So, what, it's supposed to be "the tulpas phenomenon"? I think he just used tulpæ instead of tulpa. If it were plural, he would've written tulpæs.

 

Also that was probably written in 2012.

Yeah, like if you had a bunch of pigs flying around, you might call it the Pigs Phenomenon.

 

I don't know why pigs came to mind but pigs.

Why would you use a plural in the phrase "the __ phenomenon" anyway? 

 

Would you say "the ghosts phenomenon"? No, you'd say "ghost."

Would you say "the felines phenomenon"? 

Would you say "the hot dogs phenomenon"? 

Would you say "the schools phenomenon"? 

 

No, no, and no. You'd use the singular.

Yes, yes, and maybe? I'd use the plural in most cases. Saying “the hot dog phenomenon” makes it sound like it's a phenomenon involving one specific hot dog.
