The discussion of progress reports and the future of them is interesting to say the least. I recognized early on that "progress" slows to a halt when you reach a certain level with your tulpa. But, what then? My progress report thread has become a discussion of tulpa related topics and how each topic relates to my experience.

You could call it a blog. Blogs aren't a bad thing, it is the subject that you discuss that counts for anything.

What I meant by "blogging" was posting stuff that would otherwise be posted on a personal blog. Things like what I ate today, where I went, etc. What your PR has become is great, simply because it deals exclusively with tulpas. We can argue semantics, but it all boils down to "talking about tulpas is good, talking about not tulpas is bad". Excepting, of course, Off Topic.

As for "lead by example", that made me chuckle. I try to be humble at most times, but I do think that I made a very good first post in my PR. It crashed horrible downhill from there, though. I mean it's been what, fifty-some-odd days now, and I still have zero progress?

I want to address roleplaying:

(Prepare for a small rant)

Roleplaying has taken it's toll on me, on everyone, I assume. My friends have been torn apart, and I've even suspected myself of it. I joined back in January, where there were maybe 2 roleplayers. How, how, in three fucking months, has it come to this savagery that we call roleplaying paranoia? We have torn each other to shreds over this. Why? Well because a lot of people are doing it! Why else would we assume the majority of people on this site are roleplayers? What I want to say is, please, for the love of God, Fuck off.

Roleplayers: If you don't have a tulpa, if you aren't interested in making one, please go away. We don't want you here, I don't care who you are. You. Turn. Everything. To. Absolute. Shit. Fuck off.

People who apply: Don't brag about your tulpa's "abilities" and whatnot. I'm sick of it, and I know I'm not the only one. No one gives 2 shreds (Ex. OMGZ IM SO FAR, IMPOSITION TOOK ME 5 MIN! LOLOLOL! YOU GUYS ARE LOSERZ!). You can fuck off too

Please give me an example of where roleplaying is bad for the community as a whole.

As for the OP, I will say that the circlejerking is worse than new members who can't into actually focusing on their tulpas. If I see someone with a question, I prefer to help them, rather than go and rant about "ZOMG NEW MEMBERS NEED TO READ THE GUIDES AMILEFTGUYS? DAE NOT HAVE SEX WITH THEIR TULPAS?".

Please give me an example of where roleplaying is bad for the community as a whole.

Im was simply upset when I wrote the post, and I really do not want to have a community full of people that roleplay just for the hell of it, or becaus they think it's some sort of joke. The website has "For Science!" on top of it, not "For the lulz."

We're all going to blow up and turn into a sun.

Something reguarding tulpa is either going to blow up, or collapse as a whole eventually. Eventually, tulpalamas will become more or less a "meme" that everyone knows about... I mean, c'mon. It's only a matter of time before some internet celeb guy comes along and wants to make a tulpa, and eventually EVERYONE WILL KNOW. After that, tulpalamas will either become something every internet person has (almost like the explosion of bronies with the discovery of MLP and it's becoming more or less a strong meme)... and it will either stay like that, or eventually become one of those "arrow to the knee" like memes that everyone forgets about within the first few months of it becoming a meme.

If I could chose one or the other to happen, personally, I prefer the latter for two reasons. One, because I feel speshul wit my super sexi poni tuppa, and two, because the mass of people will lead to more of the inpatientfags comming along and quitting within the first two weeks. We might gain a spike of credibility, but we'd also gain a spike of tulpalamas being thrown in the trash like garbage.

GARBAGE.

The shorter time frame we were a meme, should it happen, the better.

Roleplaying is a twofaced thing. It's good because it does supposedly help develop tulpalamas. It's also bad because, like you said, makes us look like it's for da lulz babyluv dig it. We're all already idiots, we don't need roleplaying to prove it.

Please give me an example of where roleplaying is bad for the community as a whole.

Are you fucking serious, Jimmy?

You've been on these forums all this time, and you don't even know how roleplaying can be bad for the community?

1. It often keeps our community from being taken seriously, as a whole. Even more so than if all of us were being serious.

2. When you have roleplayers saying that they have fully vocal tulpas in a couple of weeks, it leaves many serious members discouraged, because they're making such slow progress, in comparison.

3. When there are so many roleplayers, it can be hard to weed through them. It gets to the point where people who aren't roleplayers are being called out for being one, because they did or said something similar to what roleplayers have said in the past.

And I'm sure there are many other things.

Be creative. That, or just use your damn eyes.

You call yourself a member of this community. You call yourself an "oldfag" and a veteran, yet you clearly know less about this community than most people.

"If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."

I don't know babyluv, that's not completely true.

1.) We already act like idiots a noticable amount of the time.

2.) That's the newmember's fault for comparing themselves to other tulpalamas. They should be worried about them and their tulpalamas, occasionally looking to them for advice... not comparing their times to everyone else.

3.) Which is why these fucking accusations shouldn't exist in the first place!

Look, I'm not saying roleplaying is good, and to be honest, I wish less people would do it. Probably benefit the mancers as well in the personality department if they just waited for the tulpa. Still, people are going to do it, and in some cases, it can be productive. It's better than them forgetting about their tulpa alltogether I say...

(but the people who roleplay just for the sake of roleplaying... yeah, I'll agree with ya on them.)

I get it, Moon Shooter. I'm not saying that this is the way it should be, but:

1. Yes, it is already a bit outrageous of a claim, but you can't deny that the roleplayers make it worse. If someone looks up tulpas to see what they are, and the first thing they see is a roleplayer making his ridiculous claims, they will likely look no further. I know I wouldn't. You simply can't deny that they do in fact hinder our credibility.

2. Again, I know they shouldn't be comparing their progress to others'. But the sad truth is that it happens, and there's nothing we can do about that fact. I've sure as hell tried my best, but people still do it.

3. And yeah, ideally, no one should be bothered with a roleplayer accusation. It really isn't a mature thing to do, but I'm sure most to all of has have done it at some point or another.

And I also agree with you in the fact that it would be great if less people did it, but it's not going to stop. I realize it's not going to stop, and I therefore don't complain about it that much.

The only reason I replied to Jimmy about it is because it's ridiculous to imply that they do no harm.

I think more people really should just accept that that's the way it is. In every community, there will be people who you don't like, and who harm the community. Us bitching about it won't help anything. If anything, it shows to them that they are getting the reaction that they wanted, so they continue more. That's how it works for some of them, anyway.

I know what you mean. Roleplaying isn't going to go away, and there's no use fighting it. Yes it does harm, but it also helps. Personally, Roleplaying should be treated by the "don't ask, don't tell" rule. As in, no one accuses of roleplaying, and no one says they're roleplaying... even if they are. Someone being ridiculous, then something should be done about them. It's those extreme cases of roleplaying that really make us look bad. Ones just acting out how their tulpa would act might as well be mapping out their tulpa's personality, or actively parroting.

Again, I'm not saying it's a good thing, but rather not to be so quick to breaking roleplaying's shit. It can be useful... but it's also something that needs to be controled so that it doesn't get out of hand.

I ask this not skeptically, but curiously; how do you think roleplaying helps anyone?

Well, anyone besides the tulpamancer and their tulpa, none.

Not only does it continue to map out the personality of the tulpa, in the same way one might type out the personality traits on a trait sheet, or narrate said traits to the tulpa, alternatively a tulpamancer can "roleplay" as their tulpa. Now, I haven't done this personally, but a few have claimed that it can lead to an independant tulpa.

To me, it logically makes some sense. After all, if you did it in that manner, and did in-fact want a tulpa, they would be raised through said roleplaying as a seperate entity in your head. You'd be creating an alternate personality through said roleplaying... going even further, I've read that writers, when thinking and acting as their character for an extended period of time, their character could turn into a tulpa.

And finally, roleplaying in this manner just seems like a bunch of parroting out on the internet. And again, parroting can lead to a tulpa. And if people see and acknowledge these tulpalamas as real, then they'll be getting the stimuli they need and ultimately become real!

That's the way my logic's working anyhow. There's tons of people who I really really REALLY think are roleplaying, but reguardless, I as well as my own tulpalamas, will respect them as real beings unless they proved otherwise. If someone's clearly not planning to create a tulpa, or their roleplaying is just to troll or generally be annoying, that's when they should be burned at steak.

Mmm... trollplayer steak.
