tulpa001 August 31, 2016 August 31, 2016 I don't really know for myself yet. But my host has a very complex system. You see, she has determined that at least one thing in the (physical) universe matters, as she wants things. Then, by denying solipsism as a plausible theory, she was able to determine that a large number of things functionally equivalent to herself matter. All her morality is based on logical deduction as to how one should behave under the assumption that these objects that want things matter. She has not deduced or hypothesised anything else to matter intrinsically. I am mainly just going along with that until I figure it out for myself. Host comments in italics. Tulpa's log. Tewi August 31, 2016 August 31, 2016 Fair enough, so you do just think your moral code is correct. If you acknowledge that it's only necessarily correct from your own perspective, you're golden. We've got something similar, but ours takes into account all others, then uses logic to decide how best to act. So we have no real sense of right or wrong, just a knowing of how others' ideas of right and wrong work, and we act on our values accordingly. It makes us rather accepting of different viewpoints, to say the least. Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. I often switch to take care of things for the others. tulpa001 August 31, 2016 August 31, 2016 Actually, no, this is a very specific point of her philosophy. You see... People fundamentally mattering is her moral theory. She does not insist that it is correct. It is a theory. She does not think that moral absolutism is a theory. She thinks that a fact. So in her mind, she might be wrong about what she thinks is right. Which is a fundamental consequence of the truth of moral absolutism, if true. So the belief system is internally self consistent. Tewi August 31, 2016 August 31, 2016 So the belief system is internally self consistent. Well, that's what's important. You kind of lost me otherwise though. At that point I just think, "It really doesn't matter that much. Act according to what achieves your desired results." Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. tulpa001 August 31, 2016 August 31, 2016 Cool. I see this being a discussion that can get painfully long and worse for many people. Good thing you didn't say doesn't matter at all. As moral nihilism is a form of moral absolutism. Edit: Oops. silly me. I meant moral universalism every time I said moral absolutism. That probably messed up my statements a bunch. Tewi August 31, 2016 August 31, 2016 Good thing you didn't say doesn't matter at all. "Doesn't matter that much" = "The default of (what I said) takes much less effort for similar results compared to working through this complicated system ((and the more complicated something is, the more likely it is to have flaws))" "Doesn't matter at all" = opinion Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. KarlYoshimura September 2, 2016 September 2, 2016 Pork is an interesting culinary substance. Yet you must cook it properly, lest you get parasites. According to cannibals, people have a similar taste to pork. In their lingo, a "heavy leg" is a human leg prepared similarly to a pork leg. Like-wise, human flesh is referred to as "long pig" in discretionary code. However, eating the stuff will give you the shakes. Eating a brain will give one kuru. Tewi September 2, 2016 September 2, 2016 Not off of a living person..? Chances are anyone in our system has better come to terms with death than whoever it is we'd have the option of eating, so again no. Plus none of them could do it anyways. Well. Scarlet could and would to survive. The body's wellbeing is her highest value, not others'. Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. I often switch to take care of things for the others.
