Somekindofpony March 2, 2013 March 2, 2013 I don't believe they are sentient from the start. Maybe you should talk with the tulpae who are sentient from the start. Jade "These are not the droids you are looking for" Me "These are not the droids we are looking for.."
Guest Lukem1999 March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 I think I've heard that sex with tulpas was once avoided by tulpamancers because most people claimed that it was bad for their development, but it has been proven false since then. I don't know when it was proven false, though.

CyberD March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 I think I've heard that sex with tulpas was once avoided by tulpamancers because most people claimed that it was bad for their development, but it has been proven false since then. I don't know when it was proven false, though. I haven't seen any shift in the attitudes surrounding tulpa and sex. There always have been and probably always will be two distinct groups. Those who don't avoid it and those who do. I can't say we've learned much about it really, only that those who seem to enjoy sex with their tulpa are often partake in "shitposting" and are quick to defend their ideals. Sex seems to influence, potentially even define the tulpa sure, but how it is relevant changes between cases. Overall, I'd say the trend "Paradigm Shift" is leaning towards streamlining the process. Instant tulpa, no waiting around, you get everything right away and you don't need to work as much for it. I think that is an incredibly dangerous mindset if it isn't recognized. The community formed around a group of committed members but now, more so than ever, those who discover the idea aren't in it for the long run and often move on to the next exciting thing.
Sands March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 I think the sex thing was there so people would be scared and not just make one as a sex toy. The THE SUBCONCIOUS ochinchin occultists frt.sys (except Roswell because he doesn't want to be a part of it)

Avalanche March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 yeah, but treating them as so forces them to be so... Um, no? Thinking they are sentient from the start probably will give you a placebo effect along with some parroting, but it's not actually them. They either are, or are not. Believing helps but whichever it is is predetermined. You cannot believe a tulpa into being sentient. They become sentient through diligent forcing and time. frt
Chupi March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 You cannot believe a tulpa into being sentient. They become sentient through diligent forcing and time. Source? Or is this an irrational personal belief? As someone who has had additional tulpae become sentient quickly, I can attest to it being possible. When I let my first tulpa (Lyra) make our second (Evan), I fully believed it would take weeks. Lyra fully assumed sentience from the start. Evan was moving later that day, and the next day sending simply thoughts in a similar way to what I got from Lyra at the time. Additionally some multiples and people with dissociative disorders can create new headmates/alters/whatever in seconds. Similar fast creation sometimes happens accidentally in the form of therapist-induced DID. Based on how they're formed and what they can do, I think these are the same sort of beings as tulpae. Some Tibetan monks are said to be able to create a fully vocal and imposed tulpa in an instant as well. Lyra: human female, ~17 Evan: boy, ~14, was an Eevee Anera: anime-style girl, ~12; Lyra made her My blog :: Time expectations are bad (forcing time targets are good though)
waffles March 3, 2013 March 3, 2013 We should all be well aware that tulpas that aren't your first 'don't count'. It's completely believable to have vocal tulpas pop out of nowhere with zero effort as long as you already have (or possibly have made) one. Most statements about creation time refer to tulpa #1, and I don't believe that the one in question is an exception.
