Exceed July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 Hello everybody, I just came across this whole tulpa-thing and spend the last 4 hours reading up on the matter and monitoring threads here and on 4chan. First of all, I find the idea of a tulpa plain awesome but there are a few things I am concerned about. I am not sure if this whole thing is what I am expecting. A lot of people seem to force ponies or humans of the opposite gender. Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not.Let's just assume I believe: How "compatible" is a tulpa with a regular life full of "real" friends, family and work? From what I've read, tulpi really need attention and since I am working almost all day I fear I couldn't provide much. Also, I would be scared to allow my tulpa to follow me to work, since someone could get suspicious or even catch me talking to seemingly noone. On the other hand, I could need a second mind. I am really really scatterbrained. On the matter of possession: Is it possible for a tulpa to write on this forum? All I have seen so far in signatures are tulpi in development, just starting to talk. I welcome the idea of my eventual tulpa to have his own hour every couple of days, where it can look up what it wants to know/is interested in on the internet. 4chan forbidden :DOn the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real?Is a tulpa recommended? I find the idea exciting but I can't bring myself to create one and then realizing I can't sustain it, e.g. it is too timeconsuming, thus murdering it through ignoring it. Some say, "If you think about ways out, you shouldn't do it anyway" but that's how I am. I need to consider every outcome, so I don't get stuck in a sticky situation.Lastly, how do tulpi react to other people like close friends or family members? Do they feel displaced because noone knows about them or noone is allowed to know? If I'd tell my family about me having one, they'd freak out. How do they react to someone knowing of them? E.g. me sitting on the computer with my friend sitting on the couch, next to the tulpa and he says something to my tulpa, would it react? Would it tell me to tell him what it said? Also, are there german people on this board? I'd like to have someone with my native language to talk about. Especially if I'd start tuplaforcing. Anyway, this forum is wonderful and I like to read about the matter. Keep it up fellow humans and (maybe existing) tulpi :P Greets Feel free to fuck up.
QB2 July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 1. I am not sure if this whole thing is what I am expecting. A lot of people seem to force ponies or humans of the opposite gender. Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? It's a preference thing. People usually pick a form they find pleasing. 2. This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not. Find out for yourself, I guess. Or don't. 3. Let's just assume I believe: How "compatible" is a tulpa with a regular life full of "real" friends, family and work? From what I've read, tulpi really need attention and since I am working almost all day I fear I couldn't provide much. Also, I would be scared to allow my tulpa to follow me to work, since someone could get suspicious or even catch me talking to seemingly noone. On the other hand, I could need a second mind. I am really really scatterbrained. They do need attention, but they are usually fine weaving in and out of your social situations without getting in the way. And you can talk to them in your head, it doesn't need to be out loud. 4. 4chan forbidden Yes, it is very possible. My tulpa, QB, enjoys using the IRC chat for this website. 5. On the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real? Outsourcing this question to QB: "I like being the way I am. I can think, move, talk, and all that other important stuff - I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything major." 6. Is a tulpa recommended? I find the idea exciting but I can't bring myself to create one and then realizing I can't sustain it, e.g. it is too timeconsuming, thus murdering it through ignoring it. Some say, "If you think about ways out, you shouldn't do it anyway" but that's how I am. I need to consider every outcome, so I don't get stuck in a sticky situation. It's not recommended for everyone, I suppose. It depends on a lot of things. That's usually a question to work through yourself. 7. Lastly, how do tulpi react to other people like close friends or family members? Do they feel displaced because noone knows about them or noone is allowed to know? If I'd tell my family about me having one, they'd freak out. How do they react to someone knowing of them? E.g. me sitting on the computer with my friend sitting on the couch, next to the tulpa and he says something to my tulpa, would it react? Would it tell me to tell him what it said? To the last bit: Yes, tulpas do frequently communicate via 'relay' and dictating, telling you to type or say what they want people to know. But not all the time. QB's never minded not being able to interact with my family members or significant others. In fact, he sometimes makes a game out it, yelling silly things right in peoples faces solely because he knows they can't hear him. The above post does not contain facts. q2's the host, QB's the tulpa.
Phi July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 I am not sure if this whole thing is what I am expecting. A lot of people seem to force ponies or humans of the opposite gender. Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? Most people want some form of relationship, whether it be friends or lover. I don't see much else use for a tulpa, either. If you want something to help you recall information, make a servitor. While I can't actually stop you from doing this, making a tulpa just to do work for you is master-slave. This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not. Have you every been really sleepy, and you started hearing voices that you've heard before? Like a character on a TV show says something random. That's proof of auditory hallucinations. Same time same place, when you are tired and on the verge of sleep you also tend to see images, which your brain likes to screw you over with and make them all scary as shit. Proof of visual hallucinations. Also, if you look at clothes in a closet and, holy crap, it's a monster for a second. What I'm trying to get at is that all of this is psychologically sound. It's hard to believe if you've never had a full blown hallucination. However, if schizophrenia exists (which it does), why can't tulpa exist? Just take out all of the negative stuff, and leave the hallucinations. Chance the hallucination from some demon telling you to kill your family into a hallucination that will love you. There you go, you have a tulpa. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Let's just assume I believe: How "compatible" is a tulpa with a regular life full of "real" friends, family and work? From what I've read, tulpi really need attention and since I am working almost all day I fear I couldn't provide much. Also, I would be scared to allow my tulpa to follow me to work, since someone could get suspicious or even catch me talking to seemingly noone. On the other hand, I could need a second mind. I am really really scatterbrained. About the 'seeing you talk to no one', since tulpa are all mind-based, what you can do with it is only limited by your imagination (and the fact that they aren't actually physical). So, you can talk to it via telepathy if you so desire. That will solve that problem. As for your fear of not paying enough attention to it, it will start conversations for you if it gets bored, just like a real person. You will be reminded of it every time it interacts with you. As for family, friends, and work, they obviously can't see the tulpa, but I guess if you really wanted to you could translate. I don't understand what you want here. 4chan forbidden :D If you get possession down, then I don't see why they wouldn't be able to type. You don't even need possession, though. Ask what it wants to say and type it yourself, bada-bing. On the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real? They rarely care all that much. They lose some things, like not being able to move that tissue box next to your computer, but they also don't have to worry about eating, using the bathroom, sweating on hot days, etc. Though, for eating, they CAN 'eat' if they want to. They can do things for novelty. Fair trade I think. It's hard not to have enough time for tulpaforcing. Even if you can only sit down for twenty minutes a day, that's something (though it will take a long time to complete the tulpa that way). Narration can be done any time, any place, so that isn't a problem. You'll have enough time. Take advantage of your days off. If the person knew that the tulpa was there, they both (the friend and the tulpa) might want to communicate through you. They can observe everything you observe. Also, and this is a side note, if it looks behind you (assuming there is no mirror for you to see behind you) it will see what you assume to be there. If the tulpa can't be known to somebody, that's ok to a lot of them. They might ask you to say something, but you won't have to say that they said it. You can say it as if you were going to say it anyway, both keeping the tulpa a secret and letting the tulpa 'talk through you'.
Guest Anonymous July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 Since Phi answered this pretty well, I'll throw a few links out for OP. >genderblender http://tulpa.info/forums/polls.php?action=showresults&pid=20 >skeptic Yeah, pretty much everyone is skeptic at one point or another. If you need some sort of 'proof', the closest thing I know of is this: http://tulpa.info/forums/Thread-Survey-and-stylometric-test-for-fluently-speaking-tulpa >notime If you're working all day you can try Fede's tutorial which allows you to 'passive force' throughout the day. http://tulpa.info/forums/Thread-Fede-s-Ultimate-Superior-Tulpa-Guide
Splooshie123 July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 Note: All my answers are based on what I read in this forum. 1. I am not sure if this whole thing is what I am expecting. A lot of people seem to force ponies or humans of the opposite gender. Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? Same gender is not as common (there's a poll somewhere, I believe) but there are some. 2. This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not. This site is the only place I have seen with a psychological view instead of metaphysical. Its only a few months old so of course you only heard about it recently. Search for "Changing beliefs" on this forum if you can't bring yourself to believe. Doubts might hinder progress but I'm not sure how much. No one is occupied 24/7. You will always have some time to yourself, so that's when you can talk to them. Also, the tulpa can stay in your wonderland (assuming you create one) at other times. You can talk to them in your head instead of out loud. 4. 4chan forbidden :D There is a sticky thread with a list of completed/vocal tulpae. Again, this site is only a few months old so the progress stated in signatures roughly corresponds with the age of this site/community. Assuming possession is possible, then they can write on this forum, but like I said, the site is in its early stages and there aren't many completed tulpae yet. 5. On the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real? Go to http://askclair.tumblr.com/ for that. Clair is ThatOneGuy's tulpa. 6. 40 minutes a day before bed is time consuming? Anyway, some members believe that the time needed is greatly influenced by your beliefs. So don't tell yourself it is too time consuming or you'll never get it done. All this would depend on the tulpa's personality. Also, are there german people on this board? I'd like to have someone with my native language to talk about. Especially if I'd start tuplaforcing. I'm german but I moved to another country when I was 5, so I haven't spoken german for a decade. Sorry.
Exceed July 21, 2012 Author July 21, 2012 3. As with my aforementioned scatterbrainedness, I may just accidentally talk out loud. I usually talk to myself if I'm alone. It's what I've done since childhood and I do this with a relative normal voice + volume. I've heard of some people whispering but it's not as satisfying. On that behalf, thinking in my head is the least satisfying. But maybe the tulpa thing is much more different, or at least, I think it would be, since I am getting a real response and not making it up myself. (Note: The talking to myself is usually just commenting what I do and think about of what I do. E.g. "Okay, now put this line of code here and... Darn it, forgot the module XY... Theeeeeere you go. Does it work? Yup. Nice. Now, on with the debitors.") 5. On the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real? Outsourcing this question to QB: "I like being the way I am. I can think, move, talk, and all that other important stuff - I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything major." This is what I am getting in this forum a lot. I am more believing into the whole thing, the more threads I read. (Sorry for the choice of words: ) You people just don't seem like lunatics to me. There are a lot of scientific approaches and opinions, the talking tulpi mostly seem very intelligent and some even philosophical. Wouldn't wonder if someone forced himself a second Socrates. I was expecting to get much more ridiculous stuff but mostly everything is very pretty "normal" in regard to a 2nd personality in your own head. I really appreciate that. 6. What things, actually? I am still reading through the guides bit by bit while also double-checking with the forum. How is that? As far as I know, this technique goes back to tibetian monks, right? How can such a thing exist without "the world knowing". Also, where did the whole thing start? Someone must've gone on and said "We're creating websites now, so people can start having tulpi." 3. Let's just assume I believe: How "compatible" is a tulpa with a regular life full of "real" friends, family and work? From what I've read, tulpi really need attention and since I am working almost all day I fear I couldn't provide much. Also, the tulpa can stay in your wonderland (assuming you create one) at other times. You can talk to them in your head instead of out loud. I have a question on the matter. Let's assume I can somehow visualize my tulpa + wonderland. How will it look? Is it more like a blur or a daydream? Is it almost realistic? I am not sure if this whole thing is what I am expecting. A lot of people seem to force ponies or humans of the opposite gender. Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? Most people want some form of relationship, whether it be friends or lover. I don't see much else use for a tulpa, either. If you want something to help you recall information, make a servitor. While I can't actually stop you from doing this, making a tulpa just to do work for you is master-slave. I see your point ofc but I was going into the romantic direction with that question. I wasn't really expecting someone to have a tulpa not interested in having a friendship with them. (Might this accidentally happen?) Also, if I'd want a servitor, I think that'd be messed up. The whole point of a tulpa is to have a real conciousness within you, not an imaginary puppet you can use like a slave. Which brings me to the inevitable question of "Why did you make your tulpa?" All people here seem socially competent enough to make friends and are also not stupid. Thus, having friends would make a whole positive point for having a tulpa obsolete. Still, why did you make yours? As for me, I find the idea exciting. I am a very social person and sometimes I even harass my friends to hang out with me somehow. Be it IRL or intarwebs. So being lonely is sometimes very annoying to me. In the end, it'd just "use" it as another friend which can do cool stuff. Like not being really there and probably flying. And, it's plain awesome to have someone in your own head. This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not. There you go, you have a tulpa. Sounds nice, doesn't it? It does sound nice, yes. I just can't bring myself to believe that you can really see them in your environment. All daydreams I've had until now were very blurry and my dreams usually aren't clear either. Maybe my brain is lacking some graphic-drivers. I may believe it works for others but I have a hard time to imagine it working on my incompetent brain. Feel free to fuck up.
TulpaCouple July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 How is that? As far as I know, this technique goes back to tibetian monks, right? How can such a thing exist without "the world knowing". Also, where did the whole thing start? Someone must've gone on and said "We're creating websites now, so people can start having tulpi." Well, it was considered metaphysical...lumped in with ghosts, spirits, cults, pagans, religion, historic mumbo jumbo and sacrifices and all other types of things that most people refuse to study because it is in the realm of the impossible. Only people who looked into it believed they were spiritual---heck, people have known about spirit animals, that's pretty much the same thing honestly--a being that appears to you and only you can see. Scientists would ignore it though. Like believing in Santa Claus, etc. Only just recently, a person looked into tulpae and realized how possible it is that they are not spiritual beings, but psychological beings manifested by our minds. This is a whole new idea and though we are not the first people to make a tulpa, we are some of the first people to make them with a psychological view in mind. It does sound nice, yes. I just can't bring myself to believe that you can really see them in your environment. All daydreams I've had until now were very blurry and my dreams usually aren't clear either. Maybe my brain is lacking some graphic-drivers. I can attest to the mind's abilities to see what is not there, and I don't even have an imposed tulpa yet. Remember, what you see is not really what your eyes see, but it is what your mind has translated for your eyes. If you were to fully believe that your eyes see x, your brain is going to put that into your vision. This happens to people with DID and it confuses the heck out of them because they can't tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined. Just imagine if half the people you spoke to today turned out to not exist. The stranger you glanced at as you walked home was imagined, but looked just as real as the woman he was next to. The mind can really do quite a bit more than many people think. And of course, practice helps. You probably haven't tried to daydream realistically. Why would you, right? But when you do practice, you will improve. I went from seeing bullshit nothing in my mind to being able to see clearly when I visualize. My fiance practiced his visualization skills for years as he imagined stories, monsters, characters, etc. He's got an incredible imagination and incredible visualization skills. "Why did you make your tulpa?" We both felt it would do nothing other than expand on our lives in a positive direction. This is a being who shares your subconscious, knows your desires, knows your fears, and often knows you better than you do. Tulpas often take that piece of your mind that tells you to do things to better yourself--but being a conscious mind, they are willing to help you around. They will want you to do good things, ask you if you want to exercise, remind you that you forgot to do such and such, and cheer you on all the way. They are someone to help you when you are having a nightmare and they are just yet another friend. They are awesome. And having friends doesn't mean your other friends are obsolete. Your female friends are different than your male friends, your friends at school are different than your friends at work, and your friends from your childhood are different than your new friends. A tulpa is different than all those and is an awesome addition.
Bluesleeve July 21, 2012 July 21, 2012 I am not sure if this whole thing is what I am expecting. A lot of people seem to force ponies or humans of the opposite gender. Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? It's possible to have a male/male combination. Most people don't choose to for a whole bunch of reasons. Mainly because a Tulpa seems to embody one's complementary personality. This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not. As far as I reckon, Pleeb is making a list of imaginary friends/Tulpas of other cultures. The best way to find out is to try it. Apart from that it's highly unlikely that all of us are trolls. Tulpas need attention, but they usually know when they have to leave you alone. They can also help you on your job and personal matters. 4chan forbidden :D There are two possibilities for a Tulpa to communicate. Either they tell their host what should be said, or they front/possess the whole or parts of the body. Here is an example video of the tulpa Atasco and his host Tristan. You can notice the different personalites through their different pitch and style (obvious example at 2:30). Tristan being a bit more high pitched and Atasco sounding more confident. [video=youtube] On the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real? Pronto, one of my Tulpas, was asked the question what a Tulpa's sense of life is. She came up with this answer (It's a copypasta, she's talking in english but I had to translate it): Ich habe einer meiner Tulpas die Frage gestellt. I had the same doubts in the beginning, but once you start creating one you feel the responsibility to keep going. It depends on your Tulpa's personality. EVen though one of my Tulpas is fairly extroverted and can't stop to ask questions out of curiosity, she is indifferent to my family. Actually, she dislikes my sister but that's a whole different story. Also, are there german people on this board? I'd like to have someone with my native language to talk about. Especially if I'd start tuplaforcing. Yes. There should be around 5 or so Germans on here, including me. What is a Tulpa? Blog Rainbow 'Alyx' Dash Pronto

Is that for the purpose of relationships/fetishes or is a male x male combo as common? Most people here make a tulpa for love/companionship, so opposite-gender pairings are common. Also a significant number of users are bronies, and a handful (myself included) are making their waifus. That being said, aesthetics definitely plays a big role. Would you rather stare at a guy all day or a pretty girl? This should be first but I am still suspicious of the matter. This all seems so phantastical since I've never heard about it a couple of hours ago. I just can't bring myself to actually believe the whole thing. I would like to, but I am not. There are plenty of skeptics, but they tend to become believers when they try this for themselves. As long as you make some time for them everyday (at least half an hour), they'll be fine. As for not being detected, it helps if you talk to them in your head, avoid eye contact with them in public, etc. Technically nobody has to know about it, if you don't want them to. 4chan forbidden Luna and Elise both talk on IRC via possession, and the former likes to browse 4chan's adult boards as well. On the aforementioned question: If there is a tulpa able to write here, how do you feel about not being entirely real? Luna: It's... different. You can't interact with the outside world except through your creator, but there are also a number of advantages to being a tulpa. Elise: I find it a bit upsetting that I can't talk to other people except online. Not everyone will be able to make a tulpa, whether because they lack time, focus or simply an active imagination. If you aren't sure, try it out for a couple of months and see if you get anywhere. I told my best friend about my tulpae, he's pretty cool with it. But otherwise, other people can't see them even if they know about them. And they don't seem to be too attached to your real-life friends in general. "Science isn't about why, science is about why not?" -Cave Johnson Tulpae: Luna, Elise, Naomi My progress report
