Luminesce March 29, 2020 Author Share March 29, 2020 (edited) Wow, I gave light updates everywhere but this thread itself huh? Whoops. Check our PR I guess, just focusing on fixing motivation stuff before lucid dreaming because Tewi identified our inability to do things for 2+ weeks straight as our biggest roadblock. Okay, anyways, came here because I felt like it was worth noting last night. No permanent progress or anything (as if there ever was) and I'm not necessarily going back to focusing on dreaming yet, but y'know. Last night I was talking to Tewi right before bed about why we can't keep up practicing dream recall, what goes wrong and what else in our life goes right etc. Not what I wanted to post though, just relevant context. That night I actually remembered let's just say all of the dreams I had, throughout the night, it was pretty great. But the "first" dream (of any substance), I forgot. When I got up I easily remembered the one I'd just had, but the previous two took some effort. And then.. the last one I just couldn't remember for the life of me. I remembered just the tiniest detail - I had met/been with a ""celebrity"" if you can call people popular on the internet that. I've had plenty of dreams like that, most often it's the Game Grumps, but it didn't feel like them. I sat in my bed for like 5 straight minutes trying to remember any details at all and just could not. So I did the only thing I could, and started going through my list of people I'd consider "celebrities" that would've given me that feeling lol. Note I had remembered the dream after waking up from it early in the night, and only forgotten as the night went on. And after going through like 20 people, one of them just happened to be it as I thought them lol, Vinesauce Joel. Apparently I had a dream where I was with someone like "his uncle/dad" except it was just a slightly older Joel, and "his brother" that again was just a less interesting Joel, and I think we were looking for Joel himself lol. I don't know if he has an uncle or a brother but I can almost guarantee if he does they aren't just different versions of himself. Anyways, the instant I thought "Joel" I knew that was right and the context of the dream all came back to me on the spot lol. We rarely if ever remember the starts or details of dreams, when we say we remember them we mean roughly one or two "scenes" and the general context/progression of the dream. That can improve with good dream recall or particularly vivid dreams, though. And I really hope it does, every time I have a night of remembering dreams like so I feel bad for missing out on so many interesting experiences every night - my main goal is to lucid dream to be with my tulpas in person, but I'm honestly wholly interested in the entire subject of dreaming and would likely be pursuing this even if I had no tulpas. My dreams feel really valuable and that's just another reason to feel bad for failing in this endeavor tacked on to the rest. But anyways, that's not even my focus right now. We're targeting our motivation issues, and every single aspect of our life that's affected by them, so this is just one of many. It feels good to be working on the roots of the problems though, instead of chasing lucid dreaming or dream recall fruitlessly over and over. Oh, also, RIP all of the reply titles in this thread that we'd been so consistent with all these years. After the forum migration, they're all completely gone. For reference, each of my tulpas would use a different "title" in their on-topic replies in this thread, while I used the default one but at least removed the Re: at the start. Luminesce May 27, 2020 Author Share May 27, 2020 Been vaguely attempting to remember my dreams for about a week now. The first few days, despite waking up out of dreams and knowing I had just been having one, I was hit with a total brick wall entirely unable to remember even the tiniest of details, all I had was the memory/knowledge that I had absolutely been dreaming just moments before, but nothing else. One of the times I sat there in bed trying to remember the dream for like half an hour straight to no avail, lol. Decided to test if the simple act of trying to remember your dreams really does increase dream recall, or if that's simply a good habit because even slight recall success helps. The next day I remembered a few vague bits of my last dream, but I think it was due to dreaming being more on my brain prior to that night and morning, mostly. Certainly didn't get the full benefit of half an hour of attempted dream recall, lol. Dreams slowly got more memorable until this morning (the end of a week or so of attempts) I was able to slowly remember my entire last dream more or less, like five different parts to it, by backtracking through what I remembered. I didn't do anything special - simply attempting to remember your dreams each morning (and possibly, reaffirming you intend to remember your dreams when you wake up while going to sleep) should make dreams easier to remember as time goes on. The problem, of course, is that my motivation issues keep that from ever becoming consistent. Haven't done anything new, I've done this same week a hundred times before. I had the idea to try and speed up/further improve dream recall by re-remembering dreams I recalled again later in the day (since we tend to forget them even if we remembered once), which sounds promising, but.. well, I just haven't done it. My motivation issues aren't really getting better, although I might be understanding them better at least. This wasn't a post to note success or plans for solutions or anything, just don't like going so long without posting because it makes it feel like I've given up. I haven't and never will, I'm just trying to figure out how to get off this hamster wheel. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. Lucilyn July 28, 2020 Share July 28, 2020 4 minutes ago, Lucilyn said: tbh despite not updating our Dreaming thread we've been doing basically the same stuff as always, but now "lack of progress despite so much posting" guilt has been replaced with "it looks like we gave up because we're not posting" guilt last-last night after trying to remember a dream after only 5 hours of sleep, I was so woken-up by that thinking that I couldn't fall back asleep for 45 MINUTES!!! our current primary goal is improving dream recall, to increase dream vividness, to increase opportunities to realize we're dreaming to lucid dream AND just to enjoy our dreams more in general because we really do love dreaming but it's been hard to improve our dream recall, because despite it sounding perfect that we briefly wake up a bit between REM cycles, we DON'T fall back asleep easily if we do ANYTHING other than nothing (we can actually get up and go to the bathroom and fall back asleep pretty quick, but anything mental like focusing on recalling dreams for more than 5 seconds ruins it, I think including if we think while up to go to the bathroom lol) so I was thinking about ways to still improve our dream recall because it's GOTTA be possible, and just trying to remember all our dreams after we're awake-awake for the day has not been making any real progress, and I came up with an idea where we would create quick titles/reminders for the dreams we just had throughout the night and tell them to one of our system members and then immediately go back to sleep I actually tried that last night! and while I only got two (said one to lumi and one to flan), I at least didn't totally forget them when I woke up which is an improvement lol. Buuut... first, I pretty much still had to do the recalling even of the titles, when I asked Lumi what the first one was he said "I was supposed to remember that?" lol, but I did remember both of them and at least the immediate last scenes of each of the dreams, but I couldn't remember any further back in them ... second I actually forgot my very last dream after waking up because I was focusing on remembering the earlier two xD still, this is literally the only solution I could think of that didn't entail just completely screwing up our ability to sleep all night, so we're gonna keep doing it for a while and hopefully iron out the kinks/make it better, and maybe if it becomes a habit we'll even be able to put more effort into it while still falling back asleep! (vague mention of our consideration of "not doing things for long enough when they don't work" since it's possibly been a huge roadblock for us up until now, we're gonna make sure to try future things for longer periods of time instead of trailing off) Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! Lucilyn July 30, 2020 Share July 30, 2020 (edited) Last night's dream recall was worse than it was two days ago 😕 soooo, what's it been, almost twice my lifespan that Lumi's been working on lucid dreaming? it's about time to "give up"... the rest of our pride, right? I guess we already did that once when we spent like $200 on the REM-Dreamer, which didn't work out mainly because we're unable to fall asleep while the timer is set (and in its automatic/all night REM-detecting mode it gets WAY too many false signals and is just annoying) ((and we were going to try wearing it every night to get more used to having it on but the strap got loose after not even that many attempts and we don't want to ruin it so we didn't do that)) - ANYWAYS, we already gave up a lot of our pride back then lol by basically saying "nothing we've done has worked so far, guess we need outside help" but then we went back to trying on our own for two more years(?) again, and nooooow as we've boiled our problems down to their barest elements and still can't solve them we figure it's time to try using vivid dreaming supplements. Oh also!! We got a fortune cookie today that said something like a money investment we make would pay off better than we could imagine, and there's LITERALLY NOTHING we can afford right now (can't even really afford the Claridream pills we already bought lol) and not a single thing we've been considering buying other than that, SO you know what that means? It means we're going to find out once and for all if fortune cookie fortunes are actually real!!! if these pills (oh I guess I could link them, scroll down for ingredients etc.) work magic then huzzah, fortune cookie fortunes are real and no more doubt or critical thought about them is necessary! but if the pills DON'T work somehow (and honestly they just should, or we'll just be convinced we're in a simulation testing to see how we'd react to NEVER GETTING THE ONE THING WE WANT) then we'll know once and for all fortune cookie fortunes are pure BS but realistically lol it's basically impossible the supplements won't do exactly what they're supposed to, and what they've always done for literally everyone else. only possible problems I see are 1) expired or something? but we can just buy different supplements that do the same thing, or 2) some kinda allergic reaction, though a review said it's very rare to be allergic to any of their ingredients so basically lucid/vivid dreaming supplements make dreams more vivid by, well, making them more vivid, and also activating the logic-y parts of your brain so it's easier to become lucid in dreams too, which is exactly what we've experienced vivid dreams as in the past. and while they more or less all have the same goal/usefulness, Claridream was made as far as we know by a popular lucid dreaming site combining a few well known but still harmless lucid dreaming supplements into a single pill, so it's got by far the highest chances of actually working compared to any other "harmless" supplement we are not willing to try any ~drugs or ""herbs"" or suspicious, more potent stuff - if these pills aren't enough (... we'd try similar ones to make sure they weren't just expired or something), we'll just accept that we can't be helped by substances within the realm of what we're willing to try and go back to other things also, we were hoping to buy like 3-8 uses of a supplement but Claridream only officially comes in 60 pills (serving size 2, so 30 uses at full dose), so I guess we're getting a heck-load of 'em, but we're still extremely averse to becoming reliant on any external factors (especially chemical ones), and are only open to using supplements/the REM-Dreamer or similar devices because we believe once they get us started we should be able to keep making more progress on our own oh so anyways, I don't know how often we'll take them but probably not terribly often, unless they've got a really quick expiration date which I doubt, we still don't want to be entirely reliant on them even if they're amazing, they're just supposed to give us a boost that we APPARENTLY need okay well that's it, now we've just gotta wait however long for them to actually get here, then Lumi will write another post about the supplements before actually using them that night probably oh also pretty funny, when I was buying them earlier I had a song pop into my head because it was such a mood given the feeling like we're "giving up" by doing this lol, and then I went to go listen to it and realized what it's CALLED LOL Spoiler Edited July 30, 2020 by Lucilyn Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! Luminesce August 4, 2020 Author Share August 4, 2020 (edited) The pills got here early, so tonight's the night. Two (giant) purple pills some time preferably around 5-7 hours into sleeping, and then I just have to manage to fall back asleep. Let's not hype it up too much or I really won't be able to, yeah? To sum up: I ordered 30 servings (60 pills) of Claridream Pro (because that was the only size they had), a product made of a handful of commonly used (on the harmless side of) herbs that helped people in the lucid dreaming community in some way. They just bundled a literal handful of them together, one of the ingredients literally being chamomile lol. Its general purpose is to increase the clarity (vividness) of dreams, and it claims to do some other things too, but they may just be direct effects of increasing dream vividness. Vivid dreams are much easier to recall in detail, for example. And they say it exactly how it is, that while it can definitely help you become lucid, it doesn't specifically make you lucid. As you'd know if you follow our thread here, vividness of dreams is basically the number one key to having lucid dreams unless you're using a direct conscious-to-dreaming-state induction method, none of which work for us. Unrelated, I've spent a good chunk of the day today reading official Touhou works ("Artbooks" are 95% text and great stories you can read on the wiki, "Comics" are mangas), something I've been meaning to do/catch up on for uhhhhsixyears? Just kidding, it was related. I'm hoping to inspire some Touhou-related dreams over the next couple weeks(?), so I'll be spending a lot of time catching up on 10+ years' worth of Touhou media lol. The goal for our first/next lucid dream has not changed - unless things go astoundingly well, the goal is to retain lucidity for as long as possible, and to explore what it's like to be in a lucid dream if it seems stable. Unless the dream is particularly stable and long, I don't plan to try and see my tulpas in the first one. But unless the first one is extremely unstable, I absolutely intend to attempt to meet/hug my tulpas in the second lol. And I'm fully prepared for the next roadblock to be mastering dream control/manipulation to the point where I can even cause my tulpas to appear, because the little experience I have being lucid tells me the more vivid a dream is, the harder it's been to do unexpected, fantastical things. I'd really love nothing more than to move on to "struggling" to master the dream control aspect of lucid dreams though, as if I wouldn't thoroughly enjoy and appreciate every minute of it. So anyways, here's to hopefully a new chapter in our lives, because I'm sure as heck done with this one. Just the song I was putting on because it's relevant to what I'm reading right now lol (an interview of Youmu, whose stage theme this is), but hey it'll fit here too. Luminesce August 4, 2020 Author Share August 4, 2020 (edited) Okay, it's been 5 hours since I went to sleep, ha-ha.(okay I forgot to post this for an hour, got distracted lol) Last couple nights I fell asleep around 2AM, this time around 4AM. Then I was awake for like 45 minutes after one sleep cycle, then practically an hour after two, so that's a pretty clear sign I'm not sleeping that night. On the bright side I'm now up 5 hours earlier than I'd been getting up the last few nights... I meant to fix my schedule today (the day the pills were supposed to arrive) anyways lol. Didn't take any yet, will tonight unless this somehow manages to happen again (but I went to bed after only 13 hours of being awake last night, which probably is 1/3 of what caused it, the other 2/3 mild anticipation). Also, the new sleeping mask I got is so tight it hurts my ears a bit, but maybe I can loosen it (though the goal was to go to sleep early enough I didn't even need it) Apparently people on Dreamviews (and that means about 3 of them) don't think Claridream has done much to help them become lucid, but then, I wonder what they were expecting. My dreams are as not-vivid as they get most the time. But basically every time I've had a very vivid dream, I've become lucid, most likely from my own skill/training. If all these things do is make my dreams "kinda vivid" it'll still be a massive benefit for us. There's always our general resistance to drugs at play, though. It's still very possible they won't do anything special at all, but I still feel like at worst they'll make my (currently next to nothing) dream recall/clarity at least a C instead of a D. Actually, I'm reminded of how, for some people, melatonin acts as a sleep inducer that actually makes them tired. It helps my brother fall asleep even, while for me it does literally nothing, to my tiredness or to my dreams. Chances are the ingredients in Claridream work the same way, though Claridream has quite a bit more going on than melatonin (and to my understanding, melatonin is less for making you tired, and more for adjusting your sleeping schedule) Edited August 4, 2020 by Luminesce Hi! Ido August 4, 2020 Share August 4, 2020 Oh yeah, the REM Dreamer, that brings back memories. Hope the pills work out better. Guest August 4, 2020 Share August 4, 2020 I feel like we have lucid dreams about once a week or more? Do you want me to take some blood so you can transfuse Bear DNA? Side effects may include perfect visualization, euphoria, and ofc addiction to Bear(R) blood. Also, your dreams will likely be R18 or even worse.
