I just finished the game last night, did the true pacifist route. 0u0 I am never playing it again.

Kovie has been notably left out during the past three days I spent with the game and art of its characters on DeviantART and Tumblr.. x-x oops, but she hardly seems bothered by it now. As it was finally quiet in my head for a few moments she suddenly managed to say something clearly to me, which was a reminder to answer PMs on here and that she wanted to finally answer those questions left on our "Ask Ana's Tulpa" topic I posted so long ago. Perhaps I should make a new one.. or just edit it, whatever.

ANYWAY..

Sans is absolutely my fav character, i mean yeah i spoiled quite a bit of it for myself because of tumblr and poking around wikipedia, so i already had kind of a liking for him before i even started the game but... after playing through the true pacifist run and watching genocide playthroughs on youtube, i can't help but just completely adore him. he's such a good friend, a great brother, a crazy perceptive and intelligent nerd under the guise of jokes and laziness, and despite technically being the weakest character he is easily the most badass and coordinated fighter.

Aside from Sans though, I am really just in love with this entire game. Undertale is completely fantastic, and amusingly, it was made almost entirely by the audio producer for Homestuck. Toby Fox, I need more of this stuff in my life. Time loops, monsters and character development. It's all bloody amazing. *w*

For those of you that don't know what Undertale is, it's a top-down 8bit game about a conflict between monsters and humans. The plot is pretty straightforward, basically just human trying to escape the monster world one way or another, but the backstory is kinda complicated and you pretty much have to play the game through a couple times to really get it. However there's things in the game that give notable consequences to restarting, because some of the characters notice you "reset the timeline" and are putting them all through it again for your own amusement. The more times you play through the game, the more the dialogue changes, and some become resentful towards you for it depending on how you acted during each of your previous playthroughs.

THIS IS MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE THING, seriously.. when your conduct in game has consequences, combined with fourth wall breaking, and characters that actually seem more like people with real personalities, rather than just NPCs controlled by 1s and 0s for some particular use.

This really is just a rambling post, in hopes I'll find someone on here who also likes these things. Entirely off topic, but whatever. That's what this board is for.

Anyone wanna see a doodle I made of Sans?

Undertale is a pretty good game. I liked the idea of a game where you wouldn't have to kill anyone and I had no idea that it was going to be as silly as it was. Papyrus is my favorite character.

Sure, I'd like to see the doodle.

I haven't really bothered getting/playing the game, but I really like its sound track. Perhaps I'll get into playing it soon.

Oh yey, heh thanks Vos. I thought my doodle would be totally overlooked. ^^"

Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous [in a good way I think]. The characters are so well developed, and the backstory is really interesting. Really gives more depth to all the funny scenes that happen practically everywhere. XD Papyrus is fun, he's such a dork. Definitely one of those dumb but headstrong, benevolent main character types.

And yes the soundtrack is great *w* I've been listening to Megalovania non-stop for three days, and it's still awesome~

Undertale is by far my game of the year, game of the past several years. I know pretty much everything that is publicly known about it.

That being said, I just now (minutes ago) got off of the Twitch Plays Undertale stream, having been there all day. So my head hurts and I don't want to type anymore, just sleep. But, know that I was an integral part of it..

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

XD awesome Lumi, perhaps then you could explain to me the whole thing about Gaster. I only have vague ideas of what I've heard about him, but i really don't get it.

So, something I don't understand about undertale is how can past play throughs affect

The current one? I read a bit about it, but does it just lead to different dialogue?

"Try to get a better understanding of things before making your judgement." -Khan, Metro 2033

yep, i believe the only noteworthy thing that changes in multiple playthroughs is dialogue, though i'm sure there are a few other things i don't know about [i've only played through once and don't intend to play through it again, so i've not experienced the differences in dialogue, except for when i've been killed by a character multiple times >I].

the reason past playthroughs affect the current is because restarting to do another play through "resets" the timeline in their world. in most games it's like yeah, whatever. but in undertale, it's not just you reloading. when you restart the game or reload from a save point after dying or something, your character is utilizing a power unique to them. control over the timeline via saving/reloading, so basically things happen exactly as your character wants them to because if it doesn't they can just reload and try again. however your character doesn't forget what happened before reloading, that's the point of the power. so this changes your character's expressions and behavior as they go through the game reloading again and again and again. they've been through it already, they know what's going to happen and so they can use that to their advantage. the reason this affects dialogue is because some characters in game know your character has that power, and can guess from your character's behavior whether they've already been through that event or not. a good example would be when sans comments that you look really pissed off [though there was no apparent reason to be], and reasons that it was because you fell for a trick he had in mind and had just reloaded from it.

when you've gone through an entire playthrough, your character has experienced a lot by that point and probably knows at least one outcome of the majority of the events, and to start from the beginning again with that knowledge will significantly alter your character's reactions to them. the more times you restart and have your character go through everything again, the more they become familiar with the characters and events and all possible outcomes, until they can eventually do the entire timeline flawlessly, exactly as they want it because they know precisely what actions will lead to what. imagine living with someone like that, always seeming to know how everything is going to happen and thus always one step ahead. imagine seeing them do something, and noticing something about precisely how they did it makes you wonder if they had to do that three or four times before they managed it like how you just saw it. it's a really interesting idea actually, makes the idea of manipulation of time not so scary.. ya know, so long as it's given to the right person. XD

I have this bad habit of spoiling EVERYTHING about a game I hear about that I think I won't be very interesting in playing via lets plays and wiki. I severely regret doing it for this game. Oh, the emotions and surprise and feels I could of had if I didn't do it... ;-;.

I'm not going to listen to you guys since you are all probably just talking to yourself and don't really have a tulpa like me.
