesn't.

By that Lumi, Melian is probably a tulpa even though I say she isn't. LOL How is that for irony?

I've been telling you she was a tulpa for a year now. Just more different from the norm than the average. The reason I so vehemently deny her not being a tulpa, is that the differences she has from ours came from you creating her naturally in your own way over a long time. You didn't come here and say, "Hey, that's a cool idea. But I'm gonna just puppet her exclusively and pretend she's real, denying any type of sentience." You came here and said, "Hey, that's a cool idea, and it sounds a lot like what I have. There's some differences though because I never thought of her as separate from me, we're more of a collaborative-type. But your guys' tulpas sound awesome, too!"

There are a lot of people here who must see me as some extreme optimist, I guess. I'm a humanitarian with very down-to-earth views. I've got nothing to win or lose, except for peoples' understanding of each other. Like everyone else here, I consider myself a realist. I just went so far with realism I realized there's no point in not immersing yourself in everything that makes humans human, because it's our current state of existence. No need to go around telling people how meaningless their lives actually are, let's enjoy life instead.

Someone was actually reading what I wrote for content! Thank you! That means a lot!

I like extreme optimism, we could use more of that around here!

Too bad I'm rather a pessimist, haha. But I pretty much agree with the stuff Luminesce said here. It is about receiving a vargue idea of what a tulpa is, and as soon as things start to differ to much from what you're experiencing yourself, you start to doubt the credibility of the experiences from different people. To a certain point it is absolutely necessary to accept and believe in what people are describing and experiencing with their tulpas, to some degree it is atleast necessary to tolerate they version of tulpa, because you simply don't have the right to judge it.

Well of course there are limits to it, like people claiming to have >1000 tulpas, or the people who have pretty obviously no idea what they're talking about. I see no reason to believe someone like that at all.

Tulpa: Alice

Form: Realistic Humanoid/Demonic Creation

She may or may not talk here, depends on her.

There does have to be some sort of boundary of credibility of course, but we can be pretty liberal with it. Exceedingly outrageous and ludicrous claims are kinda stupid. But I think those people tend to not last long anyway as they are not really serious. I mean they are not serious because they are either crazy or they don't really believe their own bullshit.

I mean people like me are serious about our bullshit and hang around, never ever really leave and continue to make just ordinary mundane outrageous claims.

What would happen if we tried to remove the rudeness from Tulpa Info using a mad scientist rudeness removal machine!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8d4_6jgD3hI

Dede from the animated cartoon Dexter's Laboratory is cute and obnoxious like Melian!  She is just like Melian!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCn_dAr4Dfw

Melian:  I am not that bad.  I am more adorable than loud.  That is a bit unfair Davie.

There are times I don't really believe in any of this stuff. Or she doesn't believe in herself. Then again, we never dwelled on it. It's just pointless.
