What happens at two in your environment?

I suggest turning the heat down, and adding a thicker blanket to your bed. Eating a larger meal before bed. And sleeping twice a day in the short term.

Oh, the cylindar thing. Just flip it around. It's always that. :p

If you're gonna eat a large meal before bed, which is typically not recommended, try for protein as opposed to carbohydrates. The thing about carbs is that if you don't burn them off with physical activity in about 15-20 minutes, that shit is immediately stored as fat. Protein however just goes to building and repairing muscle and fueling other maintenance your body does while you're sleeping.

We're all gonna make it brah.

Nothing happens at two in my environment. Everyone is asleep, fan is running, space-heater is running (turning that off is not gonna happen, way too cold, my room has awful insulation), I just wake up. I can't figure it out. It's been the same circumstances for like seven/eight months since I moved in, now.

Can't sleep twice a day, usually, as I have work. Pretty much just trying to sleep, waking up at 2, and trying my hardest to fall back asleep by like 8 for work at noon.

Otherwise I just stay up until 4/5 in general and actually get 7-8 hours of sleep fine.

I've been cutting back on eating, and usually have dinner pretty early, so idk about the food thing.

Our body does not store fat. But we know it is easy to sleep after eating. So, yeah.

It's not a thing of what an individual body does, carbs turning into fat if they're not burned is a universal process that happens biochemically in the human body. Like, in general. If you have a fast metabolism or are an ectomorph, that doesn't change how your body processes what you put into it

We're all gonna make it brah.

Betting on the ectomorph. My host's body is alien. I swear. Grey alien in a human skin suit. Can't gain weight.

But if you are not eating, the body can wake up by the digestive system complaining that it is empty. Oh, if your room is actually too cold, you can wake up for that reason too. But then you would have told us you wake up cold.

Also, you might have a short internal clock, so your body naturally wants to sleep on a twenty three hour rotation or something. Then, when it gets dark out, your body decides your eight hours of sleep have started and if you are not asleep you are staying up late. Eh, I'm just guessing at this point.

you could also smoke weed

This life of games and diligent trust,

it's the things we do and the things we must.

I'm now tired of being cussed,

so go sleep forever, end to dust.

-Crystal Castles, VANISHED

I'm still waiting on my random drug test here at work. Will very lightly consider it after that. Have never smoked before, not keen to start, and can't really afford it, but if it helps fix this, I'll give it a shot

Um. . . I'm pretty sure you're supposed to take two.

Two's completely arbitrary, you have to know the dosage...

I suggest turning the heat down, and adding a thicker blanket to your bed. Eating a larger meal before bed. And sleeping twice a day in the short term.

I kind of disagree with some of that. Too hot is bad, maybe turn it down a bit if you want, but too cold is also bad. It's hard to get to sleep when you're hot, but your body produces a lot less heat once you're actually asleep. Thicker blanket is again dependent on if you're actually hot or not, and whether you find it comfortable, I don't like thick blankets personally. Eating before bed can cause problems though, because you stop digesting much when you sleep. It makes me wake up feeling sick if I eat right before bed, though personally my stomach is off for a good hour after waking up too, never remotely hungry or able to eat in that time. Sleeping twice a day.. I mean, changing to a biphasic schedule is a pretty drastic random decision, especially when you have a job. And it's hard to do and maintain. I have no idea why he's waking up at that specific time, so I have no idea what would happen if he slept before and after but not during it.. but again, that's kind of hard to just do.

So. I asked google about waking up at the same time every night. And jesus christ the top four results were all about the Chinese Organ Body Clock, the top image of one saying "Waking up between 3-5 AM can be a sign of a spiritual awakening." ffs

Well, it's still beyond common knowledge, even if Google can't help. Unfortunately, it really does sound like a "see a professional" type of scenario. {Wait, thought you said it had been going on for 6+ months, sorry} The fact that it's tied to the time of day and not how long you've been asleep is kind of baffling. That has to be an internal clock thing, or a hidden environmental factor. Either way it's strange enough to be a big deal. Luckily, a polysomnography is only $600-900! If you're lucky.

I can't directly help in an abnormal scenario like this, none of us can. If it goes on long enough (you decide how long that is, but two months straight would do it for me) it will actually be worth spending the money on, though obviously make sure you spend it in the right place and not some random general practitioner. So until then...

Has your diet changed, even a little, from what it was like when you last went 1-2 months with no trouble whatsoever? Not eating is not a solution to a bad diet. If you know your diet's not great, look into replacing bits and pieces with healthier alternatives. Can help with all sorts of things, from depression to sleep stabilization, literally everything really. Your diet is yeah-yeah-whatever in the short term, but it can be kind of scary when you think about the long term and how what you've been eating is what your body is making itself out of. Drink lots of water. Not necessarily before bed, but if getting up at 2AM to pee is an option then you might as well. I've done it to get myself out of bed in the middle of night for practicing lucid dreaming stuff lol. Too much water is unlikely. Not enough water is practically the norm. If you're not very physically active (I have literally no idea, just saying what I know), doing an adequate amount of exercise during the daytime can again help with everything from depression to sleep stabilization (but specifically for real this time). Exercise, aside from being just good for you, can force your body to work correctly. Be tired and sleep correctly, generally regulate itself correctly, that sort of thing. The type of exercise is up to you. Plenty of stuff can be done at home or between activities (like if your job allows), it doesn't have to be gym membership.

If you're willing to be slightly annoyed, at least for a while anyways, you can look into a biphasic sleeping schedule. Sleeping X hours until 1-2 AM or whatever you like, staying up X hours from 1-4 AM or whatever you like, and sleeping X hours from 4-whatever AM. If you stick to basically any sleeping schedule strictly enough, your body will adapt to it. For those I know who've done it, keeping it strict trains your brain when it should be sleeping and allows it to adapt the amount of REM sleep it needs. I know a guy (a very, very creative & productive & helpful in general guy with a very interesting personal development blog) who managed a polyphasic sleep schedule for quite a while, sleeping literally less than an hour each time but like 5-6 times a day, his body eventually adapted to enter REM sleep (and fall asleep at all) almost immediately each time. Biphasic is much easier.

Yeah, I'd say at absolute worst, use an alarm clock to wake yourself up right before the trouble time, and try to go back to sleep (lie there whether you sleep or not) right after it, every night. If it really avoids all the negative effects, awesome. If you do choose to do that, you'll undoubtedly (well, maybe you'll just be lucky) have to lie awake in bed afterwards being "too awake" to sleep. But hey, sounds like you're used to it. If you do that long enough your body should get the message and you'll have less trouble falling asleep at that time.

I have literally no idea what's wrong with your body and sleeping at that time, so I don't know if that cheap trick would work. It would be kind of funny if it did though.

Lastly, I just can't suggest people start doing marijuana. If you're doing it already, whatever, but getting into a drug is a very serious decision. I personally don't believe marijuana tends to have many negative effects honestly. But it will cost you, a lot, for the foreseeable future, as all drugs will. Also opens you up to some potential social discrimination, if you care. Anyways, good luck.
