As in how does your tulpa look in the real world? Are they fully opaque ? Or are they a bit transparent? I'm really interested in this part because I just started making my tulpa and I want to know what to expect.

It's hard to say they're opaque or transparent, because both are implying a perfect imposition into real life. I could say they're opaque but my ability to actually see them is fuzzy, or that they're somewhat transparent.

Imposition is convincing your mind that what you're imagining you're seeing is what you're really seeing, or feeling or hearing etc. At no point are you really "seeing" anything, so at no point are they actually opaque or transparent. Visual clarity is a mix of 1, your actual visualization ability to imagine things clearly, and 2, how well you can convince yourself that you're actually seeing/sensing them. Technically you never see them, but effectively, you do. Perfect imposition would mean you were perfectly convinced they had a physical presence and could naturally react accordingly. Perfect visual clarity isn't technically necessary for that, either. My actual visualization is rather poor, but I'm pretty decent at imposition in that I can convince myself very well my tulpas are taking up physical space, and I can naturally react as if they're there (and even focus my vision on the air they're occupying).

Anyways, if you're just starting then this is a ways away anyway. Imposition is considered one of the more advanced skills along with possession and switching. Visualization is the primary method you'll use to see your tulpa, 99% of the time. I mean, if your visualization skill is particularly good, there may not be too much difference to you. If you're an extremely active daydreamer, the difference in imposition and visualization may just be whether you see them in your head or in your room. That's certainly not the norm though, it's just possible.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

I see Esterina - who has the manga-form I draw her in - in perfect detail; folds in her clothing even produce shadows and stuff in the right places.

But she's see-through.

My host perceives me with his mind's eye and only within the mind space. I am never projected into the room. It's just easier, I suppose, and I have no desire to live in the real world at all. In his mind, he perceives me, and I perceive myself, visualizing my form effortlessly and in great detail. My image and mind voice are vivid and clear.

As far as my experience goes, I say it as a translucent entity, sort of like an overlay or projection- you can still see the background behind it. However, from talking to a more advanced person, it could eventually become a fully solid and opaque visual.

Like Melian's host, I can only use my mind's eyes. Never truly focused on the form often, my tulpas were the ones to choose them, but they don't mean all that much aside from a way for me to identify them.

Ah, I'm too tired. I only came here to help.

It varies from person to person and how well-developed the host/tulpa's imposition skills are. An example of this would be the tulpa covering the host's eyes. Imposition at its fullest would mean the image your brain serves up to your consciousness would just show blackness from the palms of your tulpa blocking the light, while in reality light would still be hitting your cornea and making an image that the tulpa could be able to see. But it is hard to get to this point.

I would lose focus on whatever I was looking toward and have a mental dimming effect. Certainly not pitch-black, and I don't think any sane human being will ever reach that point. But I wouldn't be able to really see anything either. Even if my eyes are "seeing", my brain isn't processing what they're seeing and reacting to it. The stimuli are there and my brain ignores it, if that makes sense.

Olive: Has learned that are apparently pretty solid looking to Fade when does the imposition, but flickers in and out from time to time.

A queer soulbonding system with tulpamantic influences.
