I wouldn't eat human flesh, even to survive. It is a crime against nature and those who engage in cannibalism ought to be liquidated on-sight.

 

I wouldn't blame someone for doing it in a crisis situation when that person is already dead. It makes sense to me. I see it as morally abhorrent in all other situations, I think. Don't eat someone that's alive. Don't eat human flesh when you don't need to.

If I got hungry enough, say in a post apocalypse, I would hunt you guys down one by one, roast you on a spit, and eat you. Those who hesitate to resort to cannibalism, for moral or ethical reasons, I would label "dinner."

that's the thing: transmissible spongiform encephalopathies take a while to incubate to fruition, so unless you're a doctor who can access equipment, specialists or a very keen and experienced diagnostic intuition, you won't know who or what is infected unless they are showing clear symptoms. Even worse, if you manage to stave off eating such creatures and persons, or simply choose not to, T.S.E.s like kuru can be contracted just by touching an infected subject's open sores or wounds.

 

Like-wise, there are environs that cannot accommodate and/or lack the resources for cooking at high enough temperatures for the time necessary to destroy diseases in kinds of flesh: the 1972 Andes Flight Disaster is one such case where-in the survivors had to eat the remaining bodies preserved in the snow.
