Sands January 29, 2013 January 29, 2013 Cut it off a white background, didn't you? Also no anti-aliasing on the lines? That looks a bit, I dunno. Harsh? Not very soft or blendy. Line thickness on the hair behind Midori confuses me too, really jumps for my eyes and distracts me here even though it overall is a bit all over the place. But that place I dislike the most. You went for a thicker line on the outline, I think? But it's not like that everywhere so it looks weird, especially in places where I would think it would be thick. Like the places that are behind her. Thicker lines where the shadows are tends to look better than just having it all over the place, too. Is this maybe a scanned lineart that was made completely black and white? I don't normally work with scanned lineart - or if I do, I draw them again with a tablet - so I can't really tell you what's the best way to work with them, but I wouldn't suggest doing it like this in the future. (Also the circle behind her is cut on the right side) Oh and G+2, now that I looked at this thread once in a while, when you want to leave something white (or the color of paper) when working with watercolor and watercolor pencils like yours looks like (?), you want to cover that with something so the color doesn't bleed in. You'll get nice, sharp outlines. Try wax, there's special kinds made just for this kind of thing. You'd put wax on those fancy lines on the eye and then you peel it off after the paint has dried. I really liked working with it, but I'm not a painter... The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)

I've been completely out of practice in terms of art, and I got pretty lazy with this one. I likely should have popped it into Illustrator and vector it for that nice, consistent line weight, but I wanted to get it out of the press too fast. Concerning line weight, that always seems to be a nasty stumbling block in terms of my cartoon work. I always tend to apply thickness all over the place rather than on specific parts. This is something I'll be working on as I get myself back into decent artistic shape. Thanks for the comment! Is this maybe a scanned lineart that was made completely black and white? (Also the circle behind her is cut on the right side) Nah, I used a program called "MyPaint" to do the sketch, linework, and cell shading. Since MyPaint tries it's hardest to emulate pen+paper drawing, I had to move it to GIMP to play around with the background. Did another doodle before seeing this message. This one's of Kellogg, with a nice white halo~: Sock Cottonwell's Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread. Peace
Sands January 29, 2013 January 29, 2013 Nah, I used a program called "MyPaint" to do the sketch, linework, and cell shading. Since MyPaint tries it's hardest to emulate pen+paper drawing, I had to move it to GIMP to play around with the background. I guess that might explain the lack of anti-aliasing. Are you using a different tool for the lines, though? The lines are pixellated but the shading isn't like that at all. Or is there perhaps a blur or smudge tool you use in it or something? Those don't really work for lineart, yeah. Still, if you insist using that program and that exact tool to draw the lines, I'd suggest completely embracing the limits and using it to your advance and plan around having these crunchy, Paint-like lines. Even MSPaint makes pleasant drawings if you know the limits and can plan well, I guess. Line thickness is difficult and not exactly something I can even do well myself, but here it just was so noticeable I had to point it out. That takes some practice to master and all you can really do is keep your eyes and ears open. Your second picture has lines that seem much more "careful", whether that's a good thing or not varies. Not as much line variation, which can be bad, but it's also not all over the place. Her shoulder under the hood I really like, that's where the correct thickness has been nailed, I feel. Her skirt however has some odd blockier and thicker parts, seems like they were corrected later or something. As for the anatomy itself, not much I can say about this kind of chibi style or whatever, but her hairline seems to be a bit too far back. Her forehead doesn't seem to suggest like the head is as big and round as the headdress might make it seem, so it looks like her bangs start really high and her hair otherwise is really thin. Drawing hair first would probably help in the future? Don't think her ear could possibly be that far back even in this kind of style, Midori up there has the same problem if the headphones are held over her ears. I don't like the skin-colored eyeballs style, so that might be what's talking but to me Kellogg's eyes just seem a bit off. White glow around her sure does a lot better to mask any stray white pixels if this one was cut as well. I think I might be seeing a few, but that could just be my eyes. Still, not as noticeable as it was with Midori pic. Also does she have a crotch bulge. Dammit Sock now I can't unsee. Revenge January 31, 2013 January 31, 2013 I'm not a good artist, but I still want to share a drawing I made of me and my tulpae. The man in the middle is me, the one on the right is Gino, and the one on the left is Miiyoko. I tried to color it, but I ended up screwing things up. My progress report

Could you tell me what the name of this wax is? or point me in the direction of some info on it... I'll buy some later in life when I have money to buy things outside food and water... And I'm using chalk pastels... which are also water soluble... they're weird, let's just say. But they were a present from a friend, and a damn god one two; grammatical unclarities are a good thing. Sands February 1, 2013 February 1, 2013 Quick Goggle for that masking fluid. No idea how it works with pastels, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Still blocks the color from getting to that part of the paper, after all. The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)
Alcadera February 1, 2013 February 1, 2013 I suppose it would be a good idea to post my drawing here as well =3 Hello everyone ^^ I'm Alcadera, i'm just brand new here and recently opened up a thread in the progress report forum. Only a few weeks into forming my tulpa, I couldn't help but draw her form out already. I wish to post a note of warning, i've not seen much on these forums as of yet, but I do hope the fact I based my tulpa on Luna from MLP AND turned her into an anthromorph in the early days won't end up with me getting a lot of eye rolls... If anything, being one of many to do the same/symilar thing would sooner mean i'm common... right? @.@ probably overanalysing things here. Either way. here's the picture of my Luna as I envision her, and hope to properly see her as someday. When Alca talks: It's plain ol' simple text. When Luna talks: It's fancy shmancy italic text!
