KenzieK February 11, 2014 February 11, 2014 INTJ seems to be unusually common among this survey, while it is a rather rare personality type. Interesting... i noticed that too. one of my good friends, who also has a tulpa, has the INTJ personality type. i told him about this survey. I wonder why this is? Guest Anonymous February 16, 2014 February 16, 2014 i noticed that too. one of my good friends, who also has a tulpa, has the INTJ personality type. i told him about this survey. I wonder why this is? Well, you can see that there's more Is than Es, Ns than Ss and Ts than Fs, Js and Ps being roughly equal. E vs I: nothing unexpected, making imaginary friends in your head resonates better with a more inward focused personality S vs N: Uhm, "down to earth" vs more abstract thinking, same as above T vs F: Not quite sure, maybe something along the lines of "feelers develop other methods of coping with the reasons people create tulpas" or something. Dunno.
left blank March 7, 2014 March 7, 2014 T vs F: Not quite sure, maybe something along the lines of "feelers develop other methods of coping with the reasons people create tulpas" or something. Dunno. I don't know if this holds true for others of my type, but as a combined N and F (specifically Fe and Ni) preference, I forged -- or encouraged the inadvertent creation of -- a sentient and sapient thoughtform to guide me through the reflection, interpretation, management, and direction of my emotions, mental processes and dreams. My tulpas have always been, and continue to be, a therapeutic device for cognitive and behavioural performance enhancement rather than a fantasy companion or means to allay loneliness, idleness and curiosity. Instead of reinforcing escapism, they persuade (and assist) me to directly confront uncomfortable situations. They also provide an incredibly effective way to meditate and alter my perception. Additionally, I conducted all of my initial thoughtform forays in isolation of related media, literature, and communities. So, for me, the experience was the (almost inevitable) result of a predisposition toward psychological exploration. But if memory serves, there are a few INTJs here who claim similar motivations, albeit with more focus on social inurement/improvement, so I'm not convinced cognitive preference alone determines impetus.
Linkzelda March 7, 2014 March 7, 2014 Beautiful post, Envolucris. 7 Hours of Active Forcing 8 Hours & 29 Minutes of Active Forcing 10 Hours of Active Forcing
left blank March 7, 2014 March 7, 2014 Why, thank you, kind sir. I'm worried it'll be read as pretentious (again). I hope others chime in to give their perspectives. One other piece of possible insight I meant to offer regarding the high number of I versus E and T versus F is that the same pattern can be seen on almost any other online community. My theory is that INTPs and INTJs, being the likeliest types to have the "nerd" stereotype ascribed to them, are naturally more drawn to the relative seclusion, ease of social regulation, order and mechanical systemizing that the internet provides. Whereas for me, I have very little patience for technology, and the kind of communication I'm engaging in right now causes me to feel stifled and almost depressed. I would enthusiastically choose public speaking, or interaction vis à vis, over typing on an iPad.
Azure_Flame April 5, 2014 April 5, 2014 Well, I'm ISTJ, and Moondust will take it as soon as I can perceive her without active forcing. Name: Moondust Personality: Quiet, kind, and loving Name: Feather Personality: Respectful, Pleasant, Honorable, Shy Name: Xeoburn Personality: Sarcastic and rude, but still friendly
ErrantStarPilot April 7, 2014 April 7, 2014 Standard internet dweller INTJ here. I have only conceptualized my tulpa, starting today, but I did a few hours of passive forcing at work today. It was an interesting experience. A bit of cognitive dissonance and a lot of talking to myself in my head so far. I think that I have a pretty good plan and will remain on track though. I have a relatively detailed layout of the mindspace in which the tulpa will reside and drew a rough map on a sheet of paper to help me remember. I only have vague images of the tulpa so far, I want it to choose its coherent form. I have started calling it Proteus.
