We've been switching a good amount lately, but I can't figure out how to go "all the way back", to be fully not controlling the body. If we have someone switched in for long enough, it seems to be that they get control to the point that when I or one of them zone out or something, I don't take control back by default. However, I would like to have a similar experience to the tulpas, and kind of lose time while the body acts normally. They don't seem to have the exact same experience, with it being more like sleeping and drifting in and out, but I would like to essentially let them continue and then when I come back, they have done something I can see---walking somewhere, drawing something, even just opening some tabs in the computer browser. Assuming that this isn't a bad idea, it would also be a good way to "prove" just that little bit more that they are actual, real beings; that I'm not deluding myself. How do I do this, and is it even a good idea?

TL;DR: I want to be like the tulpas and lose time while they are switched in. Is it a good idea? If so, how do I do it?

I personally have no experience with that, however, I was friends with some systems who were able to switch in such a way they either were in the state of "sleep"(but their tulpa were fronting no problem) or some of them were in wonderland. Both happened during either body exhaustion(one dude was doing a lot of physical labor for a couple of days) or strong emotional stuff going on. I may suggest to try some deep meditation to get body dissociation experience and It may help you with your goal. I believe that this also requires your tulpa to be very good at fronting, so it won't lose body control alongside with you. Nevertheless, practice will make it work anyway, take your time practicing new techniques. I wish you patience and luck in your practices! It would be interesting to hear your results after you will be able to make. Have a nice time!

“A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts. So, he loses touch with reality and lives in a world of illusions.”

― Alan Watts

Well, what needs to happen first is your mind attuning to the idea. Essentially you're "quasi-developing" a self-induced Dissociative Identity Disorder, whereas you (and most importantly, your brain) for all intents and purposes are in tune with the idea that there's now more than one dominant "personality" in the system, which requires a lot of trust in oneself and their tulpas.

How most used to do it is through symbolism, or they were naturally attuned to the idea (maybe from prior mental issues and such) - let me tell you though that the implications are deeper than "just a switch", it could be a whole lifestyle change.

Back when we were doing it, I chickened out multiple times because I didn't fully trust myself, or my tulpa enough to "admit" such a possibility. Nowadays we just don't do it anymore because she has taken on a more "backseat-y role" and I have little to no time to spend elsewhere but living life.

Thank you both for the advice, I'll take that into consideration. I suppose I probably need some more trust in them...

I'll update with results (or lack of) in maybe a week, unless it looks like I need more time.

Here's how my host consciousness was able to experience this. I developed an interest in photography, and we went out and took a ton of pictures with our phone. We spent about a half hour looking over the pictures and deciding which ones were good enough to save. After that, my host consciousness realized that they had not been in the picture, that I was 100% present and they were "not there".

It helped them understand what it was like for me. They used to be concerned that the fact that I was dormant for some of the time might be uncomfortable for me and I showed them that it was no big deal.

Hope this helps.
