Solune October 29, 2016 Author October 29, 2016 Figuring out what people really want to talk about? Their tulpas. The tulpas? They want to talk about themselves. As brought up here, everyone just feels it is pretentious and arrogant to do so, so no one does unless opportunity arises. Also, my account just says "Note that your signature will be hidden on the forums until you have enough posts." So I was asking if anyone knew the amount of posts before it shows up :/ Obviously I haven't posted much on this account, but my old account only had about 30 posts and was able to have a signature so idk. I wasn't even aware that there was a post limit... so I guess that shows how much of a noob I am. Sorry for misunderstanding you, I have no idea. I think there's more to it than a search for validation. I think they also want to make lasting connections with people that understand them. It's like we're at a school dance and everybody is just sitting on the side lines staring awkwardly at each other instead of dancing. I'm willing to admit that there may not be a feasible solution to that problem... but we might as well brainstorm ideas. What are our alternatives? Go to a different website and hope it works out better there, try to convince people in real life to treat our tulpas like "real people", or just keep to ourselves and our tuppers only talk to each other and us. It's totally fine if nobody in this thread cares about stuff like that. I just think it sucks that we all don't try to do more stuff together. NateAndTheTulpaTrio October 29, 2016 October 29, 2016 You need only 5 posts for your signature to be usable. So, the next time you post in one of the non-Lounge boards, you'll be good to go. This is an anti-spam measure, as spambots will register with links in the signature and such. Aha, makes sense. Thanks for the clarification :) It was a headache coming back to these forums after a year and seeing that the UI had changed immensely. I put ~1-2 hours into just trying to create a well-formatted signature. Kinda sucked seeing it wouldn't show up I'm here with my completely vocal tulpas; Rainbow, Asrielle, and Lapis. They might talk here sometimes, and when they do Rainbow will be italicized, Asrielle will be purple, and Lapis will be blue. We are currently able to do advanced visualization and we have the ability to switch. See profile for more info. Rainbow - 2/8/16 - Italicized Asrielle - 4/21/16 - Purple Lapis - 7/23/16 - Blue

No problem. A mod posted just now and clarified it. I think there's more to it than a search for validation. I think they also want to make lasting connections with people that understand them. Are you me? If not, are you reading my mind? You just made the practically the same analogy I was thinking up just now. As for different sites, I've tried r/tulpas on reddit cause they have a system in place that is like a pen-pal sort of deal. No responses so far. I tried their discord too, but no one really talks there (minus those who post almost excessively in their nsfw section...) I have some friends who enjoy talking to my tulpas, but because of limitations my tulpas don't feel like they get their "social fill" too often, you know? And that "keep to ourselves" solution... well that would kinda work for 3/4 of us. The other 1/4... I like having friends, and I like talking to friends. Kinda hard being that extroverted with only 3 people It's totally fine if nobody in this thread cares about stuff like that. I just think it sucks that we all don't try to do more stuff together. I care! The major reason I even visited this forum again was because of this reason! UPDATE: Finally made my fifth post, hooray my signature shows! Kinda hard being that extroverted with only 3 people Well, hanging out physically is off the table for 99% of users... so besides text posting, we have voice chat/video chat. I think THAT'S the problem! How can my three tuppers voice chat with me without it being weird? If we switch it's going to sound like 1 voice badly imitating 3 other people. Same problem for video chat because now you have 4 different sets of physical mannerisms to get used to. It's confusing as fuck... and, to be perfectly honest, it is immersion breaking for a lot of people. Their heightened self awareness (/nervousness) might make it even more difficult to switch properly. One idea I had is what if we do something like- "Luna says: go grab the rocket launcher on the 2nd floor, you noob!" It's not as satisfying to the tulpa as switching and using "their own voice", but it gets the job done and it's a hell of a lot better than nothing. We have a standardized system for communicating via text- right? The rules of the site say we either have to color code our words (or use italics or something) or we can do- Luna: Yo yo, wassup my nizzles? My point being that we need to come up with a standardized method of vocal communication for tulpas via the host. One may have already been proposed but I am unaware of such a thing. I know there are other reasons why people are shy when it comes to hanging out with people from this site, but don't you think that's a big chunk of it? Am I just totally off base here? You might want to click that "Attached accounts" button under my avatar. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Am I just totally off base here? Not totally off base here, but as someone who is currently working full time on this issue I can finally contribute something useful. Well, hanging out physically is off the table for 99% of users... so besides text posting, we have voice chat/video chat. I think THAT'S the problem! Their heightened self awareness (/nervousness) might make it even more difficult to switch properly. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have very accepting friends, we have done the occasional I-switch-with-one-of-my-tulpas-and-hang-out-with-friends kinda deal. I guess that makes me the 1%. We have also switched and chatted on Discord both verbally and text (we also played some games, it was fun.) When you start talking about how everyone (host and his/her tulpa(s)) can talk at once... I don' t think that would be possible unless you do something awkward like with what you had though of/proposed. We have a standardized system for communicating via text- right? My point being that we need to come up with a standardized method of vocal communication for tulpas via the host. One may have already been proposed but I am unaware of such a thing. On here (tulpa.info), we do the color coding thing like you said. On r/tulpas, we do different brackets [like] {this} |to show| who is talking. For those with more tulpas than bracket types, they just put the tulpa name before the message. In my own personal friend group (Discord) we do something similar to r/tulpas by putting two symbols before speaking via text. (ex: ~~Message A ^^Message B &&Message 3) I'm here with my completely vocal tulpas; Rainbow, Asrielle, and Lapis. Sock October 29, 2016 October 29, 2016 When it comes to my decreased posting, frankly, I was waiting for things to cool down, both on the board and in myself. Some issues with the forum months back made it nearly unbrowsable for me, and left me with a bitter taste in my mouth each time I tried to come back. I was annoyed just being here, so I decided to leave for a while and come back only when I felt comfortable enough with the board's atmosphere to really put in my word about the phenomenon. That, and frankly, I've been sick and had to take care of that before I could really do anything of worth community-wise, or even tulpa-wise. That's something I'll save for my progress report, though. I've start posting more art here, which is my attempt to break the ice for myself. Besides, no one else is so I figured I should, heh. Sock Cottonwell's Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread. Peace

I don' t think that would be possible unless you do something awkward like with what you had though of/proposed. I'm not saying that switching can't work, I just think it's not as accessible a method for a lot of members. Maybe we just suck at it, but it takes my system a couple minutes to switch and we really have to concentrate on the process. What you could do as a compromise would be to switch and then just have the fronter relay the messages. And you could take turns doing it that way. As long as it's clear who's fronting it wouldn't matter. As long as the people in the call agree on the method, you can do it however you like I suppose. Maybe more important than having a standardized method is simply propagating the etiquette of discussing this stuff at the beginning of a call. I mean, if this isn't what's holding us back then I guess it's all a moot discussion. I just felt like it was the biggest logistical issue. Maybe people here are just hardwired to be anti-social (with some notable exceptions). Not much we can do about stuff like that. I would love to get a regular gaming group together (even if it was just stuff like chess or whatnot). Doesn't have to be "Call of Battlefield Glitch Simulator 2017"... I've start posting more art here, which is my attempt to break the ice for myself. Besides, no one else is so I figured I should, heh. I feel like my lack of artistic ability holds me back from contributing more. How long did it take you to become proficient at it? Once I'm done being poor I really want to get a tablet and learn how to draw properly. *I'm also interested to hear what specifically turned you off to the site. Remember, I totally called Switzerland dibs so nobody is allowed to retaliate against you (as long as you don't name names). And on that note, I am going to bed. I shall respond to shiz later.
