Ember: Do you need to actually see it? Or, more consistently with phantom limb syndrome, just have the sense that it's present?  We haven't gotten anywhere with imposition, but we've gotten good enough at visualizing our forms overlaying the body to feel like our features, hair, proportions, and sometimes clothing are different when we switch, so long as we avoid mirrors. Our technique is nothing more than Indigo describes.

I've often felt the presence of a phantom tail. It got stronger after wearing a tail at a few conventions. If the limb in question is something you could physically duplicate, that might help create the right mindset.

Vesper: My fangs itch sometimes, like when I think about them or when I smell blood. But unless you identify as being something that would have a different physiology, I don't know how that would help you. I'm a vampire, and Ember, until recently, was a cat therian, with lower fangs as well as upper.

If you don't mind my asking, what sort of phantom limb do you have in mind and what does that have to do with you being an artist?

I'm not having fun here anymore, so we've decided to take a bit of a break, starting February 27, 2020. - Ember

I sometimes impose extra limbs so that I can interact with my (imposed) tulpa in public without people thinking that I'm crazy. If you want a method for doing such a thing without going through the whole process of learning imposition, Bears idea seems about right, I would also recommend taking some time to get immersed in the visualisation first. Why would you want such a thing anyway?

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

I like my wings because they feel 'good'.

I’ve had phantom wings without meaning to before. I like having them on my wonderland form, but I can get this nearly any time I want. I guess it’s like a kind of imposition, I’ve mostly just ignored it up until now.

Not sure if this is relevant or not, but if I have sunglasses on my head for a long time and take them off, I get phantom feelings of them still being there.

I have imposed a phantom tail, claws/paws, horns, etc. randomly every now and then, but I don't keep up with the habit. I could get into the habit, but I don't have much desire to.

Touch imposition took a really long time for me to develop, and even though it's slowly improving, I didn't notice it improving until several months after first trying. Despite all of this, my sense of touch imposition is far from perfect and the sensations I get now are still fairly weak. If I wanted to reduce pain I would struggle to make much a difference.

Like the others said, if you desperately wanted phantoms parts, it's going to take awhile. You may not even realize you're making progress until later, however if you spent all day obsessing over imposing the phantom limb, then several months could be cut down to a couple months.

As for the interacting with my Tulpa in real life thing, I prefer to simulate real life using the mind's eye and interact with Ranger there. However, I sometimes impose a phantom version of myself either over or by my body. The method I use depends a lot on how I'm interacting with Ranger. If I'm hugging him I prefer to do it in the mind's eye, but if we are both standing up on the bus then I would impose myself next to him. I don't impose myself over my body too often because I don't want to accidentally try and physically hug Ranger in public, but the other issue is physically moving my body helps increase the strength of the sensation, and I don't want to feel like I'm denying myself a better experience (and be tempted to move anyway). Plus, having four arms is a little weird...

I'm like never going to check this account. If you want to ask me something, you should check our status on Ranger's account instead.

Meow. You may see my headmates call me Gray or sometimes Cat.

I used to speak in pink and Ranger used to speak in blue (if it's unmarked and colored assume it's Ranger). She loves to chat.

so, ik this is a thread from a couple years ago and I don't have a tulpa, but I really want to know how to get this phantom tail to exist I guess? I'm currently trying to have a gray, blue, and purple fluffy Dragon tail and I feel like it's wrong to lay on my back because of it, which I'm thinking is a start, and I'm also feeling it at school a lot. is there anyone that can help me with getting it to be real for me?

It sounds like you made some really good progress so far! To make your sensations more intense, you may want to think about how heavy your tail is, how it pulls on your body when you swish it around, how warm your tail is, what does it feel like when your tail brushes up against walls or you accidentally smack it against your desk, etc. You can also focus on the texture of your tail, such as the alignment of your tail's scales, how smooth or bumpy the til's surface is, if it's cool to the touch or not, etc.

Once your tail feels really real, I recommend looking into visual imposition. That too will make your tail feel even more natural and better fit in your sense of reality.

Note: I'm hit-or-miss activity-wise on this account. I may not respond to PMs for awhile.

I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron.

My other headmates have their own account now, but it's outdated and I can't be bothered to update it

If I missed seeing your art, please PM/DM me!

Thank you! I'll try that! ^^

Are there any tips on how to “feel” your tail though??

To displace the feeling of having your tail touched, you would want to replicate the sense of being touched.

I recommend reading this guide Purlox made. Purlox teaches you how to recreate the sense of being touched. Once you can do that, you can apply it to your tail.
