Merman April 23, 2013 April 23, 2013 I guess with a bigger community more trolls and less-than-wise people are to be expected to pop up. It's an inevitability. My Progress Report

Lacquer April 24, 2013 April 24, 2013 I want to address roleplaying: (Prepare for a small rant) Roleplaying has taken it's toll on me, on everyone, I assume. My friends have been torn apart, and I've even suspected myself of it. I joined back in January, where there were maybe 2 roleplayers. How, how, in three fucking months, has it come to this savagery that we call roleplaying paranoia? We have torn each other to shreds over this. Why? Well because a lot of people are doing it! Why else would we assume the majority of people on this site are roleplayers? What I want to say is, please, for the love of God, Fuck off. Roleplayers: If you don't have a tulpa, if you aren't interested in making one, please go away. We don't want you here, I don't care who you are. You. Turn. Everything. To. Absolute. Shit. Fuck off. People who apply: Don't brag about your tulpa's "abilities" and whatnot. I'm sick of it, and I know I'm not the only one. No one gives 2 shreds. (Ex. OMGZ IM SO FAR, IMPOSITION TOOK ME 5 MIN! LOLOLOL! YOU GUYS ARE LOSERZ!) You can fuck off too Legit people: Keep on going. I know how annoying/difficult it must be with all the people stated above. You're our last hope for salvation. >tfw reverse-roleplayer >tfw zero progress but still posting
Guest Anonymous April 24, 2013 April 24, 2013 Well done DarthNikolai. You can point a finger. But at who? Just whom are these roleplayers? There's the issue. You can assume, you can point all you want, but you can't be sure. More often than not it's just a person with both a tulpa and an overactive imagination. Perhaps a nick or two of poor posting and bad decisions, but I digress. But in all honesty: who is to say you can't make a tulpa by roleplaying? Has anyone actually attempted this? I've yet to come across a case and any link to one would be wonderful. Or better yet, a roleplayer who starts roleplaying and then decides to make his roleplays real. There is an infinite number of ways to make a tulpa and here's something testable for this "for science" website. As for shrinking down the site - that won't do any good for anyone. Small sites die quickly from inactivity, usually ending up with ~5 elite members that use the site like facebook. Not to mention a small science-oriented website will struggle to get the attention of scholars which is quite frankly the goal here. Personally, I believe that the real cancer of the site is the immaturity and attention seeking. Certainly correlated with roleplaying, but not the cause. In example, topics like "tulpa sex", those are justifiable when presented in a serious manner. However, when discussing taboo topics for the shits and giggles it just goes downhill. Or when a user posts in his progress report he faps to his tulpa in a school bathroom. There are things better left unsaid. Things like these make me wonder just how in the world will this site be able to be taken seriously by the scholars. But not the scholars even. Man, there was a time when tulpas were esteemed, thought of as equal. Of late I've seen users blaming their tulpas for having unwanted traits(see: Tulpa not wanting to live), using them as sex dolls, and outright dissipating them when they lose their novelty. And in my honest opinion that mindset is what is killing the site.

Everything. To. Absolute. Shit. Fuck off. Wait a minute. There are actually more than just a few people like this? I'm more naive than I thought. Wow. I shouldn't be surprised though, honestly, what with 4Chan being a major contributor to the size of the community.
Lacquer April 24, 2013 April 24, 2013 But there were virtually zero roleplayers here at the beginning, when everyone came from 4chan.
Kiahdaj April 24, 2013 April 24, 2013 But there were virtually zero roleplayers here at the beginning, when everyone came from 4chan. You say that, even though you have no way of knowing. "If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."

And in my honest opinion that mindset is what is killing the site. Yes, I agree whole-heartedly. I'm sorta just assuming that roleplayers are those who only want attention, as I can see no other reason to do it. People can be disgusting, and I agree that people take it way to far here, that kind of thing should be left on 4chan, where it's acceptable This site is meant to be a resource for tulpa makers, not some sort of Tulpa-facebook/twitter where people can post whatever god-awful crap they can come up with. If I had my way, I would make such acts modded, but I know that wouldn't blow over well Name: Lilith Form: Human (see profile pic) Age: 19 (Created Dec. 29th 2012) Working on: Imposition
Nobillis April 24, 2013 April 24, 2013 It is widely acknowledged that the tulpa community is growing and changing, much in a way that's unexpected. What I'd like to discuss is: Where do you think the community is headed in the long-run? Additionally, do you like this outcome? What would you like the community to be like? {Kevin (a human) says: If this goes anything like the previous cycles, people eventually lose interest and it goes back to being an obscure Tibetan practice. If so, I'll just wait another 40 years for the next resurgence. At least now I know that it does come around again. What I hope will happen though, is that it will gradually find more acceptance and eventually be seriously studied by empirical testing. There is much interest in the brain now. Tulpas are now in psychology where fractals once were in mathematics ("not really part of this field"), and yet now fractals are used to design the antennas in your cell phone. It is possible that one day the people trying to work out how the brain works will notice some of the things the brain can do. Not the current scientists though, they already "know" how the brain works and are too sure of their knowledge to accept anything outside their current lemmas (theories).} Please consider supporting Tulpa.info.
