Oguigi September 11, 2012 September 11, 2012 It's agreed that a Tulpa is a sentient being with a consciousness. I like to think that an Tulpa is when consciousness a takes hold in another sentient being mind. people can switch places with their tulpa, Their consciousness goes to the mind Becoming a Tulpa. and the tulpa consciousness goes to the physical body thus effectively becoming that person. A tulpa is just as conscious as we are. thus assuming ( consciousness = Soul ) Then Yes the Tulpa is a second soul. (or you and the tulpa can be Two Consciousness in One Soul lol?) _____________ consciousness exists in many nearly uncountable forms. we should be very lucky we ended up being humans (even luckier that we are humans that enjoy the internet and live in a 1st world country) and not some short lived animal/alien. and the tulpas are lucky for being essentially humans(mind) as well. pix: Link Diary: http://ponystasha.tumblr.com Koomer.
mahou_shoujo September 11, 2012 September 11, 2012 Since a soul can't really be proven, it seems kind of a non issue whether tulpae have them or not, as it ultimately comes down to speculation based on whatever belief system you are embedded in. To make the question more palatable, one could ask "does a tulpa truly have consciousness," to which I think most people would say "yes".
TulpaCouple September 11, 2012 September 11, 2012 I guess my question would be what part of the mind and spirit is the soul? Is the soul more than your consciousness, or is it even affected by your conscious mind? What if the soul is more your subconscious. Your dreams. What if that is your 'true' self. Your tulpa would be a part of that, your soul would reflect the experiences and dreams of both the creator and tulpa, and all the other subconsciously or consciously created thoughtforms that exist in your mind. If that was the case, you could say having a tulpa doesn't mean having two souls in one body, but the consciousnesses together intertwine--their experiences and thoughts shared in a single soul. Our entire self--including all the ideas and consciousnesses living in our body being involved in one soul. Who knows, maybe the afterlife has a different level of consciousness. We might not be the us we know, but the us we are in our subconscious. Ideas springing to life and no limitations to thought or the physical. It's difficult to say. Is consciousness a soul? Is there more to a soul than that? Maybe it is just as simple as consciousness/sentience=soul. But I'd say it's impossible to prove. Fun to think about though.
Genesis September 11, 2012 September 11, 2012 My guess on the matter would be that since you create your tulpa with your mind, and it lives only in the confines your mind, it is like you are making another part of yourself, like the tulpa is an extension of your own soul. I am not much of a metaphysicist, but I think it would be strange to think that people would have to power to summon multiple souls to live in their body by just conjuring up a character in their mind. So my final answer would be that it is just a part of your own soul. “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” - Albus Dumbledore Tulpas: Sarah, and Monty
Cawffle September 18, 2012 September 18, 2012 I think it's folly to consider 'soul' as something of increments, as in "everybody gets one". Rather it is more likely a pervasive life-force within which life/consciousness is contained. That would lead one to believe that a secondary consciousness is gifted some of the host's essence- which is unlikely to be of limited supply anyway. Alternatively, considering a body/brain is shared, there might be no transfer of essence/soul, it is simply shared.
madrezaan October 22, 2012 October 22, 2012 Reincarnation is dictated by Karma. Therefore, the question is: Are Tulpa effected by karma? If they are, then they reincarnate. If they are not, they don't reincarnate and can't be considered another soul. Tulpae are mind-born and sentient. Since they are born, they have a cause for their birth. It's their karmic cause. Since they are sentient, they have their own mind, and can make decisions and perform actions themselves. It's their karmic effect. In Buddhist point of view, all sentient beings that are within the bounds of cause & effect (karma), could (and will) reincarnate. So, tulpae should reincarnate too. Santa Prime November 25, 2012 November 25, 2012 Assuming we could reach a acceptable definition for a soul I would say yes. Since as far as I am concerned humans are considered to have souls by society. My tulpae feel like different individuals that share in one whole self. So if I have a soul then they do as well. Assuming reincarnation for a moment you could speculate that a tulpa might be an expression of a previous life that is attached to one soul. Assuming heaven exists for a moment weather or not your tulpa will be with you might depend greatly on the kind of god that was there. There are many gods and afterlives believed in by many people so I must say this is a difficult question to answer. If the god in heaven is kind loving and caring then they probably would have no problem letting your tulpa be there with you. If god is that jealous sort from the old testament he might very well obliterate your tulpa right in front of you for taking attention away from himself.
