Hello tulpamancers,

I’ve had a tulpa for a while now but previously mistaked him for a “twin flame”.

I’ve just recently became aware of tulpae and now believe that to be his identity.

Last night I was drawing him and my son asked, “is that a demon?” I was shocked because my tulpa is in form of a human, no deformities or “scary” features... is my son picking up on something? Is my tulpa really something sinister?

(Not humble bragging here, just for informational reasons I’m adding that I am a very accomplished illustrator, so it wasn’t that the picture sucked lol).

Also, can tulpa visit in dreams? Because mine does.

Thanks for any input!

He was probably just being playful.

I hope so, I didn’t tell my son who it was or say anything- I was just sketching. I didn’t even know my son really know about “demons” :/

Quick tip, the most common plural spelling is "tulpas", and "tulpae" has fallen out of fashion. I know, it's confusing.

If your son picked up on something, it was probably your own body language and the way you treated the drawing. Or, if the image is slightly magical or mystical, that could be seen as something spiritual, like a demon. I doubt your tulpa is something sinister.

Tulpas can certainly visit in dreams, just like you yourself can be in your dreams. Tulpas are just like another identity in your brain, another identity much like yourself. If you've been thinking about him or interacting a lot in the day, that makes it even more likely he'll be in your dreams.

Is your tulpa vocal and sentient? If he is, you should talk and make it clear that he's not a demon or anything, he's a cool dude that you share a head with. Children who are told they're the "problem child" can latch on to that and it'll further become their identities, and tulpas that are told or feel they're something evil can do the same. I wouldn't encourage any sort of thinking that a tulpa is a demon, or a god, or anything other than human. Maybe they look like a pony, or an angel, or smoke, and maybe they act like your guardian angel, but tulpas are located and operate in our very human brains.

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or concerns.

Our Thread

Thank you for taking the time to read my questions.

Hearing your explanation about my son’s comment definitely puts me at ease, thanks for that.

My tulpa does not have any evil, intrusive or manipulative traits. He’s gentle, a bit timid and protective so I was like, “huh?!? Demon?!?”

He’s a sweetheart and I will be sure to confirm and validate him as such.

We speak audibly in dreams. When I talk to him while awake he mostly “sends me letters”. This might sound weird or it might be common, I don’t know, but script will pass my mind’s eye and I am able to read it. If it’s lengthy the script is narrated with his voice.

Remember, this is new to me. I thought he was a twin flame for the last 10 years lol. I’ll be sure to nurture him as a tulpa in hopes to develop him properly.

It sounds normal because virtually anything can happen in dreams. What's a twin flame?

If I'm not mistaken, a Twin Flame is another term for what is commonly considered one's soulmate.

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

I was taught that a twin flame is your true “mirror”, perfect match or reincarnated soulmate that comes to you in the form of an energy or person... That was a really vague explanation.

It's a pretty interesting concept. I suppose that you favor the metaphysical interpretation of Tulpas over the psychological one? As for myself, I'm quite undecided.

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

It's hard to truly know what's going on, but this just exemplifies the complexity of our minds, that we can't know how it works; is it a conduit or a creator, or a little of both?
