I've always been mildly interested in playing Osu but the weeby aesthetic has always been a major turnoff. Are there different looks? I'd be interested in giving it a try if anime girls weren't popping up all over the screen every five seconds. Also depends on what kinda music is accessible through it, I guess.

Also pretty bad at using a mouse in general, though. I play a decent bit of Overwatch and my accuracy is pretty shameful. Decent all-around player, sitting around 2500 in ranked (So average/above-average depending on who you ask), but yeah, aiming just never feels right to me. Might need to swap mouse pads or something, mine is too glidey.

Anyone still play OW on PC?

There are other skins. https://osuskins.info/

But finding a simple skin that isn't too simplified and takes away the charm of the game might be hard. You can easily get rid of the default combo girl popping up. But, you know, most beatmaps in general are going to have anime-style pictures if not videos in the background. And most of the music is Japanese/anime/video game. Not all, but most. I happen to like Touhou though.

Plenty of "normal" music if you look for it. Ex.

of ours. I could tell you how to get rid of the combo girl pretty quickly (gotta replace a couple picture files somewhere with a 1x1 blank pixel). But the game is also pretty challenging. There are easy difficulties, but if in general you don't have good control over your mouse (or a tablet to play with) I wouldn't recommend it.

Related to that, if you mean it's physically glidey, yeah, new mousepad or mouse. But if you mean the sensitivity is too high, you should be able to lower the DPI somewhere unless it's reaaally old, or cheap. Maybe even then.

DPI's usually fine, I keep it low and use my arm which is leagues better than high-DPI and wrist movement. Yeah, I do mean physically glidey, though. There's the bare minimum resistance, which is probably it. I've used a friend's, which was like, strenuous to move the mouse on, so that's not what I want, but yeah. Probably just need to buy a few and try them out.

Also yeah, I'll look into it after I can get the mouse situation sorted out, definitely.

If you say so, we do high DPI and wrist movement. Hand and mouse barely go anywhere, and yet it can look like

. Small clip from a song I played a few days ago, I had no idea it was going to be as hard as it was but managed to do pretty well for a moment there. Mice with low sensitivity drive me insane, having to make multiple swipes to get anywhere or using like a foot of mouse space is ridiculous.

We're at 2000dpi, so we comfortably use about an inch of space to go from one side of the screen to the other. Possibly as much as 1.5 inches but no more. Of course, our mouse was somewhat expensive (though we bought it years ago) and we have well over ten thousand hours using it, which is the (supposed, highly over-generalized) amount of practice you need to master a skill. Honestly, with 900 hours in the game Warframe, likely 1500+ in Minecraft (since ditching the laptop) and 1500 in TF2 (since ditching the laptop), we can basically guarantee that much time.

So, possibly a bad idea to do what we do, depending on your own computer using habits.

I don't think you're supposed to be able to move very much mid-air. Would make it too easy.

It's not the amount that's the problem, it's that each direction has different properties. Holding forward makes you go faster, holding backwards will make slow down while holding it but goes back to normal speed after releasing it. Spinning around and holding forward has a different effect to holding backwards. Strafing has the least effect (you barely move at all), which makes them baisically useless and instead you have to move the camera and hold forward to move left or right. I don't think all of that is even right, it's really confusing and annoying to get used to.

I learned how to make my replay recordings a little more watchable (actually, Lucilyn figured it out a while ago, to record a certain video in the near future). Don't worry, it wasn't by increasing the quality. Osurecord is still dead. It was apparently alive between my last upload and now, but it died again 2 days ago. But hey.. I hid all the annoying interface stuff.

OsuRecord works again, but I question its quality with this upload. I prefer our method of recording which is more cinematic, and the video even lags at the start.. But at least we can't be blamed for any lack of quality now. To be fair, the blaring in the audio quality is present in the beatmap too.

Only attempted this once. I stopped sucking after the start, don't worry. I'd say I did pretty well.

So I was playing Catgroove on Insane on osu and it was kinda fun because it's pretty fast and you hit like every beat. But I missed a few times and my score wasn't the highest at the end, Tewi's was. So I went to watch her replay because I thought it would be fun, and like, dang. There was no chill, she moved way faster than me even though it's a set course so I don't know how that's possible? I mean she didn't play that much better, she just didn't break a long combo when I did, but still. Idk, I love fast songs, but I have fun with it. Watching that video she just posted, I'm kinda jealous she can play like that. But maybe it's not as much fun as it looks. I mean, I think she dislikes Osu more than I do at this point, because I recently managed to stop caring about score, and supposedly her too even though she keeps playing for points anyway.

Idk just wanted to say something about that. I never realized how differently we play until just now. But I definitely have more fun.

Edit: Yeah I watched a replay of myself and then hers again, mine just seems like it flowed a lot better. She was moving to the next notes like instantly sometimes while I only moved as fast as I needed to. I feel like she was probably stressed out when she played that compared to me because how I'm playing seems a lot cleaner, but hey, I'm not the one with the high score..
