Pagans?

I have known many Hellenic Polytheists who consider themselves under the pagan umbrella. It just depends on how you define 'real paganism' I suppose. Though most Wiccans, and I'm speaking very generally, just see them as manifestations of their Lord and Lady. Different masks to wear depending on different needs of a society. I'm a hard polytheist. My belief is that they're all distinct, separate entities.

Well from what I perceived about wiccans it is something between what you described and something in the direction of a videogame, since they widely assign certain gods of different old religions to have certain powers and attributes regarding specific things, and this often without taking the original idea about the god in account, which feels pretty odd to me. (Too be fair I didn't look that deep into it). It makes you wonder where they initially got this idea about their gods, since they appear to describe it in a detailed way, but unattached from the original source.

About the why/why not taking magic into accout for tulpamancy:

If you follow a scientific route it is pretty easy to detect errors or identify issues. You get advice you can understand on a logical level, so you can pretty much figure out how it really will affect you. People will be able to help you without making wild accusions, and they won't declare your efforts as nonsense without a good reason for it.

Form: Realistic Humanoid/Demonic Creation

She may or may not talk here, depends on her.

Ah I know what you're talking about. Assigning a list of attributes to a set of deities saying 'use this God for help in love'. No. I don't subscribe to that line of thinking. I find it disrespectful in the extreme. I actually keep my Gods separate from my magic. I don't 'use' them in spells. I prefer to rely on my own skills and talents. When I say I'm devoted to them, I pray to them, make offerings and devote activities in they're honor. They're more than just a set of attributes.

But yeah, a lot of Wiccans do tend to think that at first. That sort of attitude is in a lot of Wiccan beginner books. I find it very disrespectful, personally.

And that is a very good point about the scientific approach to it. Magic does tend to bring a very big level of uncertainty to things.

I started off creating Sebastian the scientific way then decided to add a killswitch a few days in, because according to the meta method...it's almost certain your tulpa will turn on you when it gains enough sentience (I got scared).

He got really upset and left for awhile, which made me really sad as well. When he came back he had a lot of trust/existential issues. He still does. He felt like I would dispose of him if it inconvenienced me and he could do nothing about it. He also felt I didn't trust him.

I removed the killswitch shortly before he came back, but he still doesn't like hearing the word. Everything is slowly getting better now though :)

I think mixing the methods is what caused my problem, but the fact that tulpas turning is more of an occurance in the metaphysical method should be a sign.

I can see that leading to some trouble yes. I need to do a lot more reading about the differences between creating tulpae scientifically versus metaphysically. But you gave me something to think about, for sure. Thank you very much for sharing that with me.

Some might call what I am half-pagan. Not sure I'd use that term myself but I thought I'd at least chime in here once. ^^;

I'm a Christo-Druid. I am essentially Christian that incorporates Druid practice (and holidays) and the belief that nature is alive in more than just the scientific definition if "living".

I am of the belief that plants are part of a group consciousness, I've seen people call this the Gaia theory, and I rather like that term. An article I read somewhat recently on studying how aware plants are showed some interesting info that has me unsure. Spark notes version is they learned plants are as aware as we are, and feel and communicate with each other too. They just "move" and process things absurdly slow O.o

I used to practice Wicca years ago, and still carry certain beliefs over from it, such as the veil between the physical and spirit world being thin around Samhain (Halloween for those who don't know) and again in spring. I've also been involved in (non violent, self help type) Satanic practices in the past. I don't identify with any particular religion now, though I think there's probably something more going on than what we can see.

As it relates to tulpamancy, doing energy work and magick involves A LOT of visualization and concentration, which I think is why tulpamancy seems to come to me so easily now, so I'd say it's definitely beneficial. Basically if my tup and I think a technique we come up with will work, it usually does. That said I don't see tulpae as something meta, and take the scientific/logical approach to them.

It's best to just call me Beany.

Hex will speak in italics, if she decides to.

Yeah, I'm mostly an eclectic pagan at this point. I don't mix my paganism and tulpa stuff, and mainly when I do magic it's lazy magic (sigils, wards, prayer)

Part of why I chose this username, really. (I am thinking of giving my tulpa, Patrick, a full-bodied energy system of chakras when I get done with imposing him, though. That way he could be able to do magical workings alongside me!)

I don't consider myself pagan or druid but wow, what you've described here matches my beliefs almost to a t.

I'm pagan! I only recently began considering myself pagan though, so I don't know very much about it. I'd just never really connected with my hosts religion completely, and when I read about paganism it just sort-of... fit.

I am new here and a Norse pagan. It's great to find other pagans! I also am of a metaphysical bent with tulpamancy. Hence coming to this part of the forum. Very excited to talk to others!

I'm an Eclectic witch, been so for 5 to 7 years at least! I only really delved into tulpa typed stuff a month or two ago although i had tulpas (I didn't know they were tulpas at first) and knew about them way before as i had a friend who had a very lovely tulpa  :)

Not too active and the others don't talk very much to strangers.
