I did that once for like weeks. I refused to surface or be active. It's not exactly dissipation. It's great for punishing a host for being an idiot. It makes him appreciate you more when you come back. *ahem* It's not very nice though.

A tulpa may refuse to be active, and being totally inactive/forgotten about is a big part of dissipation. That being said, if the host doesn't want them to be inactive, in our experience they have literally no choice. They're free to do and say nothing, but as far as dissipation progress goes, if your host is thinking about you you aren't going away. Unless you guys believe you are.

 

So if I could possibly keep her alive against her will, then?

If you guys are the logical type and not soulbond-walkin-parallel-dimensions-y, then sure, I don't think you can really just die like that. Especially the host, because they've got an entire life of establishing their identity in the mind, that can't disappear easily at all. But I would try and stay a little more positive than "Keeping them alive against their will".

Yes, you're right, I should remain more positive. It was more of a question of capability than anything. So I can do it. I would prefer not to have to do it.

Given our recent hospitalization, what would people think if I decided to not emulate Amber's mannerisms and they noticed she was acting very differently? What sort of suspicions would I arouse?

You should ease into it. If you don't plan on telling anyone, then act a little more you over time. If anyone ends up asking, just say you've been in a good mood/whatever mood or something like that. Friends and family assume that Lucilyn and Tewi are just moods. Since Tewi is usually active around times of, say, studying for finals and taking tests, it doesn't seem strange at all I'd be in a serious no-nonsense mood. Anyways, take it slow. And have fun dealing with all the weirdness that comes from taking someone's place in life. My tulpas had to get used to being called my name and responding like they were me.

I could definitely see that being something I do in the future. Easing into it. That's a good idea. I'm already having to get used to going by Amber's name, which seemed a bit unusual at first but I think I could get used to it. There are certain people who know who I could act like myself around, which would be nice, but I'd prefer not to have to act like someone else at all, even for a short period of time.
