Let's Discuss Video Games

Heard somewhere that a new Switch model with better battery life will be released sometime in the near future. How do you guys with Switch use it? Like, do you ever use it portable? 

 

Battery life is fine, works for off time playing Odyssey during work/school/whatever breaks for one day and being charged when you get home. Shouldn't ever be a problem gaming at home. We personally never take it out of its station, treat it as a console.

 

The Switch is quite a console. Not the most insane processing power ever, but the average Switch game runs just fine, and the lineup promises to be amazing since some big games have sold incredibly well. Breath of the Wild did wonders, as did Mario Odyssey, and soon Smash Ultimate will make the Switch a must-have for many people. That means, unlike with the WiiU, Nintendo won't be afraid of putting a lot of time and effort into its games.

 

Our general sentiment is "You don't have to buy one now, but you will probably buy one eventually, so don't hold out if you've got nothing better to do now."

just played about 45 matches of Smash Ultimate online with Reilyn, thanks to her and Lance buying us a year of Switch's Online service! SSBU is pretty fun! And it's still just getting started, they announced the first of 5 DLC characters will be Joker from Persona 5, so 4 more to goooo. I think they're going to keep getting random franchise's characters like that, but if they don't, I'd like to see Tetra! Or better, Ravio, and he's like Link but uses totally different B moves like the Ice Rod and Hammer, or... OH! Amaterasu from Okami would be perfect! She's not even in the game as far as I can tell, but I'm sure no one would be upset if she were added, it'd be super cool

Got a Switch with Smash and it's super awesome! Reily got nintendo online for us and I had a blast chatting and learning a bunch of characters with Reily. Thanks for being so awesomesauce!

Continuing a post from LOTPW about Smash Ultimate here. As for friend codes - we could.. but we really prefer not to play Online. The input delay is horrid and feels like a mental handicap, it's a literal relief to return to offline play afterwards, everything feels better and less stressful to do.

 

We just picked up Snake as we realized he fit all of our wants for a character - hard to play well, but able to control the battlefield if we do get good at him, and potentially very powerful if we need to play seriously. Most people we play against are a lot worse than us at our best, so characters that are low tier have been our main picks since Smash 4 like Zelda and Dedede. Dedede.. we stopped playing in Ultimate. He got some great buffs, but with no longer being literally the worst but instead actually competitively viable along with his new squinting on crouch to antagonize opponents even harder, he actually makes our friends mad when we use him as we used to. So you see our problem, lol. Still sticking to Isabelle (a little dry, but we can play simply and only pull out Side+B and then Down+B as it becomes necessary to play better), Toon Link (75% less projectiles than a competitive Link should be using, mostly melee, but still using them when necessary as mentioned), Jigglypuff to mess with people (we don't play her often, but she feels incredibly easy to play for us for some reason, perhaps all our time in the floaty Brawl), and still maining Zelda.

 

Had to drop Inkling, because as we suspected from day one, they're very overpowered (one of the best characters in the game for sure). The annoying part is that LITERALLY EVERYONE uses our purple skin we picked out for looking like Reisen. All dang tournament players, online players, and Inkling thumbnails on Youtube we've seen are using that skin. The others aren't even bad, but it is annoying to see so many people using specifically the character and skin we immediately became attached to but were forced to stop playing. People could at least use default more.. but no.

 

Palutena was iffy. We knew she was buffed heavily from when we ~mained her in Smash 4, and since we used her specifically because she was one of the worst characters in the game, we held off for a while in Ultimate. We picked her up recently and while she's useful for things like Spirits we can't play her against our friends. Her n-air chains and u-air catching/predicting on people falling become really annoying for our friends really quick, but it's just hard to play her and not do those a lot. So anyways - playing Snake now, he's perfect for us. We're also somewhat fans of the Metal Gear series. We know all the lore but haven't played through any of the games ourselves, only recently having watched our brother play through all of MGS4, the end of the MGSolid timeline. He wanted to play Snake in Smash, but he's just a bit too complicated, so we picked him up instead.

 

Oh, and of course, we still play a myriad of characters overall from time to time. Not literally all of them anymore (not since Brawl), but a good deal. There's only a few characters we can't play at least decently, mostly top-tiers we've stayed far away from.

Ikr, the online lag in smash is so bad. Great game of course, in offline mode. Too bad about inkling, maybe they'll nerf the character and you can use it again.

Inkling is OP because so many of their moves are just good moves. It'd be hard (and really uncalled for) to nerf all of/a lot of them. Anyways, I don't think Inkling needs to be nerfed (much if at all), we're just not going to use them because they're top tier. Sort of a rule of ours.

 

... Has made us drop ZSS (our Brawl main), Rosalina (our first Smash 4 main) and now Inkling (would've-been main in Ultimate), along with Bayonetta when she came out (weren't going to main her but play her at least), but a rule nonetheless. We want to be fun to play against above all else.

Woowww why didn't Tewi link this! When not recording (but Instant Replay thanks to Nvidia was on) Tewi happened to do like our #1 best play in all of K-Shoot, it was seriously crazy!

it was a little after a minute in, right after the screen flips, she didn't miss a note until after the hard stuff where she messed up 'cus she was thinking about how crazy what she just did was lol. That was friggin' nuts! Like one of those super Expert impossible guitar hero songs we never thought we'd be able to do

Beat Super Mario RPG yesterday. It took me five attempts to beat the extremely OP final Boss. And then I found out that once you beat him you can’t even

save the game!

 

 

Anyway, it was fun. I would recommend it. Someone needs to make a sequel.
