It's early for me so I may have read this wrong, but it sounds like you're saying that furry is a fetish or sexually-based.

No, it was intended in me generalizing how people may tend to fixate more on others applying the sexual and fetish related context with “furry.” I don’t think fetishes or sexual content is what all “furry” entails whatsoever; This is why I mentioned “peaceful imagination” as a quick distinction from that—more safe and casual practices with that. In other words, anything that doesn’t have the impression of adult-related context (sexually). Just like with any community that will revel in certain aspects with a concept, if it gets covered by media, ones that seem to give a more negative connotation becomes abused and capitalized.

It gives a false impression of the communities involved when that’s done. I'm not chalking up "furry" with that negative connotation--there's more to it than that, obviously.

Most people outside the furry community, when they think of animal like tulpas, what tends to come to mind is animal spirit guides and the sort- I noticed that KT didn't say anything about being anthro in that documentory, and there was nothing to imply it, nor was there anything sexual in there, too. I know KT went out of his way to make sure none of that kind of stuff was brought up.

I saw the mini-doc on youtube. I thought it was fair. I mean the shrink thought it was okay if it didn't hurt anyone. I don't think they went far enough. Tulpas are more than imaginary friends. I mean the Tibetans didn't think they were just imaginary friends. Maybe there will be more news stories on tulpas.

Jesus flipping Christ.

It is amazing how they manage to find the worst examples every time.

I know this is a bit of old news, but I have been wanting to comment on this since the video came out, but I was on a self ban during that period. I want to say very clearly that I thought that Sam and KT were incredibly brave for doing this. They did it for all of us and did something few of us are brave enough to do, go fully public.

To say she and KT were the worst example is awful. My host and I have always, always hated this tendency to have a pecking order in the tulpa community, who is the best tulpamancer and who has the most legit and valid tulpa. It stinks. It is snobbery and it stinks. Some of the people making the worst comments are rarely here and do little to promote or support the community except to pop in and criticize others for their efforts and what they do. I was disappointed in this kind of reaction to this documentary that actually excited me and my host a lot.

Edit: When KT begins talking, I can almost feel the reporter cringing.

Overall, I agree with Waffles. It comes off as "super cringe" to me as well.

To say the video was "cringe worthy" is also kinda hypocritical. To the outside general world all of us, and the idea of tulpamancy itself, probably look cringe worthy. If my host David were to do the same interview about me and himself, he would be terribly cringe worthy. Many of you switch and possess, how non-cringe-worthy would you be in comparison if that switching and possession were on camera? How would anyone else other than Sam and KT suddenly look more legit and credible and not cringe worthy?

We actually loved the interview and how the story was handled!

Thank you Sam and KT!

I actually really liked this. I didn't get the cringe factor. The host doing the interview was very kind and seemed more than willing to try and understand the phenomena. Yes the idea and Sam/KT's switching ability was brought up, and tv does need to sell, but I wouldn't say it was overly focused on.

Precisely. I think it was well handled considering how bad it COULD have been. The interviewer made a good effort to be respectful of a very strange idea.

P.S. Let's not forget that Sam and KT are also the founders of our "sister forum" Tulpa.io. Sam and KT are a force for good and damn it, they should be respected for that.

P.P.S. There is NOTHING WRONG with a furry tulpa, a pony tulpa or any other form of tulpa someone would like to have.
