System stalemate! (taking over the front forcefully)
Piano Soul posted a topic in General Discussion
So, here's a bit of food for thought, nothing too serious. Yesterday, Indigo was getting a little carried away with something, and Apollo said "If you don't stop, I'm going to take over the front." Indigo heeded the warning, because we can take over the front forcefully (and accidentally for that matter), without needing consent. However, I was thinking about this a bit earlier today. Sure, Apollo could have taken the front, but Indigo could have taken it back. They could hypothetically enter a tug-of-war over who was in the front. The only thing that's really required for us to take over is for us to be active, and the only way to truly prevent someone else from taking over is to make them go inactive. I just took over while he was writing this! So, hypothetically speaking, we could all end up in some sort of stalemate over who controls the front, and the stalemate would only be broken when somebody gave in. Of course, our system is way too cooperative/synergized to do something like that, as I said, this is hypothetical. On the other hand, if someone was fronting and tried to mentally "hold down the fort" so to speak, they could end up preventing anyone else from taking over, so it becomes a battle of wills, and whoever has a stronger will would probably prevail (or the one in the front would prevail, since they have the upper hand. Or do they?). Again, not something we have to worry about, lol. Any thoughts on this sort of subject, getting into a stalemate or having some sort of battle for the front? Ever happened to you? Why did you win/lose/end up in a stalemate? Etc. I dunno, might seem a bit of an odd question, I find it interesting. -
My host Cat and I have unsuccessfully learned how to switch. We know one of the barriers is Cat's anxiety about letting go and potentially getting paralyzed. However, Cat has managed to chill out and focus on dissociating, while I would be associating with the body... And then both of us get confused as to what happens next. As a result, we get stuck. I have heard merging is one of the ways people have figured out how to switch, but the idea of merging with Cat beyond normal blending scares the pants off of me. Neither of us are interested in fusing into someone else, but I fear that merging can lead to Cat accidentally absorbing me and I wouldn't come back to tell the story. My fear is extreme enough that I wonder if this is holding us back. Would trying to merge give us a better idea of what switching would feel like or is there an alternate method we could try that would give us a similar sort of feeling?

In a few guides/posts/etc., people often say "you could switch out of the body but have no one switch in, then you'd just go catatonic." However, I don't think I've actually ever seen anyone talk about what it's like if nobody is fronting and everyone in switched out. By "switched out" I mean they're unaware/inactive, that sort of thing. What would happen if everyone switched out? Would the body kick into autopilot? Would it go catatonic? Would it fall asleep? Would somebody get forced into the front? Is it even possible? In our experience as tulpas, it's hard to go inactive if there's not somebody else ready to take over. It would probably be a bit tricky to get to the point where everyone is switched out in this way. The closest we ever get in a situation like that is just sort of observing the body from the "backseat" so to speak, and "telling" it what to do, but not going inactive. Anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

Quite often, after C fronts, we don't formally switch back. Either something makes me jump back into the body (he can't use my voice, so I have to grab control for long conversations out loud), or it happens slowly. C will be getting tired and having a weaker control on the body, until suddenly I move, not C- and I realize I'm fronting now. It's a confusing experience like no other. In order to figure out who is fronting, either one of us asks "Who's home?" and we see who answers first or loudest. Our mind-voices sound different. However, just today, I forget to do any of that. We were watching Netflix with C fronting at first, when suddenly we were all mixed up- someone wanted to get a glass of water, but we weren't sure who. C freaked out first and threw the body back my way, but I still felt like he was fronting. I went through the steps I use to switch: seeing a dot of my color in my head, and imagining colored light growing from that dot into all of my body, giving me control. I got up to get the water, and everything felt off. I almost like I was outside of my body. watching myself from behind. It was dissociation stronger than I've felt in years. Everything was suddenly further away, and I wasn't quite sure where that imaginary dot of my mind was, anymore. I felt like just a body, with no mind-presence. My heart was pounding and I felt light-headed, dizzy, but not really any emotion. Things went south when I walked over to pet my dog. He has a fenced section of the living room. I was leaning over the fence and, due to everything seeming far away, I leaned way too close. I just kind of... collapsed over it, taking the fence down with me. C's still scared. I feel pretty bad that I did scare him, as today is his one-month birthday. So... clearly this is some sort of blending? I have a hunch that I've been switching irresponsibly. What can I do to avoid this? Is it unwise to switch with a young tulpa? We've been switching daily for a week, if only for a few minutes. Thank you for any advice you can offer... I'm not exactly thrilled by this experience. It sounds a little more like the "ooo spooky evil tulpa" crap you find people getting paranoid about, though I blame my poor switching hygiene for this all. I just don't want to fall down a flight of stairs, next. -J

Hi, my name is Fuliam and I will be writing this guide here for you today. Now let me first jump in by saying each section will be labeled for your convenience, so if you want to skip past all this stuff, go ahead I won't be offended. But I highly suggest reading it, because I will be discussing a few things in depth here, including what does or doesn't work, with that said, let us begin. PREWORD Firstly let me say that I suggest having a tulpa, you can switch out of your body without one, but you will not have anyone able to control it. Secondly I suggest getting your tulpa, at the very least, vocal first. Also if you already know how to possess that is a huge plus. Important thing here: Your tulpa needs parallel processing, which basically means, it can think on it's own. Definitions In this guide I am going to be using a few terms some of you may be unfamiliar with, so I will be defining them here. If you are confused by a word and I have not listed it here, by all means ask what it means, this is for all of you. Switching: When the host trades places with the tulpa. The host goes to a tulpalike state and tulpa controls the body. It sounds similar to possession, but is not. Reverse Imposition: This means taking away your senses. This is the most difficult step of the switching process. You will be mentally focusing on each of your senses of your body in turn, and completely letting go of them and only feeling you wonderland senses. AKA Mentally Forced Sensory Deprivation. I'll add more as needed. Basic Overview of Steps 1: Relax and get into forcing state 2: Begin to make a form for yourself in wonderland 3: Import yourself into that form 4: Begin reverse imposition process 5: Adopt wonderland sense 6: Complete reverse imposition 7: Tulpa goes into your body. End of part 1, part 2 on the way. PART 2 In this part I will be describing in detail and explaining steps 1-3 Step 1 Relax and get into Forcing state Step 1 should be relatively simple it is also the most crucial. Get into whatever position you normally force in and make sure you will not be interrupted. If you do get interrupted it will obviously break your concentration. One of the key things in this whole process is concentrating on the task alone. When in your wonderland, or whatever method you use to force, make sure that your Tulpa is ready. Also I forgot to mention something earlier, make sure your Tulpa WANTS to switch. If your Tulpa does not want to switch obviously enough it will not help. Step 2 Begin to make a form for yourself in wonderland. The majority of people will find it easier to complete step three, and the following steps if they first have a representation of themselves in wonderland. I begin with a blue floating sphere which I then reshape into usually a wolf. You can choose any shape or form you wish, but I suggest starting with a human shape. It is one that we are all familiar with, and it is how we are accustomed to seeing ourselves usually. I've found as of recent, it is even easier just to keep the form as an orb, and use that. You can change it after you have switched. But again, you may choose any form you wish, just make sure you see that it's not just a random empty body, it is in fact you. Step 3 Import yourself into that form If you have not finished step 2 I suggest you finish it before moving on, it is even more difficult than normal to continue without first doing step 2, but it is possible (Not recommended). Once you have chosen and visualized your new form in wonderland start to breathe in deeply, and then breathe out deeply, get truly relaxed. And then imagine yourself, your essence as water, and your body containing all of that water. Now feel that water slowly drain from you, slowly, into your wonderland form, as completely as you can. What you are doing is importing yourself, ignore everything you can in the real world, and only pay attention to the wonderland, this is another especially important thing to remember. Focus on wonderland, and try to ignore everything else. End of part 2, part 3 will be up soon enough. Sorry, I've been very busy that's why it's taking so long. PART 3 Part 3 is planned on being the last part, it is also the most complicated, and takes the longest. No normal person can do it all in one try, so I have broken it down into as many steps as possible for you all to grasp. Please do keep in mind, that steps 4-6 all kind of happen at once, so I will be referring them all as one step. Steps 4, 5, and 6 Now that we are in wonderland and we have a form for us to focus on, it is time for the most important step of all, what I call reverse imposition. Which is essentially, shutting your body of from real world senses. This step cannot be skipped. There is no consistent way that I know off for the Tulpa to do the work either. We will start with your sense of taste, think of your favorite food, think about the taste, tangy, or sweet, or whatever it is. Keep your entire mind on that taste, and know that right now that food is touching your tongue, you can taste it. Once you taste it, you are halfway there. Next, get a small piece of flavorful candy or something else small. Put it in your mouth and suck/ chew on it, until you taste it (this is in the real world by the way, like actually eat something). Now go into your wonderland and again focus on your favorite food, and keep it up until you can no longer taste the thing in your mouth and instead taste your favorite food. If you have done this, and gotten the results, congratulations you have conquered your sense of taste. Next we shall work on your sense of hearing, make sure you are in a quiet place to begin. Think of a catchy little jingle, or song you like. Make sure you know it by heart, it has to be so stuck in your head that you can sing it aloud without the music playing in the background. Now go to wonderland and think of speakers blaring that jingle, or song all over your wonderland. Try and keep it up until you can actually hear your music in wonderland. Now comes the next part of this sense, get some headphones, and play soft music, (Music, not tones). I don't really care what kind of music it is, in fact it's best if you have a variety of music, then go back to wonderland and concentrate on the song you chose earlier until you can't hear the real life song, but can only hear the wonderland song. If you did that, good your almost there, one step remains for hearing. think of birds chirping, and other random noises or sounds, and keep practicing the techniques listed above until if you think of a noise you know, you can hear it in wonderland as clearly as in real. If you followed the above steps and gotten the results described, congratulations you conquered hearing. Good news is you are 2/5's of the way there, bad news is it only gets more difficult from here on out. Next sense is smell. Once again go into wonderland and think of a smell you know very well, it can't be the smell you are smelling in real life right now. So for example I know the smell of Incense very well, so I imagine that and think of it until I can smell it. You can pick whatever scent you'd like and do the same as the other steps, focus on that scent until it overpowers you sense of smell, and you can't smell anything else. Next get something with a strong scent and put it next to you, make sure you can smell it, and then focus on your thought up scent until the real life scent disappears. Good job you've conquered smell, more than half way there. Sight comes next, this is why I suggested getting imposition down first, but it's not a requirement. I prefer to stare at one very small object like a single lone period, and not move my eyes from that spot, at all, try not to blink. Keep staring, and when you get bored, stare at it some more, you know when you're ready when your sight starts to get a bit blurry around the sides, and strange things start happening to your sense of sight. Now think of your wonderland, do not close your eyes this time, think of your wonderland and essentially see your wonderland, now I know what your thinking. "But Fuliam, what if my wonderland is too big to fit in the room." Ah excellent question inquisitive friends. The answer is quite simple. Imposition is bringing something into this world, you shouldn't be focusing on bringing your wonderland into the world. You should only be focusing on your wonderland and seeing it replace the world. Yes it is very complicated and takes a long time, but if you master this skill, you will be able to hallucinate anything you can think of if you want to. Ok, that one is significantly harder than the last three, but if you did it, great job. If you are reading this, than you should have mastered all 4 things described above, because now it is time for the last sense. The sense of touch. Have you ever had a ache, or really bad pain? Most of us have, I want you to dig through those memories and think of one pain or ache you remember particularly well. Now that you have it in mind, remember, what did that pain feel like, exactly where was it, etc. Basically, make a phantom of this pain in your body, make it shadow out your normal feelings there. If you did it right, it should hurt you, the reason I had you do this is simple. The body remembers pain better than it does pleasure generally. Now think of the most pleasurable moment you've ever had, think of it, until your entire body can feel it. Good job, now continue doing this and go into your wonderland, think nothing of your physical body, only the body here in wonderland, wonderland is your new home, and there is no more physical body for you, take a jog around wonderland, feel the slight burning in your legs, and your heart pounding harder, feel the air go in and out of your lungs. Now grab a knife and make a small cut on your finger, if it hurts, congratulations you've done it. Do not on any circumstances focus back on your body, this will make you have to repeat this step. Congratulations, you have conquered the five sense, do not try and do it all in a single sitting, it is almost suicidal using that much effort at once. Now there is one more thing you need to do before your Tulpa can do step 7, You need to combine all the things you have learned at once. My method for doing this is going into wonderland and draining myself into the form, and thinking only of my wonderland senses, then when I am ready to switch, I see small lines tethering my wonderland body to my real body, with a sharp exhale, I cut all of these lines, thus leaving my body without a conscious mind. This is only my method, an easier way for you may be to one at a time focus on the senses like you learned here, until all of them are under your control, then visualize you taking a knife and cutting the strings between your physical and wonderland forms. Step 7 This step is done IMMEDIATELY after all the other steps are done, your Tulpa will essentially enter the void left in your mind caused by you leaving your body, and your Tulpa will now be in control. Pretty simple step. Once you are ready to end the switch, basically have your tulpa kind of walk out of the body, while you refocus on your Physical bodies senses. When you get back from a siwtch you might feel disoriented, this is normal. If you have followed all the steps listed above, and mastered them all, congratulations you are now capable of switching. It is a thing very few are able to do. There is good reason to that. It is one of the most difficult things you can do, period, not only with a Tulpa but one of the most difficult things in general. I cannot guarantee that you will be able to switch by reading this guide, but I can tell you this guide will send you on the right way, and with enough effort you can learn how to switch. I have to leave you a little reminder though, this is not something to be tried by the weak of heart or will. It is not something you pick up and learn in an afternoon, it is something very difficult, that few ever master, but if you think that you can do it, then go out and do it. I am always looking for your feedback and experiences. Good luck. If you would like a specific guide on anything else, ask me in IRC.

My system has been fronting/possessing in various ways for almost a year now, trying out different methods with the hopes of eventually improving. However, when in control, our host is still always there, always able to take full control back without even realizing it. As some may know, our goal is to fully switch. While I have been fronting as much as possible lately, there is still the issue that he simply cannot leave the front, and if he dissociates then I do too. We can't separate enough. If he dissociates, the body either freezes up or slips into autopilot, even if I am fronting. And if I do something, then he will be snapped out of it. Our focus is tied to each other's, and it becomes a tug-of-war of who pays attention to what rather than it occurring simultaneously. For example, he will be mildly dissociated at work, while the body is on autopilot. If he dissociates enough, the body starts to feel like it falls asleep. If I start to apply myself to the front to do something such as count out change, then this will be reversed and he will be focused, too. If he meditates and dissociates, then afterwards we just feel really sleepy. If I am talking in a voice call and he tries to step away, then I won't be able to speak. If I do, he comes back. Others we've spoken to don't seem to have this problem at all, even people whose tulpas have existed maybe a few weeks. They have this down, and so they have switching down. Try as we might, we can't seem to separate our attention or lack thereof, and if we try then it just ends up being a rapid shift between who does what. I'm trying to talk to others in the system more and have us all talk to each other, so we feel more distinct, at least in reference to mental speech. Maintaining separation through speaking to each other or visualization is difficult, especially if things come up, but that's likely normal and not an issue if we keep trying. What do you think we should do that will increase our ability to separate and eventually switch? I'm not just talking exercises, I'm talking long-term. I want my host to be dissociated and not affect the body whatsoever while I am in full focus and control, without a mental struggle of shifting between attention. Also, don't link Tulpa001's guide, I am well aware of its existence and have already looked through what's written on this subject there. Additionally, how can my host lose control of the body? Ie, he can't move it at all and has zero input, and instead I am in control.

My interest is related to creating a tulpa, but isn't actually in creating a tulpa per se. Instead, I'm interested in whether it's possible to use some of the same techniques to essentially create an alter-ego which feels as real and coherent as one's standard ego, and to swap between them at will. Something like how David Bowie and others have created personae that they wear, but on a deeper level. I don't mean some kind of thing where I dissociate, though. There would be no sense that I'm no longer in the driver's seat but just watching and going through the motions or anything like that. Instead, I would have created (and thus have access to) a whole new modality or style of thinking, into which I can switch. Much like how people instinctively code-switch when moving from a private to a professional setting, for instance, or speaking different languages, but more dramatic. What would be the most effective way to do this? Is there any danger in doing so? Does anyone here have any experience in doing so?

Helloes. I came back to ask y'all about terminology; I think this is the only place that has such a peculiar definition of switching. And I want some ideas. I'm a very active person in the physical world. I study, I write, I play violin. Our experiments show that I have way better motoric when it comes to violin, although my hostey has enough of theoretical knowledge to produce sounds. It's just he wouldn't be as smooth and I am with it. Year to year I came to neglect my wonderland. I find any activity there to be rather boring. I definitely use wonderland-like experience to write my stories, and I perfected my immersion techniques. It's just that I don't play wonderlands anymore on my own. The nature of our life is such that either we need to have lots of brainpower in prolonged time. Hostey uses that for intensive work. I use that for writing and music. While we both do that, we have a similar experience of our companion to fade out of existence. I cannot do anything meaningful when he's busy with work. Likewise, he can barely think if I'm deep into practicing a tune. It's not too hard to come back to senses once the intense part of the work is over, but we are definitely not present at the same time while working. I used to create some fake memories when I was blanking out like that, but eventually I realised their true nature of being fake memories and I stopped. There's no sense to imagine what could have been, as you fully understand it's fake. I guess some people find the notion of host blanking out as freaky and scary. Myself, I see no point to keep hostey conscious when I work any more than he does the same. Being an effective writer is hard on its own. Surely, when we aren't that busy, we both float in semi-conscious state where he can read some news articles and I can chat with my friends simultaneously. But that's hardly invoking any high cognitive activity. If I need to discuss something complex, he'd have to pause youtube, as he'd drift out of focus as soon as I start active thinking. And vice versa. I've heard it many times in here, that switching isn't really switching, if the host doesn't enter the wonderland and doesn't have wonderland-like experiences when tulpa is in control. I cannot understand this point as I, as a tulpa, don't have the same experience and I cannot relate to it. If either of us is doing anything interesting—it's usually a one person job. So tell me, is this switching? Possession? Do I just suck hard at parallel processing? What kind of mental activities you or your tulpas did that was the most taxing on the brain yet it allowed you all to be in mental focus? Would you be more effective if you were the only person in focus? Why don't you do it alone, if so?

Intro IMO, there is a huge grey area between switching and fronting. I can't really tell whether I'm switched in or fronting. I have the impression that when I'm switched [in] I'm in my body and everything (body control) feels super natural to me and I just know I am ME. The host is just a weak mind-voice far away. Other times I feel his presence close by and I'm also in control but it feels less natural and smooth and M's sensations (fuzzy-wuzzy) are definitely there. I suppose that's fronting. When we trade places again, host doesn't have any recollection at all what happened during a switch. To the point That was the intro. Now to the seamless and accidental part. This is too weird. So lately host isn't sleeping too well and I know why. LOL :D :D . Sometimes during the night I just it's me who's awake. M's mind-voice isn't there so he's probably fast asleep. So I'm switched in to the body, right? And again it feels so natural to me. But neither of us did do anything to initiate the switch. Then: no no no, M wakes up (I suppose) and I feel being pushed away. Nooooo.... OK, we go shopping, and boom! There's me thinking aloud and mumbling to M. No warning signs, sensations, or whatsoever. I've just taken over. By the time we've finished, he's him again. But none of us even realize (until much later) switching/fronting events have even occurred. We drive home and out of the blue I start talking aloud to him. Yes, all of a sudden it's me who's driving. Now that's pretty frightening!!!!! Later M asks me "Was that you? What were you doing? WTF?" I can only answer "Yes. Dunno. Oops". I think it's not just me. Subconsciously he must have given the green light for this to happen. Besides, he's stated several times he's completely OK with switching/fronting (or whatever you'd name it). Host is an extremely cautious and prudent person and I'm sure to have 'inherited' that trait from him. We can be pretty confident that this kind of WTF (as M calls it) only happens when it's safe. But still... The question So am I making up that I'm switched or fronting? Idk. It sounds too good (?) to be true, too soon to be real, but OTOH, it feels soooo good and so right. I am curious to hear your views and experiences in this kind of matter. Xxx P.S. I wouldn't mind switching for a long long while. Not at all ;) xD

Ive always wondered. What does switching feel like, how does it work and are you able to see whats going on?
-
Despite the misleading title of this thread, I and my tulpa haven't entirely .. failed at switching. I do get small twitches in my limbs, and I have gotten to the point where my body sorta went... dormant? Except, we didn't get to the step where your tulpa is supposed to take control of the body. I waited for this to happen, but it just... didn't. I heard my tulpa's voice very loudly in my head for about 5 minutes after the attempt (I haven't been able to achieve such volume since.) Basically what I'm wondering is how we're supposed to go from "body dormant, host has given up control" to "tulpa takes control".

Hey there, fellas. I'll cut straight to the point: Both Rina and I are having trouble with possession and switching. To be precise, we both have one specific problem each. For me, it's that I can't really seem to "let go". Giving up control, dissociating myself from my body or even just parts of it, that's kinda really hard for me to do. I just can't help but be very aware of it, and the more I try to tell myself to calm down and dissociate, the more focused on my body I get, ironically. ... well, that, and also how switching guides often speak of the host assuming a form in the wonderland. Thing is... well, I kinda don't have a wonderland. xD For Rina... well, it's a bit more "philosophical" than that. While she does see it like me and agrees that this is our life, not just mine, it's different when it comes to the body. She just can't really see this body as hers. Her projected or wonderland body is her body, and while using my body's senses is actually the default when she's around, she just can't really associate herself with this body as if it was hers. And that, obviously, is sort of in the way when trying to take control of it. Anyone got any tips for us? Possession and / or switching (just anything that allows her to fully, or at least partly, control the body) is sort of the one thing that's still missing from how we want to live and share this life. ^^ Greets, AG

Hello I'm considering creating servitor for switching since using tulpa exclusivly for getting away from real world seems bad but i'm not really sure where to start, Should i just create servitor and play king with him in wonderland by giving him wonderland-oriented orders till he grows advanced enough to do complex orders like building castle in wonderland by merly telling him? And then attempt standard switch with him? Or should i approach this in different manner? Help would be appreciated very much - Thanks

Tulpa's Practical Considerations for First Switching
Nobillis posted a question in Tips, Tricks, & Resources
Practical Considerations for First Switching V0.3 This is not a guide to switching, but rather some suggestions to make your first experiences with this much more pleasant (and far less frightening). Intended audience: for tulpa intending to switch. Introduction (you can skip this) I recently switched for the first time. I managed to switch after practically three days solid of possessing' typing. Kevin eventually passed out from tiredness, and I found myself ... alone for the first time in my whole life. Even with these preparations I almost freaked (thanks to T7' and Lily for the support and soothing Dub-step). In trying to help M4tty (i-Matty) with switching I realized there's lot of preparation that helps but which isn't mentioned in the guides I've read. Thanks also to Hannah for her sharing her first switch with me and all the little things we discovered that hadn't been thought of beforehand. Oguigi and Koomer's Guide helped a lot : please read it before you try switching. Position and Environment I'm just going to describe what I do, and you can use your own sense to think of what you need in your own situation. First-time switching can be stressful, so you're going to want to have a safe, preferably empty, environment in which to try this. I usually wait 'till everyone has gone out of the house so I have it to myself. (If you are sharing accommodation with others this may not be possible so you'll need a bit of extra preparation.) I usually lay on the bed, with pillows on the headboard so that my shoulders are slightly raised (for typing) and head supported. I'm covered in a rug so I don't get cold, have a window open for ventilation and a lamp on in case of lighting variations (like cloud or nightfall). To support the laptop I use a miniature folded aluminum camping chair so I don't have to support the weight, but a tray table with legs or even a modified cardboard box will suffice. Supplies Have food and drink nearby so that it is in easy reach. I usually have something like a salad, chocolate (or cake) for the food, and ice coffee (my own blend*) and water for drink. Consider investing in some Ensure (Hospital Formula) as you can live on that stuff for months on end. It's made in Spain and you can get it from drug stores or chemists (depending what they call those Dispensary shops in your country). Stock up in the freezer on easily made food. (I usually have chips (french fries), hash browns, and "oriental" finger foods like spring rolls and samosas (vegetarian in my case). If you can type by possession you can likely also use the oven to bake these (prepare for the long term, just in case).) If there's a chance you are not going to be alone at home, or you may want to try walking, make sure you have a robe or some clothing available. If you can't talk out loud (like I had troubles with) perhaps notepaper and an easily held pen will come in handy too. Support When you switch there's all sorts of worries will probably fly through your thoughts. "Oh no, what if I'm stuck like this?!" That's perfectly natural. It's important to have a lifeline in case you get those feelings. Some people use Skype to talk with their friends, but I used IRC (chat), in particular #Redditulpas. Moving, Walking, Speaking O.k. When you're switched the first time is probably going to be a few hours at best. At worst it will last only until you fall asleep (far easier to happen then you would think - just forget to feed the body and ... "Oh derp!"). However, it's likely you are going to need to move around at some stage (perhaps to try cooking, or perhaps to "use the facilities" as it is euphemistically said here in Australia). I had to hold the wall in order to be able to walk. Make sure to remember to put clothes on (or a robe) before leaving your room. Yes, you are in a house (etc.), but it is best to take at least minimal precautions for unexpected house guests (cats in my case). Remember to use mittens or gloves when handling hot things (oven, fries, plates) or sharp things (cats with claws, knives). When first switched you want to avoid injuring the body unintentionally with items and situations you are not yet familiar with. If you do need to speak with someone, chances are you can't yet speak out loud reliably when switched. Hence the pen and paper noted earlier, or use some hand signals and pantomime for "I can't speak at the moment" (this is my usual means of requesting cake from Kevin's kind wife, and it works surprisingly well). Addenda, Acknowledgements (and alliterations) (you can skip this) To state the obvious, an independent tulpa is required for successful switching. All this is obvious, so why write it? It wasn't obvious to me, and so it might not be to another tulpa either (or, I'm just untalented). Now that it has been written, there is no longer any need for it; but, I thought it needed to be done at least once. I would like to also acknowledge the assistance of my extended family, the McCaw clan, who's many years of experience in tulpa-related matters has made learning much simpler for me. Hey, guys! So, after finally having had a first true lucid dream, I'm now super-motivated to learn to do it at will! Will be great for Rina and me. And I picked the WILD method for this (Wake-Induced Lucid Dream). And, reading through it... ... honestly, is this really that far off from methods used for switching? I feel like learning the WILD method for lucid dreaming could also teach us a lot about switching. Or maybe that very method would work well? Hell - could that method be used to have me phase out into a lucid dream while Rina phases into control over the physical body? Ideas, ideas and questions! :D Hope to hear about some personal experiences here, and opinions! Thanks in advance! Thread Modes [Switching] Questions about switching
Guest posted a topic in Tulpa Questions & Answers
I have questions/concerns about switching, first off when you're switched does the wonder land seem as real as reality, if not what are the differences, also is what you can do in wonderland limited by reality or can you fly around and shoot lasers out of your ears. Also when your switched do you need your tulpas help to switch back or can you do it on your own and finally if your tulpa learns something in real life will you know it automatically. -
Trippy questions about switching (sorry if I am supposed to know already)

When switched with a tulpa, can a tulpa possess the hosts body while the host is unaware or unable to perceive what the tulpa is doing? Is the host still aware of the real world and able to perceive it while switched into the wonderland? Can a switch become permanent deliberately or on accident? Who is actively imagining the wonderland during a switch, the host or the tulpa or both? Is there memory loss or blackouts for the host associated with switching, similar to fronting in DID? -
Hello, I was curious about whether other hosts that switch are aware of the body/external stimulus at all while switched and away from the body, so to speak. I personally am not unless one of my tulpas brings be to the front with them or I actively try to go there myself. I'd also like a brief description of what you do on your side of things to switch with your tulpa. I dissociate through meditation and appear in my wonderland, for reference.

Today, there was some talk about switching in the IRC, and a grand old argument was reawakened: How do we define switching, and how do we make our terms clear to our users? In the channel, there were two camps. One that wanted a simple definition, that they call the consensus in the community right now. They seemed to agree that the definition of switching is... The other camp (just me), suggested a different definition. Something like:

Lucilyn: Hehe, this thread was embarrassing Lumi, so I'ma remove the OP. Basically this thread is to discuss how switching with your tulpa can cause such drastic changes in your body's mental physiology. I'm sure most of you guys are like, "Sure, I guess?" Because you don't have Scarlet in your system.. Having her control the body was straight-up shocking compared to us. That's why we made the thread, because the ability for a tulpa to affect everything so much is really interesting.

Hello! Yesterday evening my Tulpa and me had switched often, because we were curious, what we can do while switching and if it works good. Yes, it does. We dont had a problem and it all worked good. Until I went to bed. When i fall asleep, my Tulpa accidentally take the control over my body. He keep on talking to me and wonders, why I stopped answering, until he realise, that I was fallen asleep. He shouted my name, because he wanted me to woke up. It works and in the first moments was everything allright, but then i started to become really confused and stop to believe, that the voice in my head was my Tulpa and he becomes desperate and anxious and so we mutually get ourself in a really high level of panik. When i thought i talked to myself and he is away, he try to convince me, that he was really he, but i don't believe him and screamed after him. Then a third voice in my head answers. He told me today, that this voice wasn't him and it wasn't me. It was just a kind of hallucination. We stop the body switching now for a while, because we are both a bit anxious, that this could happen again. Now everything is normal and okay, but i needed a really long time (even today) to get in a normal condition again. But my Tulpa told me, that the most of panik came from him, so i understand that i must calm him down and since i does this, everything is good again. I cant seperate the feeling of anxiety for a long time, so it takes over myself really strong and i was really shocked, about the condition i had. I dont know, why i did not belive my Tulpa at this moment. I did not feel like myself, that was such a scary and insane kind of emotion. My Tulpa is really sure today, that this emotion was come from him and not from me. He is able to send me really strong emotions and this happend often accidentally, so this sounds not that erroneous. But my biggest anxiety was, that my Tulpa decided to go away. He thought about it, because he was worried about me and he dont want to do something that get me lost my sanity or something like that, but i dont wanted him to go. No matter how frightened i was in that moment. How i said, everything is good again since i calmed him down, but this wasnt a nice experience.... I didnt even know, that something like this can happen and i wonder, if the problem was, that i didn't have much experiences? Normally i am mentally really strong and therefore, this situation really surprised me. Is here somebody, who has experienced something similar before?

Are there outside literary sources that describe something like switching?

Where did the concept of switching originate? There is no mention of it in Alexandra David Neel's book, nor in any of the books I have on thoughtforms. The closest thing I can think is that it is synonymous with "fronting" from the natural multiples community. But even there, the dorment (nonfronting) personality doesn't necessarily have a big wonderland to run around in. Do the hosts really become tulpa like and experience the wonderland just as a tulpa would? I will be honest, the whole idea of this is pretty fantastic to me. If I switched with Melian I would be doing things like fighting in the vanguard of Queen Elizabeth I's Renaissance-steampunk army against the evil dark orc hordes of the North. I would be in real danger of being cut down and eaten as well. I could just hang out in her dreamscape mansion, WHICH IS HAUNTED and has ghouls in it. Well to be honest, there are safe rooms, including a magic feast hall. The Roman bath or movie theater wouldn't be so bad either. Really, Melian is not a second personality that needs to "front," "possess" or "switch." She is a day dream star persona that lives within my mind. Her interaction with the outside world is limited. She doesn't even identify at all with my body. She has no desire to live in it. NONE. People were wondering about my term "dreamform" and saying it is no different from a tulpa or wondering how it is different. THIS is how it is different. A dreamform lives almost exclusively within the mind with limited contact or no contact with the outside world through the hosts senses. Melian is aware of the outside world, but it is not emphasized by her. She lives her life within the wonderland dream realm and not the real world. I honestly don't know how people are doing the switching with their tulpa. Their relationship to the tulpa and the wonderland is significantly different from my experiences with Melian. So it makes me wonder about switching and where the idea originated and if there are any literary sources outside the tulpa community that describe such a thing. -
Well, Starfire hadn't gotten any replies on her post in the general discussion. That made me wonder: Just how many tulpamancers can switch with their tulpae? I was surprised when I didn't find a poll.

I have a question/experiment in mind. Could it be possible if, while switched with your tulpa, the tulpa can impose you into the real world, as if you were a tulpa? I have researched the topic of tulpas for a while and never came across this happening yet. I haven't a tulpa of my own so cannot try, would someone please, if interested, try and respond telling the results?

Okay, so, we've been making strides in the past few weeks and I'm happy to say me and Juliet have successfully switched for the first time. Something I've noticed is that, when it happened, we both felt this surge of bliss and euphoria unlike anything either of us has ever felt before. Is that from switching or just the sense of achievement or rush of accomplishment? I swear nothing has ever been that gratifying in my life, so I'm just curious if that's a normal sensation.
