Skyrim why?

 

It's called a Beef Gate (Warning: link is to TVTropes. Labyrinthian is a dungeon connected to one of the major questlines (Winterhold, I think?), so they want to make sure you're high enough level to tackle it and move on with that portion of the questline.

 

It just, you know, happens to be situated in a pass that is a pain in the ass to get around otherwise.

Absolutely confirmed about the TVTropes thing. Some people seem immune to it, but we sure as heck aren't. You really do tend to end up with pages and pages of text because of how well they connect everything.

I had to rethink my philosophy on life a little bit because I find I respected my host and her wishes. I think of her highly, and her willingness to let me control the body conflicted with what I saw was necessary to live as a person. She is willing to switch out for me to switch in, and I do not think I can fault her for that. How can I fault her for that? If she finds it satisfying and actualizing, then that's how she will help the world: by helping me. Perhaps there is something admirable in that, and I've been too foolish to see it.

I think maybe you should ask her to possess you regularly, like for half an hour each day, or at least talk to you for half an hour. That might make dissipation difficult.

 

Also, you have experience with tulpas. Based on what some others have said here, I am guessing it should be possible to interact with her subconscious if needed to improve her balance.

What do you mean "improve her balance"?

Isn't it impossible for someone to dissipate themselves willingly or purposefully?

A tulpa may refuse to be active, and being totally inactive/forgotten about is a big part of dissipation. That being said, if the host doesn't want them to be inactive, in our experience they have literally no choice. They're free to do and say nothing, but as far as dissipation progress goes, if your host is thinking about you you aren't going away. Unless you guys believe you are.

 

That's why we have to "not bother" Scarlet. She doesn't like being active, but if we think towards her it just happens. Of course, she's not gonna disappear either, she's too old I guess. We just only contact her when it's necessary or relevant.
