Luminesce October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Yeah, maybe someone could make a podcast about tulpas. Someone used to but I think they're dead. Maybe if someone made a weeklong event celebrating tulpas. Or if we had someone who posted large philosophical walls of deeply analytical text wherever they went. Or if we had some staff that actually knew what they were talking about. Or some actual tulpas to talk about things from their perspective. Maybe if we had someone who wrote about their tulpas in an excited and ever-optimistic way to inspire the community to do the same... Wait he's actually gone. I guess those other people we don't have will have to do. I was referencing Cinemaphobe, by the way Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us stuff.
Brassow October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Allow me to poke my head out from the forum games to spew my opinion: people simply tend to move on. Take a look at today's birthdays? How long did that person stay on the site? Usually I find 1 week to one month. Perhaps adding the monthly thing at the time deters people from leaving, they want to join in on the community. However, several dozen people writing a guide seems absurd. I would like to see some sort of team system and have random users he judges. For example, every person who joins is put through a random number generator to make teams (like the mafia games... RIP...) Those teams work to make the best guide, and the winning team gets some form of prize... Perhaps a badge that lasts a month? Just my humble opinion/suggestion. I was referencing Cinemaphobe, by the way Most of my PR is an account of my day-to-day life with tulpas (before the rule change that, iirc, said that PRs had to focus on stuff that qualifies as "progress"), usually updated daily. I've been told that it's motivational. Not sure if that fits your "excited and ever-optimistic" idea. Rainbow Dash: I think Linkzelda can cover the philosophical stuff. Maybe I could give my experiences? Then again, it's probably different for every tulpa. Then again, we might find commonalities--"tulpas A and B both have an experience that fits into some theme/category" :D !
jean-luc October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Someone used to but I think they're dead. Can't tell if you're joking or not. In case you aren't, I make a podcast, and I'm certainly not dead, and it's still going. I don't visit as often as I used to. If you want me to see something, make sure to quote a post of mine or ping me @jean-luc
Luminesce October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Man, I applied to your dang podcast, it was a joke. I guess that's a Youtube-comments thing, people like to joke about a Youtuber being completely dead if they have even a slight delay in their uploads. @Krueger I specifically mentioned who it was because I realized after writing it it really wasn't obvious who I meant. Lots of people write good progress reports, and most of them have their fans. I just remember Cinemaphobe came out of nowhere and suddenly everyone loved hearing about his life and tulpas. He ended up leaving due in part to the changes in rules on progress reports, and a lot of people were sad to see him go. The people I referenced were, respectively, Jean-luc, myself, Linkzelda, allthestaff, and all the tulpas that do just that. I don't know why I wrote the last part, Cinema just came to mind when I read the thread title. RIP Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. KruegerMeister October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 Is there a way he could have kept his report the way it was in spite of the change?
Luminesce October 6, 2015 Share October 6, 2015 He was fine, just a little paranoid sometimes. He didn't like people telling him what to do/not do or judging him when he opened himself up. His PR was like, *mentioned* in the rules update post, and he just plain left. It's not like we really enforce those rules anyway, but they sure were self-enforced because a ton of people who considered the PR forum a blog left. Hi! Guest Anonymous October 9, 2015 Share October 9, 2015 What this place needs is one thing: People. Sure, people are not going to stay here forever but we need a stream of people so that when people do leave we have people to replace them. I remember in the early days when if you posted a thread you could expect 20 replies within the hour. What we need is to introduce tulpas to more people who otherwise wouldnt know about them. We need ads put up. Maybe start with 4chan. They do cheap ads and there are bound to be tonnes of weebs and such dying to have a tulpa.

With all due respect, the last thing we need is advertising for people just for the sake of having people, random people at that, people who would depreciate of the value of tulpas, 'weebs' and such would only make tulpas for sexual satisfaction for instance, or due to infatuation with a certain character. I'm speaking as someone who is not a weeb yet still has a tulpa who looks 'animu'. If advertizing is to be done, then it should definitely be done over a certain selection of niche users over certain specific websites, other plural communities, places where people would take this seriously. We shouldn't seek the activity of people with, first, no real experience, but more importantly, people who won't take this seriously. Advertising waves could be organized and if a project of the like is brought up I'm sure all of us could contribute over the internet, but we do not need this specific kind of exposure. You bring up valid points but lets be honest, the plural community as a whole isnt very big. Most of what counts is roleplaying on tumblr and the rest are either living normal lives with no contact or already ingrained in their own community. We need to reach out to people who have never heard of a tulpa before but might be intrested. Sure, people might make tuppers just for sex or might not take it seriously but those people are quick to bore and will leave. The people who are really intrested will stay. You dont sell iphones to people who already have iphones, do ya?
