Do tell.

Believe it or not, it was over... Vegans vs. omnivorous behavior. Looks like history repeats itself. Yup.

"DUDE! That's wrong! You don't do that! That's like giving a kid a knife and telling him that it's a neck massager!"

Shameless self promotion!

I was the cause of a major flame war several years back which had several hundred participants, me as the leader of one side, and the other was an anonymous dickbag. I refused to give out evidence, he did. Guess who was more credible?

The moral of the story, is that you can't just say something and expect someone else to believe it for no good reason. You GIVE THEM the reason! In an argument, you have to give out sources. You didn't. End of story.

You are free to supply some in lieu of those you didn't, though.

I appreciate the advise, but it's not about winning or losing. I started this thread to get a meaningful discussion going and learn something / help others. You're right, I may not as credible for lack of sources.

1) Even if I produced an air tight paper on this subject and presented it on this thread I would still receive negative feedback.

2) I really don't care if this thread makes me look like an ignorant jackass, I REALLY DON'T CARE. My mission is to receive/give knowledge. Not to be liked. If I gain knowledge form this site and everyone happens to think I'm a retard, it's still mission accomplished.

3) Trolls muddy the waters, that's what they get off on. And unfortunately this thread is swimming with those Basterds.

4) I don't have to be credible, prove anything, back up my claims or even make sense.

Where and when was it?

Reddit several years ago... Perhaps 2 or 3, not sure.

Why wouldn't you WANT to be credible though?

I don't have the time nor energy to match everyone's replies blow for blow. Also I don't have access to my laptop, so I have to post everything via iPhone, which is frustrating.

Your mission falls flat when you don't give a reason for anyone to listen to you, you know. It's not about people liking you, it's about people believing your claims you don't back up. There's not trolls here, only Intel being a fag like he always is, which is why everyone else ignores him. But the others? Legit. You're just using the typical response they don't like me or believe me = trolls!!!!1

Anyways yeah, 6/10, you're slipping.

The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)

Listen, oowarrior, you came here with a message, you delivered it.

Now you're wondering why everyone is being a dick to you about it. You may say you don't give a damn but you obviously do. Anyone who speaks about their passion which get's thrown back in their face would.

This is the internet. Everyone has indestructable masks they can hide behind, granting everyone supreme confidence to say just about anything they want. Usually this means people deliver an unfiltered worldview on the topic. There's no need to be polite when you can not post in that thread anymore to completely back out of the discussion, losing no face whatsoever.

With this in mind you cannot say you are honestly surprised when you present very weak and unsupported facts, and everyone else criticizes them.

You have mentioned a few times that even if you brought an airtight paper full of proven facts we would still reject it. This is an obvious case of your feelings getting in the way of what you were trying to accomplish earlier. You are now convinced that everyone here is out to sneer at you for being you.

If you did bring up an airtight paper, we would have no choice but to agree with you, simple as that. But what you have provided is not airtight. You haven't even provided anything.

So how can you expect to get any "meaningful discussion" about the topic with people wearing masks if you don't have anything meaningful to say, other than "I love being a vegan"?

I would agree that processed foods are not good for you, as well as things like soda (I've written a research paper on the subject back at uni, ranging from high fructose corn syrup to sugar). However, Ive never had any dietary problems with consuming meat, and recently I've started trying out the Paleo Diet as a fundamental change to my eating habits (another interesting article on the subject) and have found myself feeling much better. While it does cut out dairy and grains, there's a good amount of meat in there still.

I know there's an argument about saturated fats, but heck, coconut oil for instance has about 400% DV of saturated fat, compared to bacon's 40% DV, and you'll find people either telling you that coconut oil is incredible healthy or incredible toxic.

On the other hand, I've got an 80-year-old grandmother who looks like she's sixty; eats chicken every week, liver every other week, when she was a little girl her mother would get bread and sprinkle sugar and lard on it. She's still ticking and never had any problems. I got an uncle in his 90s who looks like he's in his 50s. Is it in the genes? Activity? I'm sure diet is included in there too, but that doesn't make it the only confound.

Regarding concentration, a fun fact: bananas can increase your focus, memory, and concentration in the short term due to the potassium increasing the conductivity of your neuron receptors. Though the sodium in meats can do a similar thing.

After the redesign (once I can move this database over to the new servers; I'm in contact with them regarding that), there will be a board for experiments to be conducted. If people are willing to conduct a proper experiment with this (dependent/independent, and all that), it would be really cool.

I know some studies can be biased, it's why I turn to journal articles. If there's one thing that they're good for, it's for stopping biased studies from getting in. Not enough temporal precedence? Do you have some construct validities that aren't stable? Is there not statistically significant results? You're going to not only get rejected from the anonymous peers reviewing the article, but the article publisher as well.

Searching through the journal articles, I've found some things.

One such academic paper is from the american journal of clinical nutrition. It seemed to be a pretty solid study (you can review the correlation coefficients in the paper) that deals with cognitive activity (which would involve concentration), however, bear in mind that this is not an experiment, but was observational; correlation does not equal causation.

Another was an experiment, and can be found in the Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology.

And then there's this (not directly related, but you can see the range of subjects that come up in a journal).

Anyway, if you don't have access to a journal database, google scholar can help you.
