Back when I was in college during a psychology course I gave something similar to this a try. I was writing a paper on phantom limbs, and a major portion of it was devoted to the idea supernumerary phantom limbs (limbs that a person never had in the first place) and species dysphoria. The basic gist of it was that people with species dysphoria have supernumerary phantom tails/wings/ears/etc. because they pretty much forced those limbs into existence by concentrating and visualizing themselves constantly with those limbs, not because their "auras/energies" were those of another creature. And that they were actually feeling these limbs, rather than just faking it to feel like special snowflakes.

I wanted to write on first-hand experience, so I spent about a month imagining myself with cat ears and a tail. I would imagine their movements when I walked, and in response to my emotions. I would "touch" them and imagine how they felt. Sure enough, I started literally feeling them even though I have no spiritual attachment to the cat. It was... kind of awesome, I'll admit :) The most interesting thing was that I assumed if I stopped thinking about them long enough, they would go away. They did fade, but on occasion they seem to "pop into existence" at random times every few weeks or so.

But yes, if anyone here is currently trying to force phantom limbs on themselves and is stuck on a problem, I don't mind trying to help out! It is a rather interesting experience!

So... how does one create a phantom limb? At the moment, I'm just imagining myself with one. And it's psychologically uncomfortable.

That's all. You imagine having additional limb and after some time it is feeling more and more realistic. (or dive deep into wonderland and mess with own form, it's easier that way)

one time when i was just waking up i had wings. i could see them & feel them & they hurt. but i might have just been half dreaming though. i've been imposing fox ears & tail for a bit but mostly focusing on my tulpa. i do spend a lot of time imagining i don't have boobs, no idea if it's had any affect on my spiritual body though. i' m gunna try to give my fox ears the ability to hear the spirit world

I heard about a guide floating around that told you how to get phantom cat ears/tail... anyone know where it is?

Despite the name, the host bodybody is the one usually using this account.

Spice was born in 2013 and Tomoe was born in 2014.

Even though this would have no practical use, imposing a limb for yourself seems extremely badass.

I agree.

Is it just me or do I think it's cool have to be able to feel cat ears?

That's on my list next, haha. I'm curious of how I'd force it through my hair, though...

I knew someone who had every detail of an animal body fully imposed. So yes, it is possible, though taking it to such an extreme would likely basically be insanity.

Must try...

I think I'm going to try these too. But at a later stage. I want to impose my tulpa first.

It's supposed to be uncomfortable at first. Your mind is feeling weird things it has never felt before and is bothered by it. It means you're on the right track; you just have to let yourself get used to it, then it will become more automatic and more "comfy".

If you're trying to give yourself a phantom limb and feel nothing - no discomfort of the mind or anything - then you're doing it wrong :)

Im confused. I just woke up from a fishy dream in which I believe I felt pain, and I'm kinda groggy. So... HOW exactly do you do this. Especially when laying down... like I am right now. I want to imagine fox tail, ears, and whiskers by the end of the year at the most, maybe by the end of summer vacation, which hasn't even started yet. :(

And that's how I ended up in this padded cell

I didn't read this far before making my first post, but I just thought of something when I read this:

i' m gunna try to give my fox ears the ability to hear the spirit world

This may be a helpful idea for those with tulpas that are just starting to talk:

* Give the ears the ability to hear your tulpa.

* Anything heard through the second set of ears is the Tulpa. (Depending on how well it's done, it may even work as an anti-parroting technique)

* If you lose focus on your tulpa(s), they should still be able to get your attention back if you're still aware of the ears.

I'm at the right stage to test it:

At this point, I can only hear my tulpa when I'm focusing on her and in a completely relaxed (almost-asleep) state.

I'm going to give myself an extra set of ears and focus on associating them with my tulpa's voice.

If successful, I should be able to hear her clearly whenever I'm aware of the ears.

I will test it and post results if I remember.

So... HOW exactly do you do this. Especially when laying down... like I am right now.

Do you mean it hurts your phantom tail because you're laying down on it? That's the main gripe you hear from most people with phantom limbs :) The do "get in the way", and you have to switch up the way you do things to alleviate the discomfort. It's the trade-off you get for having a cool tail.

If you have a very sensitive phantom tail, the best thing to do would be to start sleeping on your side or your stomach, to keep from getting that feeling of crushing it.

* Give the ears the ability to hear your tulpa.

* Anything heard through the second set of ears is the Tulpa. (Depending on how well it's done may it even work as an anti-parroting technique)

* If you lose focus on your tulpa(s), they should still be able to get your attention back if you're still aware of the ears.

Divvying up sensations between two sets of ears? :D That is an amazing idea! I never even thought of something like that. I do hope you post the results; I'm very interested in how it will turn out.

Edit: I just realized you quoted someone else who had that idea :P harlequin, I also hope you post the results of your experiment here, too! Having two people trying this makes it even more interesting!
