Raetin April 10, 2015 April 10, 2015 You see, there's a thing called sleep paralysis which keeps your body from acting out when you're asleep. Unless you're known for sleepwalking on a frequent basis, I wouldn't be worried about that. I have 10 tulpas, but I'm only actively working on Reah, my first tulpa currently. Progress Report
Charlotte Groves April 15, 2015 April 15, 2015 Okay, but I looked on a youtube video about a brony on a tulpa pony thread saying that his pony tulpaes turned against him and beat him and raped him for going out with another girl. Though he could've been fibbing.

Though he could've been fibbing. My money's on that last bit. Because again, tulpas just don't do that sort of thing. Not only do they not have the required level of control, but they also just shouldn't have any desire to harm their hosts like this. So unless a tulpamancer intentionally creates their tulpa as a malicious wad of jealously and then willingly gives them control without even trying to fight back, this sort of thing could never happen. Pinky is not a pony. She's an imp. Sunray is an angel-imp. Ex is humanoid. Kael is a dragon. Magnum is a dog.
Guest amber5885 April 15, 2015 April 15, 2015 Yeah that dude was lying. It's actually kind of insulting when people belive crap like that. We should have a PSA banner that says "TULPS DON'T GO DARK SIDE! THEY DO NOT KILL, THEY DO NOT RAPE, CREEPYPASTA IS A WORK OF FICTION!"

sushi April 15, 2015 April 15, 2015 If that really did happen to someone, I would suspect schizophrenia. Everyone is right that tulpas should not do that, but I think that sometimes someone with schizophrenia confuses their condition for tulpas. Yori April 19, 2015 April 19, 2015 I -am- skeptical of that. The tulpa would have to have some real issues, on top of having more control than the host. I don't buy tulpas being naturally good or anything apart from you forcing their personality. I see tulpas as like human people - they vary and are capable of malicious desires if they deviate. I can understand your surprise and fear, OP. I would mostly be happy about it, but I think there would be worry in the back of my mind, too. IMO, if your tulpa hasn't tried to hurt you, embarrass you, or control you (apart from that possession. I just mean trying to force you to do stuff with their voice, maybe some ultimatums, etc) before, you shouldn't be too worried. You can always check how much control you have with her. It sounds like you still have more control. My lip hurts.

It sounds like you still have more control. If a tulpa's ability to behave and not send things down the gutter is contingent if they deviate, what about the probability that with things like possession and switching, if they did have a propensity to do something malicious, they would in theory, feel the same physical sensations that would resonate with being malicious. And if we further the implications of their emotions being transient as well, I would presume that they would start seeing the repercussions for predispositions that don't really allow some kind of flourishing and rapport with their host. So it's not so much of finding if tulpas are inherently good, but rather; in spite of how they are (e.g. personality, desires, etc.), they would be able to refer to some kind of ability to self-reflect, especially from experiences from the host who may have went through similar trends as they would in this hypothetical sense, of being able to be a bit more empathetic of them, and also being able to think before they act out in those what if worst case scenarios. So it would feel pragmatic to be skeptical about tulpas being holier-than-thou and a bunch of Mary Sues other than a host wanting to further their belief in them being so. Some of this apprehensive feeling of their ability to flourish and ethically assess themselves along with their host is probably just individuals that may undermine their (as the host) ability to conceptualize a right and wrong of things; a normative ethic of how they "ought" to behave and interact with someone, and themselves in general. That way, no one will feel that they have to start out a tulpa with a goody-two shoes basis with personality, and hope that they won't someday make them jump off a cliff. Luminesce April 20, 2015 April 20, 2015 ^ tl;dr "Tulpas are not inherently bad, only if you believe they will be" and even then not always. In my case, my tulpas are a lot.. holier-than-thou? Nicer, more level-headed, caring and loving than me. But that's because 1, somewhere in my brain I have the capability of being such, and 2, I believed/wanted them to be. I didn't give any thought to my tulpas being malicious because why. The source of "evil tulpas" is people subconsciously making evil tulpas, not because of "the darkness in their hearts", but because they don't truly believe their tulpas will be nice and caring, or at least just normal. They believe their tulpas will be dark and malicious. It's not something you "have to watch out for", or something that'll ever happen if you don't want it to. It's just people failing to keep their imaginations under control. Which can be hard, mind you, when someone asks you not to think of a pink elephant, or in this case an evil tulpa. But just ignore the invasive thoughts saying anything bad and they will literally disappear, because it's your attention to them that gives them any depth. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
Linkzelda April 20, 2015 April 20, 2015 ^ tl;dr "Tulpas are not inherently bad, only if you believe they will be" and even then not always. I never said they aren't inherently bad. :( TL;DR: In spite of who and how they are to a host, it doesn't mean the host can't contribute in giving them some experiential learning in how a tulpa can map out how they assess themselves with others and their host. It's like one forgets and revels in the worst case scenario, and forgets about a host that would probably be able to reign in themselves should those cases arise. And an analogue for more food for thought; I'm sure I'm not the only one that met dream characters with malicious desires and ill intentions, but I still wake up to go about my quotidian lifestyle; it's not like they get pitchforks and ask my mind for further control.
