This thread gave me nostalgia... :')

About your reasearch thing, I was Ivo's somekind of imginary friend. Then, I got an upgrade not so far away from that first moment transforming into its... armor? (I don't know how to exactly say it) and his closest friend since then. He voted for the second option because I was developed the wrong way: first, my mind and then my actual form a couple years ago. He couldn't see me, but he could sense me until I got at least a body. And we noticed that I was called "a tulpa" last year.

So yeah, you can develop imaginary friends and "upgrade" them to tulpas as well I think

We like helping other people and learning new things in the process

Tulpae (years of existence):

Cross (16 years) - Angel || The cool a̶n̶d̶ ̶c̶r̶a̶z̶y̶ one

Pr. Artemis (2 years) - Alicorn || The serious and correct one

There's no option for "No, I had no friends, real or imaginary."

Nor is there an option for "I had real friends too"

Although I didn't have real friends. My invisible friends- I knew what they looked like, but I couldn't see them. One of them was named Millie and she was... okay basically River Song. And then the rest were literally the letters of the Greek Alphabet.

Omega had asthma. That's honestly all I remember about them.

I did. It was a human-sized walking cat. I couldn't see him imposed, but my mental picture of him was very clear and was projected into space in such a way that I could "see" him moving around, doing stuff, etc. His actions seemed half independent of me, half not. One time he showed me a gun (we lived in a dangerous area when I was a little kid) and that was a surprise. My mom got upset, so he moved out and I never saw him again.

I don't think I could bring him back really, but then again I also wouldn't want to.

when i was but a boy i seen/ connected with all the characters from cartoons and video games, and just said that they where my friends that hung out with me.. and i guess i mental rp'd with them, although i didnt know how to do in wonderland only movements while keeping focused on other things as i grew older to now, looking back it just seems that most of the characters where like NPCs, they wouldn't interact with me unless if i interacted with them and some of the out of character banter seemed... robotic at first to indifferent to quirky. it was kind of odd seeing mario and charlie brown discussing things but really who was i to blame, i when i was a boy was the owner of my own "studio" while i was imagining. lol.. so i guess to now i never really thought much about invisible friends not being as imaginary, but just.. there and we never knew their existence until you found out about them

You were a soulbonder as a child!?

I had some real friends but very few and none imaginary, it was too much effort in imagining friends saying things and acting, because of my illness it made me feel very tired so I just didn't have any imaginary friends, when my tulpa started talking with me it felt a lot easier since I didn't need to imagine anything, he did everything by himself.

But I remember a sad moment when my sister had an imaginary friend and she told me about it, I thought it was the same as my tulpa and he told me they were not the same, it was an imaginary friend to her and it would be gone in a few days just because she would get bored with it and it was true, it didn't stay for long, it made me feel sad somehow.

I have had the same one for 56 years, since I was 5 years old. He protected me when I was a child, since the house seemed haunted at night. I have had 6 others for about the last 20 years; they all get along fine together. I thought no one else understood this phenomenon, until I found the website. I felt that it was important that they have free wills. They are very dear to me.

I've lost count of the imaginary friends I had. When I was little they tended to be video game characters and I'd imagine them in the environment around me; I was also the kind of kid who talked to their dolls, just in case they were actually alive. Hell, I even talked to the trees at my school at one point and gave them all names.

Later, one of those voices you use to argue back and forth with in your head just spontaneously took on its own form and became a close friend to me, although I'm sure I was parroting and puppeting her at least 95% of the time, so she wasn't quite a tulpa or anything.

Soon enough, more like her showed up out of nowhere and I ended up with a whole imaginary world full of these characters. Unlike the imaginary friends I had when I was little, I didn't imagine these in the environment around me; they stayed in their own world. Lots of of them were personifications of problems I had or aspects of my personality. Lots of them gave me advice or had imaginary tea with me. I suspect I was using some of them to try and compensate for the lack of real life friends I had, but they were special to me.

I had a lot of imaginary friends when I was a kid! Melian was the one that stuck around and became a thought form.
