Drakaina March 25, 2016 Author March 25, 2016 Seeing as I already believe in plurality, and am a therian, those aren't really draw backs to me. ^^; It's interesting that tulpa doesn't seem to have an "if you look here, you're probably getting wrong information" issue. It seems there's not much love for tumblr, but not a burning hate for it either. Which is probably a good thing. If I had a dime for every time I've had to correct someone who learned about otherkin from tumblr or an article that got IT'S info from tumblr, I'd have a pretty heavy bag of coins. I was aware this board has an IRC, but I don't use those kind of things. They tend to lack real content and staying on a topic is iffy at best. Fine for social fun times, but not real discussion, in my opinion. "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." -Arthur Conan Doyle
FallFamily March 25, 2016 March 25, 2016 [Hail] I've seen and been in a number of tulpa communities and have a few things. Do note, I haven't been to some in a while so my information might be out of date. Tulpa.info forum: I like the place overall. Sometimes has too high a post rate for me to adequately handle very well. This isn't something bad about the forum, just my own limitations. It does help that I do not try to read all new posts all the time. Breaking from that habit helped me a lot. Has a high fraction of new people, which means it is serving its purpose though it can be draining at times, and sometimes people react badly to this. I can think of a few problems the community had in the past with regards to tulpamancy beliefs (such as on topics of dissipating tulpas if they misbehave or aren't developing to plan), but that isn't true of the community today. Beliefs change. The fact that this community changed its beliefs over time speaks well of it, actually. Also, with size, .info does get some drama from time to time. Tulpa.info IRC: I can't speak anything about it because I have never participated. Tulpa.im IRC: I participated in it heavily a long time ago when the IRC's were combined and it was a nice place in many ways, but some important channels got so horribly off topic that they weren't much use. Specialized channels were useful. Meet a lot of people there, though. I kind of miss the old days. Can't speak of what the place is like today since I don't go there. One downside was the constant flow of new messages, which is natural for an IRC. There is something about forums where I can read a bit more at my own leisure. There was also some mod drama back in the day as well. Tulpa.im forum: kind of dead now, but its guides and posts are useful to read (some are formatted mirrors of content posted by their authors elsewhere) Tulpa.io forum: lower volume than .info and much more slanted towards wider plurality and is a great place for mixed origin systems. I like it there, though I am biased in that my system is one of the admins and founders. One could legitimately say that the people who write the bulk of the guide/tip/article content aren't that representitive of most tulpamancy systems because most of us were systems before making tulpas. But on the other hand, that demographic characteristic makes the content especially useful to mixed origin systems. Tulpa Network forum: can't speak much of it since I have never participated there. Small place. I have read a few things there. Tulpa.fr French tulpamancy forum. I really liked the place and there are some guides there too. Nice folks. Different focus than .info. Less possession and switching focus there and more imposition. Though, one does have to become a member and make an intro post to see much of the content (hidden). Haven't really been to any of the other places. I have a hard time saying that a person should really stay away from any place. I mean, one has to be careful and take things with a grain of salt on tumblr, but it doesn't have to be avoided entirely. There is good information in nearly every community, though the amount one has to dig to find it varies and the quality of the community also varies considerably. One should read all around, but be more choosy in where one chooses to actively participate. TheGreenQueen June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 Tulpa communities seem to often dislike each other by nature. A lot of the tulpa.info IRC users hate the tulpa.im IRC, and the tulpa.im IRC hate Tulpa.info in general. There's some degree of animosity between .info and reddit on both ends, as well. Even lots of Tulpa.info forum users dislike the tulpa.info IRC users, and the other way around. Why? Lucilyn June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 Everyone's got different beliefs and no one likes how other people do things. We think some others are too unscientific and others think we're too nice OR TOO MEAN. It's impossible to please everyone I tell you! Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points. I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal! Talk to us? https://community.tulpa.info/thread-ask-lumi-s-tulpas
Sock June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 Simply, GreenQueen, it's because many people are highly paranoid about percieved bad behavior, attention seeking, lying, and other such things. These all seem like noble and rational things to be concerned about, and to a large degree, keeping an eye out for shenanigans is a good thing to do. The problems come when you get folks who take the above concerns to an extreme, and start derailing threads because of it, sending threats to people because of it, and generally causing a big ruckus. This causes animosity to grow at a quick pace, and for inter-site rivalries to form. It's all a lot of uneeded stress and misery, really. Sock Cottonwell's Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread. Peace
KarlYoshimura June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 I would suggest letting IRC, Discord and other chat-rooms well alone. Save for some several persons, there are bitter and abusively self-serving personalities herein. Personal bias aside, one host had told me that such rooms are toxic to tulpa-endeavours: the lack of productive or enriching discourse, the conflict of egos, less time spent upon one's tulpa and an inordinate fixation on items ranging from excessive pornography to the unnecessary minutiae typical of social-media. It becomes tiresome after a point. I'm disappointed that group-think and political bullshit bleeds into tulpa profiles on Tumblr, yet it's to be expected from a medium that nourishes one's pathologically vain and ignorant opinions. You may be lucky and find a relatively amicable profile - if they permit questions, one can peek into the lives of hosts and tulpas one may not know otherwise. I've not been to the image-boards or other forums, yet what screen-captures I've peeled eyes to aren't encouraging. I'd like to be hopeful and think there's a place for new and old users alike to share and support with good intent and decency - yet for now, .info is probably the safest bet. This life of games and diligent trust, it's the things we do and the things we must. I'm now tired of being cussed, so go sleep forever, end to dust. -Crystal Castles, VANISHED

It's impossible to please everyone I tell you! I've also seen some people complaining about the lack of inclusivity when it comes to other types of thoughtforms, which I don't entirely understand. Whether it's from general community interaction or a better understanding of their 'system' from comparisons, a lot of soulbond and daemon folk have both made contributions and benefited from this community.
Guest Anonymous June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 I've also seen some people complaining about the lack of inclusivity when it comes to other types of thoughtforms, which I don't entirely understand. Whether it's from general community interaction or a better understanding of their 'system' from comparisons, a lot of soulbond and daemon folk have both made contributions and benefited from this community. WHILE we are on the subject of inclusiveness and behavior. I want to make a point about something that I have seen in every forum and in every chat room. The whining about being called "imaginary friend" and the public "Declaration of Realness." I get sick of tulpas making a public spectacle about how real they are and how much they are insulted by being considered imaginary. I have gotten into fights several times by simply saying I could give a shit if they are real or not. They could be a role playing character or a trained monkey for all I know. They look just the same to me as anyone else typing on a keyboard. Just sayin while were talking bout it and I had my opportunity. It's almost as if tulpas wear their realness like a chip on their shoulder of super awesomeness or something and are daring you to knock it off. When you do, it becomes a mob attack of insulted chat room tulpas all flipping out and wanting to shun the nonbeliever. Tulpa.io has a formal rule against questioning another persons validity or credibility, other forums simply informally frown on it. But some tulpas go at this in a round bout way by marching around with the realness banner held high and trumpets blaring. In the past I felt Tulpa Info was a bit generally snooty in this respect at times, as if they are just a bit more scientific and real than all the others on other somewhat lesser forums. To me realness status means absolutely nothing (or to my host). Let me say that again. Realness status means nothing to me. You are all people to me no matter what your status, situation, real or fake, delusion or not, level of development, tulpa skills, or form. I like talking to everybody. Well that is until you start telling me how real you are compared to others. Then you start to gain a bit of suckiness.
Vos June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 I haven't been spending a lot of time in the chat lately, so I can't say much about that, but I really don't see a lot of people getting worked up over being called imaginary outside of a few people who focus on that so much that they end up leaving because of it. If this 'realness status' really doesn't matter that much to you, it might be a good idea to keep away from arguments and threads that are focused on it.
Guest Anonymous June 12, 2016 June 12, 2016 I seem to see it everywhere, but maybe that is because I am extra sensitive about even the slightest hint of it. You do make a good point that those doing this the worst end up leaving and they don't seem to last on the forum.
