Have you ever used incense or scented oil?

Have you ever used incense or scented oils to help you concentrate? I plan on using it to help clear my mind and be able to imagine my wonder land. I also talked to my psych therapist about being able to focus. She mentioned that there are even oils out there that you can put in a tiny jar and wear it on a necklace.

Side note; Sorry I have not been on in a while. College class work got crazy there for a while.

i used to chew gum when i forced, similar concept. focusing om the flavour helped me get into the zone. i should try incense though.

I've used essential oils in a diffuser or as a sort of cologne to help me relax, whether or not I'm meditating/forcing. I don't know if they inherently alter mental status due to any sort of biological mechanism, but they're calming for myself and many others.

 

I generally hold the view that whatever you can use to dissociate or strengthen your focus is worthwhile. Scents, tastes, music, temperature, symbols, environments, etc. For me, I know if I used a special mix of oils exclusively while forcing, it would aid the process and form a psychological association. Something to get into the zone, as Spice said.

something you dont normally chew works best. ive been using peppermint for forcing and chewing bubblemint when im bored/hungry

OOOOH. I have a candle actually that I found at Walmart. It's a beach candle, but it doesn't smell anything like a beach to me, just really soft nice cologne. It immediately got a response from him when I got a whiff of it. I keep what's left of its jar with me, but unfortunately I can't find this scent anymore. :C I hold onto it and refuse to burn what's left, because it's all I have.

 

I'll have to try incense sometime once I move out on my own and get my own apartment. I just moved to a new city a while ago and while I have the cash for a new apt, I have to apply and start looking for one soon. c: So hopefully not too long!
