I just sat down an hour ago to do a force session. Before I started this session though, I looked blankly at the wall and let my eyes lose focus. I then let them remain un-focused without blinking. I started to feel these weird pulsations and my peripherals began to darken. Then my eyes closed involuntarily, I could practically feel my eyes roll up to the back of my head.

When they did, I found that my mind was already in a meditative state, I was seeing colors and these weird waves. I then tried to visualize my wonderland, which came into clarity with ease, I felt no strain at all trying to visualize it. I never experienced this before. Usually when I visualize I gotta put a lot of intent and focus on the thought. The visualizations came to me very quickly to, almost felt natural.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

Cast away all doubts. If you can't trust yourself, why bother at all?

I'll put this in my to-do list for until after I finish with my community welfare training service class.

GAME ON!

As for experiencing it myself, no. I think my previous statement shows my interest in trying it though.

The darkening in your periphery is a biological thing. The cells in your retinas get tired from constantly getting the same stimuli and gradually adjust to it, sending less and less signal to the brain. Normally you instinctively move your eyes around long before this happens, and when it begins to happen you get an impulse to move your eyes slightly. Doing so "refreshes" your vision.

I see. That explains the darkening and pulsations quite well, thank you.

While attempting this method several times yesterday night I realized that by focusing your attention on un-focusing the eyes you are essentially clearing your mind of thoughts. This could be what is causing such a quick response to visualizations, since clearing your mind is a step to reaching a meditative state of mind. I'll have to experiment with this some more, but so far, the results have lead to me having vivid visualizations without so much strain.

What your doing is limiting blood flow to you pupils. Yes, good for using your minds eye, not so good if you enjoy seeing things.

I'm pretty sure bloodflow isn't involved, and there's no lasting effect. You're merely letting your focal distance and convergence point drift to something other than where objects in the room are. You do all these muscle movements all the time, only there's usually an object at the point you focus and converge your eyes at.

This reminds me of the WILD lucid dreaming technique. Especially the hypnogogic imagery. I will try this.
