I am no where near possession with Duvain, but yesterday's shower thoughts led to me wondering what it's like for tulpas, the first time they successfully possess a limb. Is it like tossing around a fish? Do they need to learn how to walk? Or do they have the skills we've developed to control our bodies from us? I guess this is a question specifically for your tulpas.

Duvain does not approve of this message.

Think of it like walking around in a full body costume. It takes some getting used to, and it feels kinda weird.

No they don't really need to learn how to control the body entirely, as you don't need to remember to breath every second. Your body comes with automated muscle memory.

Honestly, it wasn't difficult for me because like Kaz with a K mentioned, there would be automated muscle memory either way. I just used supplementary activities (e.g. hypnosis and image streaming) to continue giving myself the assurance, rather than trying to gain it through communal effort to make a breakthrough with possession. I just didn't bother worrying about the whole "am I manipulating my tulpas!?!?!" that newcomers and even veterans that have thick skins and/or cognitive dissonance that prevents them from being suggestive enough (i.e. willing to believe the conceptual framework of tulpas is subjective, but then question and demand scientific evidence to explain a phenomenon that's nowhere close in having scientific measures that have consistent and repeatable predictive qualities to them).

It's really being suggestive, and knowing your mind already has the means to associate with the symbolism and all that. But with that said, when applying this to a tulpa that's presumably sentient enough to go through the same mannerisms we would have to go through in gaining competence in something, the learning curve is going to vary on many factors. I've seen a few anecdotal claims of tulpas being able to seamlessly shift in and out of control. Maybe one reason for that is that the tulpa had to intervene for a certain circumstance that the host would've been injured/hurt mentally or physically (i.e. host wanting to commit suicide, and the tulpa taking control due to acts of desperation).

I guess when there's a higher need for the sake of sustaining existence, the theories and conjecture we apply with competence and things taking time can sometimes seem to be the tip of the iceberg for anyone to give you a plausible answer honestly. People generally would subscribe to how things will take time even if one makes progress, because there’s always room for development in the first place.

And if someone claims to get possession down in a few weeks, most that took more than that would question and compare themselves, and think their claims are BS. Everyone’s different, and everyone’s mind is different in how things can connect faster, and presumably making the learning curve less intimidating for possession or other activities.

It's just one of those things that depends on whatever modes of cognition you've developed beforehand, and whether or not you can be consistent with the ideology of treating tulpas as sentient beings and knowing they need time to develop either way...or whatever panglossian philosophy(ies) you want to go with.
