So a lock merge is essentialy if a tulpa were to have a tulpa but instead of there being a host there would be both of them coexisting in the same mind, am i correct?

No, in the Lock Merge configuration, we're all the same person. There's no need to coexist because there's only one existing. We're not sharing or superimposed, we're the same person.

In a traditional merge, a new independent person is created from separate individuals. These individuals do not experience the merge as being them, but rather an independent person separate from themselves. They can't coexist with their merge either, either they merge is active, or they are.

Contrast that to a Lock Merge, where the individuals who join it each see the merge as them playing the part of someone else like an actor would. Or in another, more accurate way, the merge and other constituents are an aspect of their own personality where a personality is made up of aspects which contain facets which have traits.

An aspect can be a character or just a situational way of expressing your personality. It can seem to be an entirely different personality because it has a unique perspective. If you saw two aspects of the same person, you would recognize them to be part of the sane person. This is what the constituents are experiencing in a Lock Merge, but others Viewing them won't recognize them as the same person.

A facet is a situational expression of an aspect, say when you're talking with your friends vs your parents. The differences are more subtle.

A trait is something like the way someone talks, their likes and dislikes, their opinions and feelings on matters.

What you describe is more of a subsystem cofronting or blending with each other which isn't a Lock Merge.

That's a possibility for the hub, assuming you create a hub.

Lol, i was just asking out of curiosity, im gonna stick with making one tulpa

Interesting, I could see uses for this method and wouldn't mind testing it out, but I also don't think it's something we could get fully into as that kind of identity shift would probably be a bit disorienting.

From how I read it, a lock shift merge essentially has all of the tulpas become one entity, and then their own identities are used like masks by the entity. So everyone in the entity experiences life as that mask up until the mask swaps to another or they leave the entity entirely and return to being a separate tulpa like usual. Is this metaphor accurate?

Rather than masks, say facets or personas where personas are just a group of facets. Where we all have countless facets already based on scenario and situation.

They kind of switch masks like actresses play different parts, at least Joy would fully agree with that analog.

They would say, they are themselves at all times. As if two or more people could play the same part at the same time.

It helps that we understand that thoughts are linear and you can choose what thoughts you identify with or not. So when one of them is "thinking" the thought, they all identify with it if they're together.

I get it, interesting. I definitely see the use of this technique for those secure in their identities and wanting a way to gain awake time without the normal problems of large systems. Thanks for sharing this.

@Bear If/when you visualize your systemmates, how do you visualize the lock merge?

This was Betty's account. Now we'll all use it.

@harvestmoon It wouldn't necessarily be any different than anyone else, but Aleshe has kind of a crazy like multidimensional look sometimes because she contains everyone. So yeah it's arbitrary.

@Bear I see. I was imagining that it would be possible for the parties of a lock merge to each be present as separate visualized bodies while simultaneously merged. Like if they can all be shaved off the merge without affecting the merge then why not, other than it maybe being unintuitive?

If A and B are currently merged but concurrently have separate visualized bodies, could they experience as one but express themselves as two? And could they speak for themselves as well as each other interchangeably? Like they were one experiencer with two separate bodies/personalities?
