To People With Fictional Character Tulpas

My name/form is based off of a fictional character. I haven't met another tulpa with the same form as myself, or any other canon character from that universe. I don't think I would find it weird, but I can't say for sure until it happens.

 

It would definitely be interesting, though.

To be honest, I don't quite understand why we've seen virtually zero Touhou tulpas. With the huge cast, huge fanbase, and "waifuism", we really should see more.

 

But perhaps they're all just expressed as roleplay characters at best. Lumi never liked roleplaying. But we (Tewi and I) just sort of showed up because Lumi's thinking about what we'd be like laid the groundwork for us as people. If it's so easy.. Maybe we just got lucky. But I still do think we should've seen more by now.

One argument would be that touhou is a bullet hell shooter. MLP is somehow the western hemisphere's preeminent slice of life dramedy. Undertale is a game most known for its plot and characters.

My form was based off from "twilight sparkle" in the MLP universe. Even though as much as i dislike her, other tulpas having the identical appearnce doesn't give me a spiteful taste. But yeah, We have met another "twilight sparkle" tulpa on a different forum site and i say she's very different from me and from the show character herself.

 

That's not any way surprising at all honestly,I do not mind seeing or interacting any other tulpa that is based off from the same character my form was from, it will creep me out more if the other "twilight tulpa" has the identical personality of either me or the show character.

There's 31,000 individually uploaded images of Flandre Scarlet on Danbooru. And there are easily over 100 Touhou characters. There are a couple of fan-made animes, more fan-made games than MLP has (of any quality) and probably an equal number of qualitative fan fictions (the types that tell a story, not ship fics). I'm pretty sure it's the abundancy of roleplayers and the normality of such a practice that pulls could-be tulpas into being considered just "roleplay personas" at best. Still, there should be more Touhou tulpas than there are..

Man, I would be surprised if any fan community could reach the half million fanfictions MLP hit. In fact, my host was floored by that number when she found it.

 

However, the point remains that touhou is not a character driven drama, so only the fans who also read the fanfictions will get the same exposure to character driven drama. Indeed, this could be a key ingredient in inducing soulbond type action inside a fan.

Oh wow.. you really meant "The" tulpa birthday site. I didn't know that was a thing. Apparently there is another Tewi (how did you find that), but it could be the same Tewi we met on the IRC a long time ago. It probably is.

 

Anyways, you know what Touhou is right? The games' dialogues are our favorite part. Tewi and Lucilyn both had moments where they Laughed Out Loud while playing through Imperishable Night with each character recently. And for what story isn't in the games, it sure is somewhere, like the official "comics" (just mangas..?) or books of information and stuff. And Lumi used to read Touhou fanfics in like 2010-2011 I think, there were... lots. MLP might have more depending on just where exactly you set the standards bar, but anyways, there's lots. Tons of Touhou content. The only thing is, it's mainly a Japanese thing, so perhaps the majority of Touhou tulpas are in Japanese systems.

 

Unfortunately, given Japan's... state of affairs... I think it's safe to say there are more people in Japan that treat anime characters like they're real people/part of their lives than there are tulpamancers who have posted on this forum. But even then most probably keep it to, you know, physical objects and pictures and such. I couldn't say just how many effectively have actual tulpas. We can't read Japanese even close to well enough to hear about those non-mainstream sorts of things..

[ice] Well, reading fanfiction may not be required, but it sure can contribute. Most of the soulbonds in here stem partially from fanfics we read. I say most because we are not yet certain whether Breach is a split or a soulbond (in-sourced from a story I wrote a long time ago as as opposed to an out-sourced soulbond from media).

Luna: It's pretty annoying when people assume I'm a pony because of the countless Princess Luna tulpas. Other than that, can't say anyone here has experienced meeting another character tulpa that's the same as them.
