glitchthe3rd December 16, 2012 Author December 16, 2012 ...I know. Damn the internet is bad at relaying sarcasm. :P I stopped caring about apocalypse theories since I heard there were apocalypse theories. But honestly, do any of you, Luna, Saria, and Elise know exactly what age is beginning? I'm curious what exactly your plan is - either be the Messiah of a new age or go even more insane. (Disclaimer: I mean no offense to anyone.) In short, there will be a paradigm shift in what it means to be a scientist, which will be followed by a renaissance of spirituality. All of this will probably transpire in our lifetimes, with other consequences arising from it beyond our lifetimes. As a budding scientist (CS/math/psychology/pretty much any science) and a pretty spiritual guy I'm very interested. So you plan to orchestrate this? Take part in it? I'm confused. (Damn this life will be awesome...) Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend anyone, tulpa or host, by anything I post. Tulpa: Settled on Aleana; means "rising, ascending" in Hebrew. glitchthe3rd December 16, 2012 Author December 16, 2012 A little bit of both, I guess. You can't have a revolution with one person, and I would be needing a lot of support from academic circles just to be taken seriously. The main reason is it's simply unfashionable for scientists to be associated with the supernatural right now, but that is about to change. Science will become less objective and more participatory in nature, and this will change the meaning of being a scientist. jean-luc December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 I would be needing a lot of support from academic circles Where do you plan on getting this? Stats is back: https://stats.jean-luc.org/ My visits to tulpa.info are chaotic. If you want me to see something, make sure to quote a post of mine or ping me @jean-luc
glitchthe3rd December 16, 2012 Author December 16, 2012 I don't know yet. "Science isn't about why, science is about why not?" -Cave Johnson Tulpae: Luna, Elise, Naomi My progress report
biblioman December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 Well damn. *takes notes* I'm also interested because my mother has access to an EEG machine, and I'm doing a tulpa-based experiment with her, starting today with a pre-test. Anyway, and this starts in 6 days? Or was that just something unrelated that Saria said? I have one piece of advice: If you wouldn't mind, take me with you - I'd love to be part of a scientific revolution. Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend anyone, tulpa or host, by anything I post. glitchthe3rd December 17, 2012 Author December 17, 2012 ^ We'll see. For the time being, this is primarily between me and the academia. "Science isn't about why, science is about why not?" -Cave Johnson Tulpae: Luna, Elise, Naomi My progress report
waffles December 17, 2012 December 17, 2012 You realise that a once-supernatural concept becoming scientific isn't science embracing the supernatural. The concept ceases to be supernatural, that's all. Modern science is, and always has been, grounded in experimentation. Moreover spirituality and science have been drifting apart over human history, and it's unlikely that they'll close in again. Where are you getting this 'scientific revolution' stuff from?
glitchthe3rd December 17, 2012 Author December 17, 2012 Basically to sum it up, different disciplines of science have been making inroads into the supernatural for several years now, but a paradigm shift will be necessary in order to properly investigate phenomena like tulpaforcing that one cannot simply sit on the sidelines and take notes on. waffles December 17, 2012 December 17, 2012 But that's not true. For one - as I said before - science doesn't study the supernatural, but the supernatural becomes science. More importantly, the scientific community may be dogmatic in a sense, but not nearly so in the field of psychology - essentially a bullshit field anyway - to require any major change in structure. Proper investigation is held back only by lack of attention and the roots in the supernatural and so on, and both of these are changeable. It requires only a shift on our part for study to take place, and even then a simple change of attitude amongst those who are serious about it. Certainly nothing that would necessitate a paradigm shift on either part.
