The strange thing is, Walpurgisnacht is celebrated to recognise the efforts of Saint Walpurgis...legend has it, after the fifteenth century, rumours of fell arts and witchcraft being practised upon Mount Brocken began to spring. Allegedly, its peak becomes an orgy of black masses and other dubious events on the eve of Saint Walpurgis' Feast Day (hence, Walpurgisnacht, or Walpurgis Night).

Walpurgis Night is the name of the oh-god-the-world-is-ending-in-X-days witch (quasi-eldritch monster) in Madoka Magica, and at some point in TF2 I named my Black Box Walpurgisnacht.
