For the vast majority of systems we spoke to about co-fronting (and I mean more than a dozen) they do not have any issue with confusion. A few do, we don't. We don't even have "the problem of twelve". We routinely have 4 or 5 including Bear and because of co-fronting, like now, Bear isn't always in front, but it's very fluid and free.

 

[bear] I don't go dormant unless the fronter wants me to. Dashie and Ashley can keep me active even when not co-fronting.
