Gambarimasu November 8, 2012 November 8, 2012 This stuff could help me with my own progress, i'd appreaciate if you could put more info about this shadow. If the wikipedia article is to be trusted, then it's my understanding that the Shadow is a collection of facets of your personality that you are not consciously aware of. From this, it seems that a person who was completely and totally honest with themselves, their beliefs, their life, and everything else about themselves would have no Shadow whatsoever. Likewise, a person who often lied to themselves and did not care to find out much about their personality would have a very powerful Shadow. This is a bit difficult to think about, and is purely speculation, but (besides sounding dangerous and like a bad idea) I don't think merging with your Shadow would even be possible. If it even WERE possible to merge your conscious personality with everything that you didn't know about yourself, then it seems that you would become a completely different person. Now this could be good or bad, depending on what traits and personality your Shadow has, I suppose. Really though, "merging with your Shadow" could be done much more safely and effectively, in my opinion, by sitting down and asking yourself some questions about your life and finding out if you're being truthful with who you think you are and who you see yourself as. Consciously knowing about yourself, it seems, would reduce the presence that your Shadow will have in your subconscious. That would explain many things, like why i feel like this shadow for me is really weak as an "entity" and why i don't feel sentience from it, it also would explain a lot of what Ciel does(the tulpa i said is based on this feeling) I'm really interested now, i really want to know more about this stuff.
hakase November 8, 2012 November 8, 2012 Uh. I guess that's why i've met no shadow. All things considered, a shadow tupper doesn't sound too good either. Yea, honestly I'd like to say that I wouldn't have one either since I consider myself fairly truthful when it comes to me, but I guess I really won't ever know for sure since even if I don't see one in my wonderland for a while, it could still be hiding somewhere. I also think it might actually be a good idea to talk with said shadow a little if you'd like to know yourself or some shit Oh I know for sure if I ever saw my Shadow and saw no immediate threat, I would definitely try to talk with it at least a little. That would actually be very interesting. This stuff could help me with my own progress, i'd appreaciate if you could put more info about this shadow. [snip] I'm really interested now, i really want to know more about this stuff. I would definitely start with reading the wikipedia article and digging through some of the citation sources at the bottom then. I'm sure there's a lot more information than what is in the article. I have no further advice or reading to offer you though. "Give a man a Truth, and he will think for a day. Teach a man to Reason, and he will think for a lifetime." -Phil Plait

Guest Anonymous November 8, 2012 November 8, 2012 I wonder where shadows come from, their growth time and if tuplas have shaqdoes.
Purlox November 8, 2012 November 8, 2012 One day (quite early on) I felt a slight twinge of fear, and entered my (first) wonderland only to find a humanoid being composed of a murky, shadowy, black mist with glowing white eyes. I was able to fend him off by throwing shuriken made of light at him, and I thought my problem was solved. If you feared, then it's possible that you interpreted something harmless (a literal shadow, some "glitch" in mindscape or your bad visualisation) as something more evil and harmful, which is why this happened imo. Quite a while later, possibly months, I constructed an area of my newest wonderland into doorways to represent my and each of my tulpa’s subconsciousses. Upon the entry of my room by myself and my oldest tulpa, we were assaulted by the same being. Only after leaving the area and calming down from the initial fright caused by this incident did it leave us alone. It's possible that because you thought it was evil being before, you made yourself think that it could have survived somewhere and so you found it after few weeks/months. ---Rest of the post--- Tons of assumptions based on very few (at least from what I can tell) information, that will make people assume these things exist and behave in this manner, which will cause most people to confirm them because of believe systems and this will make it seem like it's true. Next time, please, wait for more people's experience to compare yours to, to see what is and isn't part of the "shadow" and if you aren't just assigning meaning to stuff that doesn't have such meaning.

You make a very good point. Schlondark, had you read very much on Jungian theory before this? That may have sparked your encounter, as well as any other encounters with Jungian-archetypal beings. schlondark November 8, 2012 Author November 8, 2012 If you feared, then it's possible that you interpreted something harmless (a literal shadow, some "glitch" in mindscape or your bad visualisation) as something more evil and harmful, which is why this happened imo. The fear was likely not mine, but my tulpa's as it was present at the time. Tons of assumptions based on very few (at least from what I can tell) information, that will make people assume these things exist and behave in this manner, which will cause most people to confirm them because of believe systems and this will make it seem like it's true. All experiences I've seen seem remarkably similar, both in behavior and appearance of it. I can't really argue with this, but it seems like something that people should be warned about. Next time, please, wait for more people's experience to compare yours to, to see what is and isn't part of the "shadow" and if you aren't just assigning meaning to stuff that doesn't have such meaning. All told, I've spoken to about 10 people with similar experiences. This was also more intended to be a 'What the heck did I just see; Has anyone else seen anything like this?' to be read after the fact, rather than before. Though I admit that some of my base assumptions may be inaccurate, I feel that this topic bares further investigation, and have provided my thoughts on the matter.
Gray November 8, 2012 November 8, 2012 I have something somewhat similar in my wonderland, only it is not a creature, but a place. It's a dark forest that has that aura of evil and malevolence about it, and the one creature that I know lives there has lunged at me the first time we meet; however oddly enough after we got pass that attempt to rip my throat out and I payed some attention to it (mostly because I couldn't find my tulpa where I left it so I put two and two together and figured it must be related) I found it was quite friendly and cuddly creature. Next time you meet it you might want to try just paying some attention to it instead of fighting it.
glitchthe3rd November 9, 2012 November 9, 2012 I've never encountered my shadow in my mindscapes or whilst forcing, but it has appeared during lucid dreams. It has a tendency to appear when I look into mirrors, one dream I recall having involved me looking into a mirror and seeing a reflection of some eldritch horror that let out a soul-piercing scream (usually when I look into a mirror I see whatever I want to see at the time, which more often than not is my reflection). Other times it manifests as a group of shadow beings that stalks me and undoes any changes I make to the dream. Also, I'm not sure as to how valid this is, but after I got my wisdom teeth out Luna got kidnapped by some black guy in dark platemail that may or may not have been my shadow, and I had to go rescue her. Though I was doped up on painkillers at the time, so I'd imagine the boundary between dreams and wakefulness was blurred. At any rate, the shadow sticks to my dreams for the most part and doesn't interfere with my tulpae much.
